CHILE – During this weekend, nine Mapuche prisoners belonging to the Coordinadora Arauco Malleco, began a hunger strike due to irregular processes and judicial practices against them, practices that have come to violate the quality of political prisoners, who were arrested and prosecuted for carrying out ideas of liberation of their people over the Chilean State.
It should be noted that these nine Mapuche community members were detained in processes of territorial recovery and Hector Llaitul was persecuted for being the official spokesman of the organization, an organization that has stood up against the government and the large extractive companies that to this day continue to destroy and want to extinguish this millenary native population in southern Chile and Argentina.
We reproduce public communiqué announcing the extreme measure:
PUBLIC COMMUNIQUÉ PPM CAM-CONCEPCIÓN
To our Mapuche Nation and to the public opinion in general, the community members of the CAM held in the CCP Biobío of Concepción, we communicate the following:
KIÑE: That, today, November 27, we declare ourselves on liquid hunger strike, assuming this action of struggle to the last consequences.
With this mobilization, we adhere to the Mapuche Political Prisoners (PPM) held in the prison of Valdivia and, in turn, we declare our strongest support to the CAM militants, and to all the weychafe of the Mapuche cause that are positioned in struggle for the political-territorial demands in the path of the weichan and for the Mapuche national reconstruction.
UPR: That, with this action we join the petition carried forward by our peñi, which are the following:
– The immediate transfer to the communal module of the CCP Temuco or, failing that, to the CCP Concepción, enabling for this purpose a communal module.
– Prison conditions for Mapuche political prisoners and dignified treatment for our visitors.
– Prison subscriptions and benefits for Daniel Canio Tralcal (CCP Temuco).
KÜLA: That, with this action we also want to denounce and unmask this government, led by a pseudo leftist president, descendant of settlers, which today lashes out in a repressive and racist way against the Mapuche autonomist movement subordinating itself to neoliberal policies and fascism prevailing in our wallmapu, This is demonstrated by the increase in militarization, the application of laws of exception (anti-terrorist law, law of usurpations) to persecute and repress the Mapuche autonomist movement, thus demonstrating the character of this new government, of being functional and lackey to the capitalist system, imposed by blood and fire in the wallmapu.
MELI: Finally, we call on our organization, the different expressions in resistance and the Mapuche autonomist movement as a whole to accompany and show solidarity with the development of this mobilization, maintaining and strengthening the processes of territorial vindication in the Wallmapu. In this same sense, we let them know that they can count on our dedication, commitment and honest and dignified sacrifice in the struggle for our Mapuche Nation, and that we will never betray the principles and guidelines inherited from our kuivikecheyem, as well as the legacy of our martyrs fallen in combat, for the liberation and reconstruction of our Mapuche Nation.
