BEHDINAN – People’s Defense Center (HSM) Headquarters Commander Murat Karayılan called over the radio to the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas on the war front. Karayılan started his speech with the words “We greet all of you wholeheartedly to all our friends on the war front”, and gave important warnings with striking evaluations regarding the invasion attack carried out by the Turkish state against the Medya Defense Areas since April 14, 2022, especially in the east and west of the Zap.
Commemorating the martyrs of Martyr Xûrsi Resistance, Murat Karayılan continued his words as follows:
“I respectfully commemorate Ferman Kerim, Jînda Serhed, Sabrî Cîlo, Helmet Viyan, Dilşêr Reqa, Adar Çiya, Harun Fırat, Arvin Tolhildan, Sefqan Adar, Hêvî Welat, Azad Pirsûs friends. We commemorate the martyrs of the resistance year 2022 in the person of these heroic friends, with respect and reverence. We will remain true to our promise of devotion and victory to them. They are our value, they are the foundation of our existence. We consider them as a beacon of victory, a pioneer of Kurdistan freedom, and they will be our source of strength on the way to victory.”
Emphasizing that the guerrillas who were martyred in 2022 in Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn made 2022 a year of heroism with epics, Murat Karayılan said, “We have left behind an important year, indeed, 2022 was the year of great resistance in the history of our freedom struggle. As it is known, the enemy was calculating that he would be successful in 2022, he continued the aggravated isolation on Leader Apo and intensified his pressure on the Kurdish people and Kurdish politics. On the other hand, he wanted to get results within a few weeks in his attack on Medya Defense Areas, especially Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn.”
THEIR TARGET WAS TO Occupy EVERY PLACE WITHIN A FEW MONTHS
HSM Headquarters Commander Karayılan stated that the Turkish state is planning to occupy the entire Medya Defense Zones in a few months, and to make the genocidal fascist regime permanent by holding elections in such an atmosphere, and continued to emphasize the following points in his speech:
“Despite all the technological means at their disposal, the use of weapons banned by the world, and all the support of the KDP, the enemy could not succeed in 2022 and was defeated. The Turkish state wanted to reach a conclusion by occupying the borders of the National Pact in 2022. However, thanks to the resistance of friends, the enemy was stuck in Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn. They called their attack ‘paw-lock’ but they themselves were locked in the Zap. In a few days, 9 months will be up and the enemy still has not occupied all the areas he planned.
On December 11-12, we saw their withdrawal from many areas. It is a defeat for the enemy to withdraw from all areas to the west of the Zap, except Girê Hakkarî and Girê FM, in the face of the glorious resistance of our friends. The same is true for the east of the Zap, where the enemy had to retreat from the summits of Kurojahro and in many areas, from the Saca area, Girê Martyr Sîpan, Martyr Kuncî area. Currently, there are no enemy forces around the Zap water, they only have forces on the Rêwan hill, and they took a little of the Shoresh hill.”
FAILED IN ZAP, THEY GO TO AVASIN
Noting that the invading Turkish army was not successful in the Zap, Murat Karayılan said that he is currently trying to take over some areas of Avaşîn and said, “For this, the resistance of our friends in the areas of Çemço and Sîda must be broken. For this purpose, they have been attacking the Martyr Botan, Martyr Felat and Martyr Dogan positions and the Cemço castle area for 4-5 months with all the means at their disposal. Çemço castle is like a dagger stuck in the heart of the enemy,” he said.
Pointing out that the Turkish army attacks the Çemço castle area with tanks, cannons and howitzers every day, Karayılan stated that banned chemical weapons are used almost every day in the Martyr Botan area. HSM Headquarters Commander Karayılan expressed the Turkish state’s aim in this latest attack with the following words: “Their aim is not to be disgraced once again after the Zap, which is why they are attacking so intensely.”
For the first time in 9 months, Kurds are fighting at the same position.
Emphasizing that the ongoing resistance in the east and west of the Zap, and in parts of Avaşîn and Metîna for 9 months, is not an ordinary event, Karayılan continued: “This is new in the history of our people. Because in the history of our people, there has never been a resistance in the same position for 9 months. Zap is the first. Yes, it is true, Kela Dimdimê in the history of our people lasted for a year, but it was a siege there. On the other hand, today’s weapons did not exist at that time. At that time, the weapons of the insurgents and the enemy were almost at the same level. Therefore, the resistance in the east of the Zap is the first in the history of our people.”
HSM Headquarters Commander Murat Karayılan stated that the guerrilla’s war tactic was also the first in the history of the art of war, “What happened is a great example of how a group of fighters defeated a regular, well-equipped army. Secondly, this resistance has a great political and social meaning, because for our people and for us, this resistance is a resistance to existence. This resistance prevented the AKP-MHP government from developing a policy of genocide,” he said. Emphasizing that if this invasion attack achieves the desired results, the Turkish state will destroy all Kurdish gains in Southern Kurdistan and Rojava Kurdistan and that the borders of the National Pact will be occupied, Karayılan said, “This resistance prevented these projects of the enemy. If the invading army had not been stopped in the Zap since 2021, they would have taken their place in the Middle East,” he said.
IF THE ZAP DROPPED, FASCISM WOULD BE PERMANENT
Noting that the current resistance is also the freedom resistance of the Turkish people, Karayılan said, “This resistance has such a historical role. Because if the AKP-MHP government had been successful in the war in the last two years, it would have made itself permanent in Turkey.” Finally, HSM Headquarters Commander Karayılan said the following:
“Therefore, we can safely say that 2023 will be the year of freedom for the Kurdish people and Leader Apo. 2023 will be the year of great victory when the fascist genocidal regime is overthrown. Undoubtedly, the stance in Imrali, the resistance in all dungeons, the resistance in the North, South and Eastern Kurdistan, which took place with the slogan of ‘jin, jiyan, azadi’, contributed greatly. However, the center; Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna. If they were successful here, the enemy would impose more pressures on Leader Apo to take a step back, and he would crush Kurdish, democratic and left politics even more. Today, there is a historical resistance from İmralı to all political areas, but the center of the resistance is the areas where the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla is located from Zap to Dersim.
Kurdish women and men, who organize themselves on the basis of Leader Apo’s ideology, are displaying an extraordinary resistance. It is not an ordinary event to stand in the face of intense attacks with all kinds of chemical weapons for 9 months. What did Comrade Bager Gever, the commander of the Martyr Shahin resistance, say? “We see ourselves closer to the Leader with this resistance.” Yes, those who carry out this resistance are the friends who are most close to the Leader. We are in the struggle to be a complete comrade with our Leader, and those who lead this struggle today are the friends who are waging this war in the fields of resistance. They are making history today, they are leading this dance of resistance today.”
CONCENT MORE FOR THE RESISTANCE
Sending greetings to all Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas in the resistance area one by one, HSM Headquarters Commander Murat Karayılan warned the guerrilla forces on the following issues and addressed the guerrillas as follows: “Friends should also be aware of what role they play. Today, everyone’s eyes are on them, especially our people. Therefore, friends should also concentrate on how to crown the resistance with victory. We are sure that our friends, who have had experience against the enemy for 9 months, will fail these last attacks and defeat the enemy. The enemy is in a hurry, in fear and in a hurry, because they know that they will not be able to hold on around the resistance positions if the weather changes. If the opportunities allow, field teams can play their role more. The defeat of the enemy has begun.
