We are heading towards a new year, on this basis we would like to ask: What was the most important event of 2022 in terms of the system? What kind of year was 2022 especially for Kurdistan and the Kurds, again for the region and the world? On this basis, how can possible developments follow in 2023?
-As of the end of the Gregorian year, important events of the year are discussed, various segments evaluate the year for themselves and try to learn the lessons of the year. We mostly make our evaluations within the framework of our struggle plans. We have a party year, we have a Newroz year, we have a breakthrough year on August 15, we have a year of struggle against conspiracy and conspiracy. On this basis, we have many Christmases. In fact, we create our year evaluations according to the calendars we make for these struggle plans.
But it is also important to evaluate the year 2022 as Gregorian, it was a year of great resistance, it was a year of war, at the same time, important results emerged in Kurdistan as well as in the world, we can say that important accumulations were formed. Struggle, war, transfers itself to the new year. Of course, it transfers on the basis of the results of the struggle in 2022. The new year will evolve accordingly. In this respect, we can say that 2023 is a year pregnant with developments. This is created by the developments in 2022.
In terms of the capitalist modernity system, the important event of 2022 was undoubtedly the Ukraine War. It started on February 24, the tenth month is being completed, two months are left to complete a year. We can say that it left its mark on the year 2022. But this does not mean that ‘the contradictions and conflicts of the capitalist modernity system were only in Ukraine, the Ukrainian War determined everything, there were no contradictions and conflicts in other areas’. On the contrary, the center of the system is the Middle East. The center of contradictions and conflicts, the crisis and chaos experienced by the capitalist modernity system is the Middle East. The capitalist modernity system did not go to the Ukraine War as it had solved its problems in the Middle East, on the contrary, it did not solve it. He fled Afghanistan in the summer of 2021 and had to cede Afghanistan to a force like the Taliban. In February 2022, he tried to manage himself, to continue his life, and to transform some contradictions into new ones in the crisis-chaos environment that existed with the Ukraine War. It can be seen so. All the contradictions and conflicts in the Middle East continue. It is the same in other areas of the world.
WEAPON MONOCOLIES WIN
It is necessary to see Russia and the USA as the active elements of the Ukraine War. Although there is a Ukrainian government and it is considered a power in the war, and NATO, and therefore Europe, also entered into this war in various ways, as if the USA and Russia were the ones who prepared the war. US-Russian relations, contradictions and conflicts led to the Ukraine War.
The war began with the Russian attack on Ukraine. But this was not an attack to create a state of war as it is now. In fact, the Putin administration aimed to overthrow the Zelensky administration. He wanted to overthrow or take over the administration with a one or two-day attack, or even an operation, and thus put an end to the anti-Russian politics in Ukraine. Russia did not succeed in this. This was not a situation caused by the Zelensky administration, the USA and NATO failed the operation of Russia. The Russian offensive, which started as an operation, turned into a war that lasted ten months. There were times when war raged, there were times when military violence fell. The war intensified in some areas of Ukraine, Ukraine suffered heavy destruction. NATO states and Russia tried important weapons in the war. They emptied their weapons depots. Thus, gun monopolies made new sales. The war trade, the military trade, accelerated, leading to a lot of profits.
In terms of military outcome, the following can be noted for Russia: One or two of its plans were unsuccessful. He eventually captured and occupied several regions of Ukraine close to his own border. He also challenged the USA and NATO. He went to war with them and tried himself militarily. No results for the Zelensky administration. Management is considered to have proven itself. Yes, he tried himself in the service of NATO and the US system, in dependence on them. He also had a meeting with Biden, the last US president, and this is how he ends the year. This is probably his greatest achievement. In fact, it is the USA that has achieved relative results in military-political terms. After the gains of the gun monopolies, the power that we can say has made some gains is the USA. Earlier, French President Macron said that “NATO is brain dead”.
In fact, in the previous period, there was a dissolving NATO. The US reassembled NATO based on the Ukraine War. NATO has redeveloped its effectiveness. Now it’s a little bigger, with Sweden and Finland joining NATO. In addition, the USA brought Europe and Russia face to face on one level. It created a situation of contradiction and conflict. Previously, there were contradictions and conflicts between the Biden administration and the Putin administration. It also includes Europe. These are the results provided so far.
Based on this, the USA wanted to go further. Based on the developments in NATO and the Ukraine War, he wanted to form a Saudi-centered alliance against Iran in the Middle East. He also wanted to form a great alliance against China in the Pacific. He also tried to take steps in this direction. The Biden administration gave importance to both areas. He visited and held meetings. They used to say ‘the 3 NATOs of the USA’: The Middle East NATO, the Pacific NATO, and they wanted to create NATO-like alliances in these regions against Russia-China-Iran. He worked in this direction. This is the point reached politically.
THE CURRENT POLICY WILL BE IMPLEMENTED
From a military point of view, the conflict is currently in a weak state. They can’t go to a ceasefire either. NATO says it will ‘continue’. Russia, on the other hand, is now in favor of ending the war, it has nothing more to do. But the US wants to maintain these situations in order to protect them. It also wants to include Europe in it. This is the outcome of the Ukrainian War by the end of 2022. But how long will it last, how far will it go? These are controversial. Will the situation in NATO continue? More importantly, will the USA be able to continue the Euro-Russia contradiction and conflict in this way? This situation is controversial both at the level of states and at the level of societies. Russian society also did not approve of the war. In the near future, the European society will be more against this situation, especially with the natural gas-energy crisis caused by the Russia-Europe conflict. Therefore, states will no longer be able to carry out this policy. Europe cannot sustain such a protracted state of war with Russia. If the US tries to impose it on Europe, it will lose. There doesn’t seem to be a permanent situation for him. Yes, there have been some results currently, but it is not like it will turn into something permanent.
Germany’s foreign minister went to the USA and offered to ‘share the leadership’. Years ago, the United States made this offer to Germany, and now the current German government has responded positively to take responsibility for the system. Germany also announced that it has taken some decisions about armament. Where does Germany’s attitude lead, it is necessary to follow it, because it can be dangerous. If German capital turns towards something like this, which will be the third orientation. It can be dangerous, the contradictory situation will continue there. The US had previously made France somewhat active. It has already severed the UK from the EU and made it act more closely with itself.
On the other hand, the Middle East alliance did not work. He wanted to run it through Saudi, it never worked, it is unsuccessful. Now, it is also discussed whether the USA will withdraw from the Middle East altogether. Saudi Arabia immediately held talks with Iran, and then with China. Now it is said that ‘China will further shrink US influence in the gulf’. He failed to create an Arab-based anti-Iran alliance with Israel. This looks like a fiasco.
WHAT THE US GAINS IN UKRAINE IS NOT PERMANENT
There was already a level of Pacific alliance against China. Sino-US tension continues in various forms and will continue. But China also does not want to confront the US, which the US wants. The Chinese government also announced this. They are struggling economically. They said that they will improve their defense situation a little bit, but China does not want to follow the policy of making two blocks as the US wants and leaving many circles to the side of the US and opposing it. Rather, he wants to have relationships with everyone. But China’s economic-military power is also high. It will become more and more effective.
Therefore, what the US seems to have achieved with the Ukraine War is very permanent, long-term, and does not seem likely to continue. More so, what is it that he reveals? There is China, there is Russia, and even the Middle East problems continue. Germany wanted to appear one and is stepping up on that basis. Meanwhile, the Shanghai alliance was assembled. It was seen that some calculated that the world would be two blocks, they calculated that it would be like the Soviet-US blockade, like the cold war period. It is not such a blocking, because there are many forces. The reality that emerged was this: The first contradictions and conflicts of capitalist modernity deepened even more. There are many centers, the contradictions between them are increasing more. The process we call the 3rd World War continues, getting deeper and deeper. The system cannot show the strength to get out of the crisis and chaos it is in, there is no way out. It is clearly seen, war will continue. The system has no solution, no exit. Its crisis and chaos are profound. There is no way to alleviate his depression. He wants to continue his rule and prolong his life through wars such as the Ukraine War, the wars he waged in various fields such as the Iraq War, the Afghanistan War, low-intensity wars and regional conflicts. This is the state of the capitalist system of modernity. There is no power to get out of the 3rd World War. However, on the basis of continuing the war, there is an effort to prolong its life in crisis-chaos by maintaining low intensity. In this sense, the contradictory and conflicting situation will continue. The system has no output. Currently, the ability of the system to overcome this situation by its own power does not appear. This is left to the anti-system forces. Usually this has appeared once again. What does it mean? It was the Afghanistan War, it was the Iraq War; The United States and NATO withdrew from Afghanistan. As such, everyone expected that there would be no more war. What happened after all? There was a war in Ukraine. So this system cannot stand without war. The threat of war governs humanity within the practices of war. It continues to dominate. It produces war, it cannot get out of war, conflict. Everyone can see it a little better.
GOVERNMENT SUPERVISION INCREASED WITH CORONAVIRUS
There was also a previous one, it was producing disease. There was coronavirus, before there was bird flu, swine flu. It produces all kinds of microbes. Leader Apo said ‘the system is a cancerous system’. This is very important. Therefore, it produces disease, it produces war, it always creates threat and danger for humanity. People see this more. For example, they suffered from the coronavirus. Some monopolies have made huge financial gains. But states have become more controlling societies. Workers and societies were exploited more. They were put under more pressure and control. They are more controlled. Intelligence, the state’s dominance over life has increased more. The world is being turned into a prison, almost the whole world is like a half-open prison under the current system. There is heavy damage. A handful of monopolists also win. He also won from the coronavirus, They won from the Afghanistan war, they are also gaining from the Ukraine war. Gun monopoly wins. Warlords are winning. But societies suffer more, they are exploited, they become uninhabitable, they are below the poverty line. They are getting more control. This is the case for the capitalist system of modernity. These are the consequences of 2022 around the Ukraine war. There is nothing new on the Western front. There is nothing new in capitalist modernity, it has nothing to alleviate its depression. There is no sensitivity to democracy. Everyone expected that the Biden administration might be a little more sensitive to democracy. She brought in a female vice president, she was the black vice president. It opens up to women’s freedom, the freedom of peoples, acts a little more democratically, more precisely, it is sensitive to democracy. So were the expectations. Honestly, we looked at the images and thought so. If that were the case, we wanted to evaluate it, and we wanted to approach it positively, but in practice, we saw more wars, more diseases, more deepening of crisis and chaos. We did not see anything in terms of sensitivity to democracy. The contradictions and conflicts, crisis and chaos of capitalist modernity are getting deeper and it is understood that they will continue by getting deeper.
THE JINEOLOGY DEVELOPED BY LEADER APO IS SPREADING
On the other hand, what kind of character did 2022 have in terms of democratic modernity forces and movements in the world?
-Yes, it is important. In 2022, we can talk about new developments in terms of the forces of democratic modernity. There are also developments that have ideological depth, although they are not large in quantity, that have a level of quality in this sense, but that also show such quantitative developments. At the beginning of this is undoubtedly the Women’s Freedom Struggle. The women’s liberation revolution is spreading around the world. It spreads as consciousness, organization and action. We saw this: women’s resistances and struggles in every field emerged all over the world, in almost every country. Even in the modernist backward countries, there were women’s resistances. Women made demands for freedom. We saw that they were organized. We’ve seen it in Africa, we’ve seen it in Asia, we’ve seen it in America, we’ve already seen it in the Middle East. The Kurdistan Freedom Struggle is mainly based on the Women’s Freedom Revolution. The latest of this is to Turkey, Arabia, We have seen the effects on Iran. A development emerged that announced the Women’s Freedom Struggle, which almost opened up to the world with the slogan ‘Jin Jiyan Azadi’, which spread from Rojhilat Kurdistan to Iran, and globalized the ideological definitions of Leader Apo and the revolutionary slogans of Kurdish women. One of the pioneers of the forces of democratic modernity, the women’s section proved its leadership in terms of consciousness, organization and action. ’21. It was said that the century will be the century of women, in fact, 2022 proved to be the century of women. He proved it in every field with all his developments and actions. There are resistances in Africa, the Arab world, the situation in Iran, the situation in Kurdistan and Turkey, in other parts of the world, from India to Latin America, and there are very effective women’s actions. There is a development in the consciousness of women’s freedom in this regard. In the beginning, it was called ‘women’s rights, struggle against harassment-rape, women’s gains’. Now, ‘women’s freedom, equality based on women’s identity, women’s freedom revolution’ is being expressed loudly. These directional requests are scheduled. Jineology developed by Leader Apo is spreading. The man and woman created by the hierarchy and the statist system are disintegrating.
In this sense, it is necessary to see this: There is more deepening in consciousness and organization. It is not just a reaction to the crisis and chaos of current capitalist modernity, to the oppression, oppression, harassment and rape of the male-dominated mentality and politics. An ideological stance, a state of consciousness emerges that demands a democratic society based on women’s freedom. This is very important. Leader Apo made the deepest evaluations on this. Jineology has indeed deciphered all the encodings of the five-thousand-year-old male-dominated power and state system, and even its pre-hierarchical period. She defined every aspect of what women’s freedom means. How a democratic society based on women’s freedom can be formed has revealed these. This needs further dissemination.
There are also organizations. There are women’s organizations in many fields. Consciousness is based on struggle and organization. In 2022, the rulers of capitalist modernity are holding their meetings, the UN is trying to maintain itself as a meeting of states, albeit slowly. In terms of the forces of democratic modernity, there were women’s liberation movements that made an effort to organize at the global level and held meetings. In Tunisia, the 2nd World Conference on Women was held in Berlin with the slogan ‘Liberating Life’. Important discussions took place. Two international meetings were held in one year. Women from 30-40 countries participated. They are organized where they are. Now women’s movements are discussing the situation of global organization more loudly. They are discussing establishing the World Free Women’s Confederalism. This is what is currently on the agenda and discussed. It has also reached this level in terms of organization. This is not the case in other parts. In terms of the forces of democratic modernity, the only force that is organized at this level is the Free Women’s Movement. This is very important and meaningful. We care about this. Indeed, the ‘Jin Jiyan Azadi’ woman is life, and life should be free. Democratic society should also be organized around free women. This is the meaning of ‘Jin Jiyan Azadi’. There is an improvement on this basis. Just as the Paris Commune marched with the slogan of ‘Liberty, Equality, Fraternity’, now the women’s liberation revolution, as the pioneer of the 21st century, has determined the revolutionary slogan of the century as ‘Jin Jiyan Azadi’. She is definitely getting her true definition of woman. As life itself, it takes its true place in life, in society, life must be free. What is not free cannot be called life. Humanity cannot accept life otherwise. A democratic society can only be formed around free women. It cannot occur otherwise. This is a global development. It is a development that gradually determines the century.
CRITICISM ON YOUTH AND TRADE UNION MOVEMENTS
Apart from that, there is a serious decline in terms of youth. There are aspects that we should criticize. There are aspects that need to be made new expansions. The background of youth was different. It is not at that level now, and it does not have such a position in terms of consciousness, organization and action, and in terms of being a global power.
On the other hand, in terms of worker-laborer, class contradiction, the following can be said in terms of oppressed classes: They have a certain struggle at the level of unions, parties and unions. But these class movements are stereotypical and dogmatic, they could not renew themselves in terms of the necessities of the age. For example, they could not develop an ideological-organizational stance that would respond to the women’s liberation revolution and democratic society on the basis of women’s freedom. Unions could not renew themselves, old parties could not renew themselves. In this sense, global relations and alliances are weak. It exists at the country level. They need to be renewed. They should restructure their ideological-theoretical renewal and organization. On this basis, it is necessary to move to a global organization.
Ecological movements were important. In the recent past, the Green Movement has also made a significant breakthrough. They also tried to create a movement at the global level. They emerged as an important tool in the struggle against capitalism in terms of protecting nature and drawing attention to climate change. But lately it has been weak. A part of the Green Movement was systematized under the name of ‘we are partying, we are becoming politicized’. They turned towards partying and politicization in the sense of entering into capitalist modernity and becoming a part of power and the state, rather than a party based on a democratic society-politicization, and they became partners in power. In fact, they may be, I am not criticizing them, I am not saying that they do not take part in state administrations at all, but as an alternative power, If they were involved in such things as a part of the democratic society, they would have contributed to the struggle for freedom and democracy. They do this by gaining some power and becoming a state. Therefore, the ecological movement was ideologically regressed, in that sense it was divided. Such joint forces cannot adequately fight against the plunder of capitalist modernity and the destruction of nature and society. For example, they are partners in power in Germany, Germany’s foreign affairs is trying to make the leaders of the global capitalist system partners with them, and we see this as a good policy, we cannot see any democratic attitude towards the oppressed from here. It is very weak. They have dimensions that empower and nationalize them. In this respect, it has weakened. Therefore, it is necessary to re-evaluate the ecological movements. Green movements need to be evaluated and discussed. This statehood In this sense, it is necessary to oppose the tendency to become a party and to become politicized. Partying based on democratic society should be politicized, it is necessary to bring it forward.
There was also a weakness in the ecological current. Other movements, parties, revolutionary democratic forces are limited to their own countries, they are not in a position to develop such a regional or global identity, they are weak in renewing themselves, there is excessive rote learning, dogmatism, stereotyping. There is a weakness in evaluating the new world, understanding the developments and producing deeper solutions. There is a need for more intellectual deepening and mentality revolution in terms of ecology and women’s freedom. Approaches to these issues are superficial and narrow. The approach to women’s liberation is not on a revolutionary basis, it is not profound, and the approach to ecology is not profound. That’s why they can’t get clear enough about revolution, power and state issues, democratic society, free life, they can’t deepen, they can’t embody, they can’t break away from power and the state. Those who cannot break away from power and state produce power and state. No one can say ‘the other’s state is bad, my state will be good’. Because what is the guarantee that your state will be good, after all, the state is a tool of oppression and exploitation. This is how all socialists defined it. This has been the theoretical definition of socialists from the very beginning. In the end, they deceived themselves with their approach that ‘my state will be fine’. However, if they had defined the state correctly or adhered to the definitions they made, they would have gone for the definition of a tool of oppression and exploitation. That the instrument of freedom, democracy and socialism will not be the state; they would see that freedom, equality based on differences, sharing, communalism could only be realized with democratic administration and democratic society. In this sense, the forces of democratic modernity need theoretical-ideological clarification. Leader Apo’s analyzes are very revealing, eye-opening and guiding. Everyone should read, study and benefit from it. It is an opinion, these views are put at the service of humanity, these views are not in the monopoly of anyone. For this reason, it should be an effort to read and understand the views of Leader Apo in the theory of democratic modernity, on this basis, reorganize the forces of democratic modernity and develop them at a global level. Our call is based on this.
– If we consider your assessments at the global level in the context of the Middle East, what were the most important events and developments for the Middle East in 2022.
-Yes, there are many parts of the Middle East, there have been developments in many areas, it can be said for previous years, but we can express this much better for the year 2022. The development that left its mark on regional events is the struggle in Kurdistan. The basis of the struggle in Kurdistan is guerrilla warfare. There is the Imrali resistance. Leader Apo theoretically enlightened humanity with his thoughts and defenses, but he was not limited to flour. And with his stance, his life and his struggle, he brings those thoughts to life, and he lives that way. It affects everyone who is interested. Imrali is a genocidal system. There is also the life of Imrali, a life of resistance, a life of resistance to the end in a free life. Such is the life of Leader Apo for sure. We can define it this way. The event that left the region’s stamp on the whole year and affected the entire region is definitely the situation in Kurdistan. Recently, developments in Iran have been added to this. But it was added in the last three months.
THE RESISTANCE STRUGGLE OF THE KURDISH PEOPLE HAS ITS MARK
The Iran-US antagonism had been affecting the region in the past years. In part, this influence continues, but is not at the same level. What was new in Iran was the people’s rise to serhildana led by women. It is possible to define it as a new event affecting the region as a regional event. But this also covers the last three months of the year, mainly the struggle in Kurdistan, which covers the whole year. Against the all-out fascist-colonial genocidal attack carried out by the AKP-MHP fascist dictatorship to crush and destroy the Kurdish Freedom Movement, the Freedom guerrilla, and on this basis, further and complete the Kurdish genocide, with the support of the USA and NATO, and again from the KDP as Kurdish collaboration and betrayal. Leader Apo in İmralı, Zap-Avaşin and Metina based in Bakur, Turkish cities, Başur, again in Rojava, Kurdish youth, women,
They last met in Amman. As the second Iraq meeting, they say they are discussing Iraq’s problems and strengthening Iraq, but the essence of the matter is not Iraq, it is a meeting where developments around Kurdistan are evaluated. It should definitely be seen that way. The Iraq problem means the Kurdistan problem. The situation in Iraq has aspects arising from the system, it is the area where the power and state system is established. The crisis of the system is experienced most severely here. Their wealth is in crisis, but the most important problem is the Kurdish problem. The problems that arose around the Kurdish question, the division of Kurdistan, the implementation of genocide in Kurdistan, all arise on the basis of the Kurdish question. They are related to the Kurdish question. It needs to be seen and understood as such.
Iraq made an election but could not form a government. But then he also formed his government. It’s not really a government issue either. Iraq’s problem is actually humanity’s problem. The government and the state system have created them, and societies have to solve them. In this sense, the problems are not in the way the meeting in Amman was handled, but rather different. In fact, the problem is not Iraq that cannot change, it is Turkey and Syria in the current situation. The crisis of the system is mostly focused on Turkey and Syria as a region. The system cannot change, renew itself, or take a step. On one side, there is the Assad administration, the Autonomous Administration of North East Syria, and the invasion of Turkey. Turkey is constantly conducting airstrikes. Many gangs have emerged, including al-Qaeda and ISIS. They took control of a significant part of Syria based on Turkey. No one can provide the slightest improvement that can produce a solution. If you pay attention, there is the most blockage in Turkey, the AKP-MHP fascist dictatorship is against everything, it threatens everyone, but no one can change it. The opposition is organizing to change the system, but the all-out attack by the AKP-MHP fascism, the fascist-colonial genocidal attack and the guerrilla-popular resistance of the Kurdish people led by the PKK, of course, blocks this. The system cannot change the Erdogan-Bahceli administration. They are afraid if they try to change it, because they fear that the guerrilla-PKK will be effective and democratization will develop. They prepared something called the six table. But the AKP wants to continue its life with the war it imposes and by showing the PKK threat, it gets the support of the system. For example, the USA seemed to be against it, but in the end it had to fit into the Erdogan-Bahceli fascism.
RESISTANCE BROKEN ACCOUNTS
Now we have to see this: In fact, if the AKP-MHP attacks had been successful in the war, they would have dominated everything, they would have developed the Kurdish genocide, thus overcoming the current congestion. That didn’t happen. The system cannot change either. Now it is the PKK, HBDH, revolutionary democratic forces that have failed in the war and are imposing change.
They are imposing a stronger democratization. This also frightens the system. They are in a dead end. ‘Tayyip or Kılıçdaroğlu?’ The press is discussing. It got to that point. You have to see this. The important point in such an equation is that the revolutionary democratic development led by guerrilla warfare turns into politics and becomes an effective manager as democratic politics. This is an important imposition, an important development. In fact, this is the most important development that shows the power to overcome the blockage.
As of the end of the year, there is a very important level in this regard. Because on April 14, the AKP attacked from the beginning. He would crush the guerrilla in a week or two. He would then attack North East Syria and liquidate the Rojava Revolution. Thus, as a victorious power, it would re-govern itself in the change of management in 2023. Such was the planning of AKP-MHP fascism. In a way, they supported and encouraged this. In a way, they calculated that the PKK would resist this.
The calculation of some forces was as follows: ‘Let the AKP-MHP attack like this, let the PKK resist, let everyone weaken, in the meantime, let’s bring another power or the opposition -the table of six–to power and make a soft change. They hoped for it. They also wanted to take advantage of this conflicting situation. So what was the result? AKP-MHP’s plans did not work. Not in two weeks, two months, 9 months passed, but the guerrilla could not crush, the media could not occupy the defense areas. What’s more? He took the hardest hit. There are thousands of losses. He now has Zap syndrome. Turkey’s state, police and army are over. Contra, it’s all come to that.
The nine-month balance sheet has been announced by our central headquarters. The enemy had to flee from many areas. He had to vacate many places. The guerrilla took over with the last November, December action. This can go even further. At first the plan was not successful. It seemed like it was in between, then those who wanted to make the six-table power a little bit enthusiastic, but now only the AKP-MHP’s plans were not in vain. They were defeated.
