NEWS CENTER – The recent statement by Asrin Law Firm on the CPT’s so-called İmralı visit is of a blood-curdling nature. The statement by the CPT on the last İmralı visit, “We met with all the prisoners individually” , while not containing much information, was partly reassuring for Kurds and democratic forces. Because it meant that all revolutionaries held in İmralı, especially Rêber APO, had been met and addressed and thus there was a dialogue. However, the declaration that “the CPT did not meet with Rêber APO” shattered all these collusion.
What is the situation now, how should we understand it and what should we do? Some people interpret the Asrin law firm’s statement as “Leader Apo has not met with the CPT,” in other words, a “protest.” Such people say: “Leader Apo is protesting, so we should protest too”. Others see it this way: “There was no attempt to meet”. So you determine that “there is a scam”. There are even voices claiming that leader Apo is “unable to hold talks”.
Of course, these are only assumptions and interpretations for the time being. Until the CPT makes concrete and reasonable statements, and until there is a lawyer or a family reunion with leader Apo, such speculation and discussion will continue. Undoubtedly, these speculations belong to those who express them and in no way express concrete reality. In this case, what is concrete about İmralı and Leader Apo is that nothing is really known. For 20 months there was complete ambiguity and uncertainty. This leads to all sorts of speculation and interpretation. In fact, the AKP-MHP government brought about this situation by driving leader Apo into complete isolation.
Although the Imrali dungeon is located in Turkey and guarded by the Turkish state, it is clearly a dungeon created and administered primarily by the US and EU, i.e. NATO. It was created as a continuation of the international conspiracy planned and carried out by these powers. Therefore, the US and the EU, in other words NATO, are as responsible for the system and practices in İmralı as the Turkish state. Although the CPT acts as a monitoring organisation, the institutions to which the CPT is affiliated, the Council of Europe, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and the ECtHR, i.e. the institutions of the European Union, are primarily responsible.
Therefore, not only the AKP-MHP government, but also today’s EU and NATO administrations approve of the current increased isolation and torture in İmralı. It is noteworthy that the CPT keeps meeting, sometimes publishing reports, sometimes even criticizing current practices and calling for changes, but in practice nothing changes. The current state of lawlessness continues. And this situation does not bother the CPT and the organizations or institutions to which it is affiliated. Because they don’t seriously oppose it and don’t change anything. I wonder if they don’t have the power to change the existing lawlessness? Some people perceive it that way and the organizations concerned express or imply it. If this is the case, then it is obvious that the situation of the existing institutions is much worse because they do not have the power to do anything. But it’s hard to believe that this is the reality. It is quite clear that these organizations have the same understanding and style as the person or organizations who are perpetrating the attacks in İmralı in this way. This shows that the talk of “democracy” and “human rights” by EU circles is wrong, that they are no more than words, or rather that they are limited to defending their own interests. that these organizations have the same understanding and style as the person or organizations who are perpetrating the attacks in İmralı in this way. It is quite clear that the reality in İmralı is both illuminating and judging. It is obvious that no one can hide from what is happening in İmralı. The Truth of İmralı unmasks all masks and reveals the true faces. It clearly shows who is truly democratic, libertarian, pro-human rights, socialist and revolutionary, and who is using these adjectives as a mask for their own interests. It also shows everyone the true face of the five thousand year old male-dominated system of state and power and the five hundred year old capitalist system of modernity, and how it is based on a genocidal mentality and politics. On this basis, she judges all people, weighs them on her scales, exposes them, and brings everyone together with the truth.
So what should we, the Kurdish people and their revolutionary-democratic friends, do in the face of this situation? It is very clear that we will first take the Imrali enlightenment as a basis and continue to educate ourselves on that basis. Second, we will develop a practical struggle in line with the Imrali process. Since the reality of İmralı does the enlightenment and judgment, it’s actually easy for us. Our task is to understand them correctly and to apply them successfully.
The reality of İmralı shows that we are not in an ordinary or normal environment. It is not even enough to describe as “extraordinary” the situation in which we find ourselves according to the statement made by Asrin Law Firm. It is very clear that we as the Kurdistan Freedom Movement and the Kurdish people are experiencing a situation that goes beyond “extraordinary”. We haven’t received any message from İmralı for 20 months. We have no information on Leader Apo’s health and safety situation. In addition, there are very important rumors and allegations that refute the CPT’s statement, which says: “I went and questioned him”. So we don’t know what is happening in İmralı, what is the situation and conditions of Leader Apo.
It is very clear that in this situation we cannot stop for a day, not even a second. In fact, we have been a bit too flexible up until now. When there was no lawyer and no family reunions, we sort of didn’t let the hell loose. However, we should have let go of hell and moved the earth, because we were right, we were demanding our most basic right, and communicating with İmralı was vital to us. With such self-criticism about the past, we should reach out to the truth and do now what we didn’t do in the past. In other words, based on the recent statement by the Asrin Law Firm, we should get rid of the hell. We must not stand still, lie down, sleep, eat or drink, until we have an attorney or family meeting with Führer Apo; we need to be in constant action anywhere, anytime.
The time we are in is indeed one of open mobilization. We, the Kurdish people and their friends, must mobilize from seven to seventy and carry out uninterrupted action. We must keep moving until we get concrete information from Leader Apo. We must keep in mind the only agenda and goal is to have a lawyer or family reunion with leader Apo and get concrete information from İmralı. We should see no obstacle to such a mobilization. We must be able to act as an extraordinary society and as individuals in extraordinary times.
Pessimism, pessimism and despair shouldn’t stop us from doing this, and we shouldn’t say, “It’s not going to work out.” We shouldn’t see the Conspiratorial Forces and Guardians of Imrali as too powerful. As long as we are determined and united, set our goal clearly, act persistently and continuously, it is certain that we will achieve results in the shortest possible time. In this case, everyone must act according to the mobilization time requirements and adhere to the uninterrupted action that will break the isolation of İmralı and receive information from Önder Apo. Our righteous fight will surely win.
