NEWS CENTER – The reflex demonstrated by the Kurdish people, especially the youth, yesterday and today in Paris are more than just a feeling of revolt and anguish channelled in the form of revolutionary violence. The Kurdish people have historically been attacked by the fascist Turkish state and the other states which occupy their territories and especially at the present moment they are in a critical period. In a conjuncture where the fascist Turkish state is using chemical weapons against the guerrillas in the free mountains of Kurdistan, constantly attacking with drones and artillery the territory of Rojava and continuing the torture and isolation under Rêber APO (Ocalan); the Iranian state has repressed the demonstrations in Rojhilat and Iran with extreme violence and the family of oligarchs of the Barzanis continue to silence any opposition in Bashur, an uprising was expected to break out.
This attack yesterday afternoon at the Ahmed Kaya Cultural Centre in Paris is not only a racist and fascist attack perpetrated by a French national – who already has a long history of attacks on immigrants in France. The fact that it comes close to the 10-year anniversary of the barbaric Paris massacre where PKK vanguard Sakine Cansiz was executed along with 2 other leaders of the Kurdish women’s movement, Leyla Şeylamez and Fidan Doğan on 9 January 2013 demonstrates that such an attack is yet another attempt to destroy the willpower of the Kurdish people and their revolutionary struggle which for years has expanded beyond the borders of Kurdistan.
The reflections of the youth are an important factor to remind everyone that the struggle of the Kurdish people is a revolutionary struggle. There are some who are pointing to this revolt in an attempt to criminalize this struggle even more, with “moralistic” arguments…what kind of morality is this? A morality which was silent before the assassination in 2013 in this same city, which was silent before the war crimes committed by the fascist Turkish state (a member of NATO), which was silent before the indifference of the French state during the investigations of the 2013 massacre? These masquerade as holders of morality, but they are only defending the interests of the oppressors. The revolt of the oppressed must be expressed and must strike fear into those who oppress them!
Kurdish welatparez youth, together with internationalist youth who support the revolutionary struggle are giving their response to the NATO states and saying clearly:
“Enough is enough! We will not silently accept the attacks against us! We are one together with our martyrs and with each martyrdom, our struggle and revolt will become even more organized to achieve our victory!”
