CHIAPAS – On December 4, in the framework of the Acción Internacionalista en En Contra del Uso de Armas Químicas en Kurdistán (Internationalist Action Against the Use of Chemical Weapons in Kurdistan), a space to discuss the situation in Rojava was held in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. The event was held in Sendas, a self-managed space from the struggles for autonomy that characterize that region under strong Zapatista influence.
The event was attended by 34 people. At the beginning of the event, the documentary Si te Dicen que Caí en Rojava, by Spanish journalist Ferran Barber and produced by Rojo y Negro TV, was shown. Then, an audio sent by the comrades of the communication committee in Rojava and members of the Nodo Solidare, an international solidarity organization located in the city, supported with a contextualization of the current problem of the Turkish offensive in a broader framework of the revolution in Rojava. The space allowed to inform about the current situation, to put it in geopolitical context and to connect the thought of democratic confederalism with the idea of that territory of “A world where many worlds fit”.
At the end of the event, the formation of a local solidarity committee was proposed, in order to continue the accompaniment of the Kurdish struggle in this crucial moment of harassment in the face of the plans of conformation of a new Ottoman empire.
