BEHDÎNAN – The HPG press center said in a written statement that the occupying Turkish soldiers have withdrawn from the western and eastern areas in the Zap region. The written declaration of the HPG contains the following information:
“The occupying Turkish army launched a full-scale invasion operation against the Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna areas from the air on April 14, 2022 and from the ground on April 17 to occupy the Medya defense zones. Kurdistan freedom guerrillas put up epic resistance and withstood this full-scale invasion operation, employing the style of expert team warfare and creative guerrilla tactics that made professional use of the terrain and war tunnels.
For eight months, the Turkish army used all its air and land warfare techniques at its disposal to hold the places where they landed troops from the air and to break down the guerrilla dominance in the area, bombing the resistance areas countless times, systematically used chemical weapons and banned bombs thousands of times. Despite all this, they could neither implement their occupation plans as desired nor save themselves from the devastating blows of the guerrillas of democratic modernity, which had equipped themselves with the apoistic spirit of Fedaî.
In particular, during the most recent revolutionary operations in Girê Cûdî on November 25 and in the Girê Hakkarî resistance area on November 26, the Turkish army’s strikes shook the fascist AKP-MHP regime. Although the Turkish army suffered very high casualties in this relentless war, it has never made its casualties public in any way.
After a commander and some high-ranking officials were punished in the Saca resistance area on December 5, the Turkish army retreated from the Kurojahro mountain peak in the Zap region, the Saca village in the Şeladız valley of Amediye and its surroundings, the Şehîd Sîpan hill and back to the valley of Şehîd Kuncî, where the commander was punished. Kuncî is the place where the warlord was punished and the slopes of this area in the Zap region retreated.
The Turkish army also fled from all fronts in the Girê Cûdî resistance area and burned the bodies of their own soldiers there on the orders of Hulusi Akar. On December 11 and 12, the Turkish army retreated from the hills of Şehîd Kendal, Şehîd Şîlan, Şehîd Çekdar, Şehîd Baxtiyar, Şehîd Savuşka and Şehîd Leşker from Girê Cûdî under heavy guerrilla beatings. The Turkish army, wishing to occupy and permanently settle Girê Cûdî, bringing much material with helicopters for this purpose, burned many of its materials, throwing them off the cliffs and leaving behind many of its belongings while fleeing in panic.
Undoubtedly, the Turkish army did not carry out such a retreat because it preferred it, but to avoid the crushing blows of the guerrillas. Earlier, the commander of the headquarters of the People’s Defense Center said in one of his speeches that these “occupiers will either leave or die.” While some of these occupiers were punished with continuous activism and revolutionary actions, others were forced to flee to save their lives. The fascist AKP-MHP regime under the leadership of Tayyip Erdoğan and Hulusi Akar spent eight months consuming so many Turkish soldiers, suffering over 2700 deaths and committing countless war crimes, but still could not achieve what it wanted. This historical result was evident to the west and east of Zap; it is a sign of the invincibility of Kurdistan’s freedom guerrillas and the failure of the Turkish army. At the same time, it is also a serious sign of a fundamental break in the Turkish state.”
