DERSİM – Munzur University student Bestar Güneşli stated in an interview with PİRHA that the fascist Turkish state systematically imposes spying on students and said, “Some of our friends are being summoned unlawfully by saying, ‘You have a statement, you have a lack of signature, come to the police’. At the search points, they are forcibly put in private vehicles and brought to the center by using their identities as an excuse. But they are making unlawful offers such as spying and threatening families until they are brought to the center.”
In Turkey and in the cities of the region, policies of violation of rights and pressure practices continue within the scope of special war policies. With the policy of spying, which continues to increase day by day, young people are threatened and tried to be put under pressure.
Munzur University students held a press conference at the Human Rights Association (İHD) Dersim Branch on December 12, stating that they were being spied on by the police.
Bestar Güneşli, a student at Munzur University, said that they were threatened by law enforcement under the name of systematic spying and said, “Some of our friends are being called unlawfully by saying, ‘You have a statement, you have a lack of signature, come to the police.’ At the search points, they try to force them into private vehicles and bring them to the center by using their identities as an excuse, but they make unlawful offers such as spying and threatening families until they are brought to the center. We held a Democratic Student Council workshop throughout the province. After our friends leave the workshop, they are suddenly subjected to identity checks by 6-7 police officers in the bazaar, and our friends forcefully take their phone numbers while showing their IDs. After getting their phone number, they start calling regularly.”
“Spying is imposed through private negotiations”
Güneşli stated that a friend of her was called from the governor’s office for a scholarship, and after his friend said that he did not need a scholarship, he was forced into a vehicle after leaving the dormitory one day. “In the car, they make offers to our friend such as ‘We will give you a salary of 5 thousand TL per month, we will arrange a house, we will arrange an extra scholarship’. On the other hand, when some of our friends are called to the police, private conversations are tried to be taken under the name of ‘Brother, let’s chat with you’ and spying is imposed on our friends in those private meetings. Munzur University is not the only place where there is such an unlawful orientation, and at the same time, not only the members of the Democratic Student Council in Dersim, but also all the members of the Democratic Student Council in Turkey and Kurdistan live. We are expanding our struggle from where we took over, we are leading the way and we never give up the struggle,” she said.
