NEWS CENTER – The 7th Congress of the European Left Party was held in Vienna between 9-11 December. In the congress, which was held with the participation of 26 member political parties and 21 observer parties from many European countries, and many parties, movements and guests from the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America and Asia, HDP Foreign Relations essentialist Feleknas Uca, Kurdish Democratic Culture Federation and KNK representatives also took part. took.

Speaking at the congress, FEYKOM Foreign Relations Spokespersons Mustafa Dillice and Lorin Şahan pointed out the importance of the democratic confederalism experience of the Kurdish Freedom Movement in the Middle East in Rojava, and the necessity of protecting it and being in solidarity.
HDP Deputy Feleknas Uca stated that they are the leading party of the anti-war struggle in Turkey and that they continue the HDP’s democratic resistance against the AKP-MHP government. Uca called for solidarity for the HDP closure case, which will be decided in the coming months.
Speaking on behalf of the KNK, Sinan Önal, on the other hand, called for sensitivity to the possibility of occupation of Northern and Eastern Syria, and emphasized the importance of the democratic experience that took place. It was stated that the Kurdish problem can only be resolved through peaceful methods, only if Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who was kept in absolute isolation, is free and negotiated with him, as was the case between 2013 and 2015. The Turkish state’s use of chemical weapons against HPG guerrillas, the PKK’s removal from the terrorist list, and the jin-jiyan-azadi female serhildan in Iran were mentioned by many speakers.
Maurizio Acerbo, on behalf of the Re-established Communist Party of Italy, raised the PKK flag at the end of his speech and said that the European Left Parties should work to remove the PKK from the list of terrorist organizations and immediately liberate President Abdullah Öcalan, and was applauded for a long time by all components.
The Austrian Communist Party, the Finnish Left Party, and the Italian and French Communist Parties protested Turkey’s reconciliations with Sweden and the deportation of Kurdish political refugees due to its application for NATO membership, and stated that the left should work more on this issue.
In the resolutions, a proposal was presented to show solidarity with the Kurdish People. The motion submitted by Syriza, Greece, and the Reestablishment Communist Party of Italy, was adopted with the full approval of all delegates. In the draft resolution, it was stated that while full support was given to the struggle of the Kurdish people for their right to self-determination, it was stated that they would be together with the HDP-led struggle against the Erdogan regime.
The immediate termination of all arms agreements with Turkey, the release of all political prisoners in the person of HDP ex-co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ and the fulfillment of the ECHR decisions, joint actions to protect the basic human rights of the Kurdish people were the main articles of the resolution.
Walter Baier, the new president elected at the congress, stated in his speech that being in solidarity with Kurdistan would be one of his top priorities. The congress concluded on Sunday, December 11, following the election of new boards and the president.
