NEWS CENTER – Our detailed dossier “YOUR SILENCE KILLS” deals with the war crimes of the Turkish occupying army against the guerrillas in the mountains of Kurdistan. The fourth section of the dossier deals with the role of the supporters of the war crimes of the fascist AKP-MHP with chemical weapons and banned bombs. In this section, not only the role of the KDP and the Barzani clan, which repeatedly came to light during the occupation operation by taking an active role in the war against the guerrillas, but also the role of the Iraqi government, which by its silence allowed Iraqi territory to be occupied by the Turkish state on the one hand and chemical weapons and banned bombs to be massively used against the guerrillas on the other hand, was examined in more detail.
In the daily reports of the HPG defense units, attention was repeatedly drawn to the supporting role of the imperial hegemonic states NATO. Not only that they let their Turkish contracting party in the name of the fight “against terrorism” by their silence and the “letting do”, but also weapons and means were used by the Turkish occupying soldiers, which come from NATO.
While NATO was raising the public’s eye on Ukraine and drawing attention to Russia’s war crimes on a daily basis, the NATO member state Turkey was switching gears in the south of Kurdistan without any human ethics against the guerrillas on the mountains of Kurdistan and was actively supported in these war crimes against the guerrillas of the freedom of Kurdistan by the international silence, but also with technical war equipment.

The Executive Council member of the KCK, Mustafa Karasu addressed NATO’s silence in an interview with the ANF news agency, stating:
- “The way to deal with this situation is to use chemical weapons and poisonous gases. Apart from the atomic bombs used in World War 2, the Turkish state has used as many chemical weapons and poisonous gas as the total number of chemical weapons used so far. The Turkish state uses chemical weapons and poison gas many times more than Saddam used chemical weapons. The guerrillas take precautions with gas masks and other methods. However, it is used so intensively that it causes significant guerrilla casualties. The Turkish state commits such serious crimes; but it is ignored. The use of chemical weapons by NATO’s second largest army is NATO’s use of weapons. For this reason, the U.S. and Europe, which are sensitive to chemical weapons elsewhere and cause hellfire, ignore these crimes of NATO member Turkey. So they are trying to cover up their complicity.”
HPG reported on July 15, 2022:
- “The Turkish invading army has shelled the resistance areas tens of thousands of times with howitzers and mortars, bombed them with attack helicopters and warplanes, and used the weapons provided by NATO.” Further, HPG reported on August 17, 2022, “The fascist Turkish army did not hesitate to use the most despicable methods and to commit war crimes with the full support of NATO. Nevertheless, these plans failed due to the unbreakable will of the guerrillas.” However, on September 18, 2022, the HPG again stated, “On Although the Turkish government is carrying out heavy bombardments with banned bombs and chemical weapons, the historic resistance of the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla continues. The Turkish occupying army, taking advantage of NATO’s capabilities in every way, is committing these war crimes that are far from human morality.” As well as on 01 October 2022, “The Turkish occupying army, which is trying to continue this war by using the most advanced technical facilities of NATO, cannot break the resistance of our armed forces with apoistic spirit of sacrifice and steely will and is using banned bombs and chemical weapons with increasing violence every day.”
On October 15, 2022, the HPG defense units stated:
- “The war criminal Turkish state, emboldened by the lack of response to these documented war crimes and the support of NATO, continues its attacks with banned bombs and chemical weapons uninterruptedly.” HPG’s 6-month balance sheet stated, “Since 14. April 2022, when the invasion attack on the areas of Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna began, the invading Turkish army, which failed to achieve its goal and suffered heavy blows against the resistance of our Hevals who fought with great courage and sacrifice, has attacked the resistance areas tens of thousands of times with fighter jets, attack helicopters, howitzers, mortars, tanks and artillery. During this period, the Turkish army, which was actively supported by the KDP and at the same time actively used the mercenary gang segments recruited from Bakur Kurdistan and Syria in the war, mobilized all the war techniques, war facilities and weapons offered by NATO and attacked tens of thousands of times, but still could not achieve the desired result against the historical resistance of our comrades.”
Duran Kalkan named this complicity of NATO in an interview on Medya Haber TV on the anniversary of August 15, saying:
- “They are committing war crimes. Their existence is already a crime. Their presence in Kurdistan is a crime. They are occupiers, they are committing genocide. They are shedding blood; this is a criminal situation. But beyond that, they are committing war crimes. They use criminal weapons, they use chemical weapons, they use phosphorus bombs, they use tactical nuclear bombs. They used them 1,532 times against the tunnels. Let’s think; they made 1,532 attacks. With weapons that are war crimes, all from NATO countries. Some of them were bought with money, but most of the weapons they got from NATO.”
NATO’s role will become even more apparent in the section on the use of tactical nuclear weapons.
