BERLIN – The international women’s conference “Women weaving Future” that took place in Berlin last weekend and was attended by over 800 women from 42 different countries has been a significant moment for women worldwide and gives hope for a future where women collectively organized to fight against the patriarchal system. The conference gave the women present a lot of food for thought and a high morale to finally tackle the problems worldwide and move forward as a common force.
Our news agency was also there to get the opinions and thoughts of some of the young women present. Regarding the current situation in Kurdistan, the young women feel it is especially important to send a message to their home country and launch calls for the public to be aware of the current ongoing war crimes being committed by fascist Turkey in Kurdistan.
Louise shared the following message with us during the conference:
“Hello everyone, I am currently in Berlin at the Women Weaving Future 2022 conference. I am addressing you with these words to make you aware of the current situation in Kurdistan, of the fact that Turkey is waging a war with chemical weapons against the guerrilla fighters, against civilians and even children. So it is imperative that we respond in France. The youth and especially the women as the vanguard must take actions. You must talk to your comrades, your friends, your parents, your family. Talk about it in your environment, it’s really important, because these war crimes are crimes against the freedom that we defend here.
Speak directly to the French government, to the Minister of Military Forces who accepts the use of chemical weapons against the guerrillas by Turkey, the President of France who supplies French weapons to Turkey. Conduct investigations and talk to everyone to raise awareness of this extremely serious situation. We are here to defend freedom, that is why I am speaking to you.”
Lotte also felt it was important to make a call, telling our news agency:
“I call on all feminist and women’s movements to stand in solidarity with the Kurdish women’s movement and to stand in solidarity with Kurdish society and to understand that these chemical weapons attacks are also attacking us everywhere. Because it destroys a movement that internationally foregrounds and strengthens the struggle, the feminist struggle, the struggle of women.”
Florentina has spoken to our agency twice. Once in English to the international public and once in her mother tongue Italian. In Italian, Florentina said:
“I am here because as young women I support the Kurdish women’s struggle and because I am against the use of chemical weapons in the war against the Kurds and their resistance.”
Karo Redge Wolya also addressed the public with a message, saying:
“I want to encourage all young women in Europe to get involved with the chemical weapons attacks in Kurdistan because these extreme attacks, this extreme violence is only happening because the revolution as it is happening is such a huge opportunity and such a danger to imperialism, to capitalism and patriarchy. That’s why such means are used to attack this revolution and that’s also why we have to deal with this revolution and defend it, in Europe.”
