BEHDINAN – YJA Star Central Headquarters Command said, “On the third anniversary of their martyrdom, we commemorate our esteemed companions, our commanders Peyman Bagok, Agirî Gabar and Çavrê Amed with gratitude, express our condolences to our patriotic people, especially their families, and reiterate our promise to realize their struggle goals.”
A FENDER LIFE, AN ACTIVE PERSONALITY, AND A FREE SPIRIT
In the statement of the command, “The great activist of the Kurdistan People’s Liberation Army ARGK, the passionate worker of the women’s army, the leading commander of the People’s Defense Forces HPG and the Women’s Defense Force YJA Star, our comrade Peyman Bagok has achieved great success, a relentless march, an honorable victory during her 28 years of struggle. It was shaped by the patriotic culture of our comrade Mêrdîn. Thus, she gained character as the owner of a deep patriotism, a rebellious spirit and an indomitable will. When she joined the freedom struggle and started guerrilla in 1991, she was aware that he had started a historic war against the invaders for her people and country with courage and determination. It was the weight of feeling the magnificence and sanctity of the cause for which she took her responsibility. She met the great commander Bêrîtan (Gülnaz Karataş) and worked as a guerrilla together. She went to Heftanîn. There, she matured quickly during the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, which she participated in at a young age. It has been said that in the mountains of Botan, Zagros, Dêrsîm and Behdînan, she ran for freedom without rest, labored, shed blood, and became the fear of the invaders.
YJA Star Central Headquarters Command’s statement included the following:
“Comrade Peyman Bagok never left the guerrilla areas during her nearly thirty-year struggle from 1991, when she stepped into the guerrilla, until she was martyred in November 2019. As a woman, she influenced, directed, carried forward. She became the warrior and commander of countless actions and great conflicts. She became the representative of a self-sacrificing life, an activist personality and a free spirit in line with the PKK-PAJK, in the philosophy of our Leader, to whom she was devoted with love and passion. She managed to become the truest example of our leadership’s philosophy of “One bite, one cardigan”. In this sense, it became the name of modesty, simplicity and honesty. The only real source of nourishment was the values of freedom. That’s why an endless life energy, she had a great love and never allowed any obstacles in the way of struggle, did not retreat in the face of difficulties, did not fall into despair. She was aware that whatever in the name of honor in the occupied Kurdistan, where the genocide was imposed, would be won on the basis of the bitter war with fascism, she was in the mature character of being shaped under difficult struggle conditions. Therefore, she was the militant of creation based on hard work, development based on costs, and success in all circumstances.
Comrade Peyman Bagok, besides being the fighter and commander of the HPG periods, was the worker, guide and pioneer for all periods from the beginning of our women’s army to YAJK and YJA Star. In almost all the mountains of Kurdistan, she made the patriotic essence of Kurdish women, the persistent will of the women’s freedom line dominate life, and transformed it into work, action and comradeship. She acted with a radical revolutionary attitude against all domestic and foreign backwardness, especially the genocidal fascist enemy, and never compromised her stance of honor and freedom. Botan’s patriotism, the majestic self-confidence of the Zagros, and the rebellious spirit of Dêrsîm had transformed her into an identity, a personality, and an impressive character in every sense, turning her into a source of great trust and love. She was ideological, military, one of the strongest representatives, the most genuine militants and the most successful pioneers of the Apoist women’s stance in every social sense, in other words, the free women’s stance, and with this stance she was one of the proud of the Kurdistan Women’s Freedom Movement. As a member of the PAJK Assembly, while she was at his duty as a YJA Star Council Member, she was martyred in the air attack of the genocidal fascist Turkish state in November 2019 and joined the caravan of immortals. Thus, in our struggle for freedom to which she devoted her life, she enthroned in the hearts of her people, women and comrades of the cause, and became eternal as a source of light that illuminates our path.
FREEDOM INSPIRED ITS HONORABLE PLACE IN OUR HISTORY TO ETERNAL
Our comrade Agirî started to live in the village of Gordila, located on the outskirts of Gabar. The patriotic essence and free spirit of growing up in a laboring, plain mountain village where Kurdish values and patriotism are strong, and being shaped away from capitalist modernity, shaped her character and formed her personality. With this character, she became attached to the mountains and to the guerrilla, which she called the spirit of the mountains, from a young age. From a young age, she decided to join the guerrilla and tried, but each time she was turned down by the guerrillas on the grounds that she was too young. That’s why she fought her first battle against time to grow up fast and join the guerrilla. And she quickly grew, succeeding in pulling her towards the battle over time. She joined the guerrilla ranks by making a decision with her cousin. She was no longer the girl of her village who was condemned to traditional borders, but a female guerilla who fought the invaders for the freedom of her people. Her name was Agirî Gabar, which means the two sacred resistance fortresses and two mysterious mountains of Kurdistan, coming together, uniting and reuniting with one soul. She had finally begun her true battle. This war was against the genocidal, invaders, fascists and against the male-dominated reaction in their person. And she continued this war uninterruptedly for twenty-one years, from the autumn of 1998, when she managed to become a guerrilla, to the fall of 2019, when she was martyred.
In the footsteps of the great commander Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz) on Mount Gabar, she learned guerrillaism in her soul and reinforced it with her personality. And in the life she built on this strong foundation, she became a freedom guerrilla in the true sense of the word. If the guerrilla was to fight bravely against the invaders for the honor of her people, and to fight with love for social freedom, Agirî Gabar was the simplest expression and embodiment of this. Because, during her twenty-one years of guerrilla warfare, Agirî Gabar became a name for the spirit of attack, successful actions and impressive courage. She was almost cooked in actions, she breathed her life in the event of an attack on the enemy, so she became a warrior of countless actions, she raised dozens of weapons, she shared the dreams of hundreds of her comrades in their last moments, and she went against the invaders with a will of steel and an indomitable hatred. Comrade Agirî Gabar was as angry as the mountain Agirî, for which she took his name, to the holocaust, to the enemies of her people. She fought relentlessly and tirelessly with this great anger against slavery and reaction. She was injured many times, but each time she got stronger. Like steel that hardens when water is given, she steeled her will as she shed blood on the lands of her country. The action she did not participate in in the mountains of Gabar, Besta, Zap and Cîlo did not leave an invading position that he did not go against.
Her love for his country, her people and women, her trust in Leader Apo in his struggle to liberate them, and the power she got from the PKK-PAJK line made her conscious, self-willed, organized and combative in every sense. In the face of the international conspiracy, she decided to become a bodyguard on the line of Zîlan, took part in the organization of Hêzên Taybet, pioneered the organization of professional guerrillaism, and played a prominent role as an educator. On this basis, she became one of the pioneering comrades, and gave intense efforts to develop professional guerrillaism in the unit, front and regions he took responsibility for.
Comrade Agirî Gabar went from Botan to Behdînan, from there to the Zagros, and from Zagros to Botan once again, and led the guerrilla command in many areas along the line of free women. On this basis, she carried the guerrillaism forward as the owner of great sacrifices and achievements in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle. In Botan, where she went for the third time in 2015, Besta was responsible for YJA Star in Gabar regions, she organized and coordinated many actions there. She played a prominent role in the Self-Management Resistance, especially in Sirnex. In the Medya Defense Areas, where he came on the basis of new duties after five years of practice, she became a martyr together with her dear comrades Peyman Bagok and Çavrê Amed in November 2019, embodying her honorable place in our history of freedom into eternity and took her place in the caravan of immortals.
Courageous, Willing and Activist
With the influence of the patriotic environment in which she grew up and her guerrilla brother, our comrade Çavrê Amed decided to join the freedom struggle at a very young age. For this purpose, she joined the guerrilla ranks in 2011. She developed rapidly in her guerrilla life, which she started with great enthusiasm, and took on responsibilities at an early age. Almost all of her guerrilla activities took place in Avaşîn province. Since she was passionately devoted to Avaşîn, after the central education she came to, she was reorganized in this province, where she served as team and unit commanders, and pioneered in the province with her hard work and self-sacrificing participation. Comrade Çavrê took part in many actions in Avaşîn and became a source of morale for her comrades with her courageous stance, strong-willed personality and activist character. The essence of patriotism and passion for freedom brought her together very strongly with the philosophy of Leader Apo and on this basis the line of women’s freedom, so she turned into a great personality who took on historical responsibilities on behalf of her people at a young age. With her mature structure, quick wit, and very colorful and talented personality, she quickly became militant and enabled her to take on great responsibilities as the PKK-PAJK staff and successfully fulfill all of them. So much so that although she joined the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle in 2011, she represented an essence, consciousness and maturity that integrated with the party as if he had been in the PKK environment for many years. The level of ownership of the party life, the responsibility to protect the values of freedom and her honest, loyal and serious participation on this basis have made her a reliable, loved and respected militant in every sense.
After her long years in Avaşîn, she started to concentrate on the basis of her desire to engage in guerrilla activities in Bakur Kurdistan, which she loved very much. In this process, Peyman Bagok stayed with our comrade, learned a lot from her about living free, fighting the invaders, and deepened in understanding the reality of the Leadership and the martyrs. As the commander and trainer of Comrade Çavrê Amed, she became more competent with what she learned from Comrade Peyman, gained initiative in every sense and became practical.
As the comrades of these valiant Kurdish women, free women, great militants and genuine revolutionaries who devoted themselves to the freedom of our people, women, fought relentlessly against all kinds of reaction, especially the invaders, and wrote their names in the honorable history of humanity, we reiterate our precious promise to realize their goals. We express our condolences to our patriotic people, especially their families, and to women who struggle. Our promise to these esteemed martyrs will be to ensure the physical freedom of our Leader, which is the reason for our existence, to save our country from occupation, our people from genocide, and women from male domination. We will fight hard for this cause and we will definitely win.”
