NEWS CENTER – Jinnews has accessed the torture footage of Garibe Gezer, who was detained on 9 December 2021 after being raped and tortured in the Kandıra F Type Closed Prison No. After Gezer was murdered, the prosecutor’s office brought a confidentiality order to the file, and lawyers were prevented from being involved in the investigation.
Kandıra Cezaevi’nde uğradığı tecavüz ve işkencenin ardından katledilen ve başsavcılık tarafından “yeterli delil bulunmadığı” gerekçesiyle dosyasına takipsizlik kararı verilen Garibe Gezer’e cezaevinde işkence yapıldığı görüntüler ortaya çıktı.

All applications made by their lawyers to date have been given a “decision of non-prosecution”. Lawyers declared the Constitution in March 2022, covering Articles 17, 40, 36 and 141 of the Constitution and Articles 3, 6 and 13 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), regarding the torture and rape that Gezer was subjected to. He applied to the Supreme Court (AYM). However, there has been no positive or negative response to the application so far.
The torture that Gezer was subjected to in prison was reflected in the camera records. In the footage, it is seen that Gezer was dragged on the ground by being pulled from his arms by many guards and prison officers. Again in the footage, it is reflected on the cameras that Gezer, who was tortured, screamed while being dragged on the ground.
Gezer’s lawyers, Eren Keskin, Jiyan Kaya, Jiyan Tosun and Elif Taşdöğen, announced that the case opened at the Human Rights Association (İHD) Istanbul Branch building regarding Gezer’s murder was concluded after exactly 11 months. Although there is evidence of Gezer’s torture, the Kandıra Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office decided that there is “no room for prosecution” in Gezer’s file on the grounds that “there is not enough evidence”.
