BEHDINAN – Reminding that the pain resistance in Kurdish history lasted for 4 years, but it developed by fighting for a few hours a day, apart from the intensity of intermittent and recent days, Murat Karayılan said, “However, as it is now, it has been 7 months continuously, day and night, and the resistance against all modern weapons is new. Everyone should see this. They called this operation a ‘lock’, but they came, they locked themselves in Zap and Metîna. They fell under the lock of the guerrilla here,” he said.
PKK Executive Committee Member Murat Karayılan, who was the guest of the “Special Program” broadcast on Stêrk TV, gave striking information about the images of the Turkish army burning the bodies of its own soldiers, which were broadcast on the ANF recently. Pointing out that the decision to cremate the bodies was taken by the Turkish Defense Minister Hulisi Akar, Murat Karayılan stated that the use of chemical weapons was also Erdogan’s decision.
Calling for the “Let’s breathe for the guerrilla” actions to continue and deepen, Murat Karayılan said regarding the founding anniversary of the PKK on November 27, “Many heroes of the period have appeared in the dungeons, on the mountain tops and on the streets in the past 44 years. Many epics have been written. Our history is a very rich one with great resistances. This resistance saved our people from extinction and brought them into existence.” Murat Karayılan, who stated that national unity should be on the agenda in the 45th anniversary of the PKK and made a call on this issue, said, “Maybe not everyone can come to this union, but our people should establish their own unity despite this.”
PKK Executive Committee Member Murat Karayılan’s emergence of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the establishment process of the PKK movement, the latest state of the war in Avaşîn, Zap and Metina, 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the upcoming elections in Turkey. Answers to questions about:
Under what conditions and on what principles was the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) founded?
I congratulate the 44th anniversary of our party PKK, all the people of Kurdistan, especially the founder and great worker of our party, Leader Apo, the friends of the people of Kurdistan, all the staff, sympathizers and supporters of our party, and I wish success to everyone in the 45th year. I commemorate all our martyrs of the revolution in the person of our great martyr Comrade Haki Karer, bow respectfully in front of their memories, and reiterate our promise to them. We will stick to our word, fulfill the dreams of our martyrs and keep their memories alive in free Kurdistan.
November is not just a month for us to establish our party. It is also a great bear of resistance; There have been many valuable martyrs in this month. I commemorate all our November martyrs in the person of Delal Amed, Şîlan Kobanê, Reşit Serdar and Yılmaz Dersim, and bow respectfully before their memories. Again, we have martyrs declared in this last period; I respectfully commemorate Comrade Nuri Yekta, who was the Commander of the Hakkari Front in the Metîna resistance. He still had a role and labor in the ongoing resistance. He had already fought on the front lines and was martyred in this form.
Again, I respectfully commemorate Peyman Bagok, a member of the Northern Dispatch-Administration Command, and comrades Agirî Gabar and Çavrê Cîlo, who were martyred with him. Friend Peyman had practical duties, but he was also a member of the PAJK Assembly and YJA Star Command Council. He fought non-stop for 28 years in the mountains of Kurdistan. He traveled all over Kurdistan from Zagros to Behdinan and Dersim. I respectfully commemorate our esteemed commanders, comrades Peyman, Agirî and Çavrê, and bow respectfully before their memories. I repeat once again the promise we made to all our martyrs.
As it is known, we are at war at the moment and we are giving martyrs every day. I commemorate all of our Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna martyrs in the person of comrades Nûjiyan and Şoreş who were the last martyrs; I bow respectfully before their memory; I repeat once again the promise we made to them. Their resistance has cost history and this resistance will be crowned with success and the memories of our martyrs will be kept alive.
LEADER APO HAD ONLY ONE CONSCIOUSNESS
The 44-year history of the PKK is like an epic. In these 44 years, many heroes and heroes of the period have appeared in the dungeons, on the mountain tops and on the streets. Many epics have been written. Our history is a very rich one with great resistances. This resistance saved our people from extinction and brought them into existence. The politics of denial, assimilation and genocide on Kurdistan created a dead silence in Kurdistan. Our people were condemned to darkness. In such a period, Leader Apo’s debut took place. This happened exactly 50 years ago.
Leader Apo was a 25-year-old boy at that time. He was not the son of a sheikh, an aghas and a bey like the Kurdish leaders who had made their debut in the past. He was the son of a poor family from Kurdistan. He entered the university by his own labor and was studying. But he had realized the facts and was seeking it. In this way he recognized the truth and deepened in the reality of Kurdistan. It started out this way. He had neither money, nor people around him, nor opportunities. He set out against impossibilities. So what was it? He had only one consciousness, his devotion to the truth, and his faith in himself and his people. He only had these. Leader Apo set out with these 50 years ago.
They faced great difficulties even in the first group period. For example, Haki Karer friend was the assistant of the leadership, but he was a porter for the expenses of the houses kept in Antep, the expenses of the friends to be trained and to buy books. He was a porter at the flea market in Antep with some friends. Likewise in Adana. In other words, there was a situation of starting a journey on the basis of his own labor, in the midst of poverty. Although there was no written document or other material at that time, the enemy was aware of the work of this group. The enemy had heard that there was a group that firmly embraced the Kurdistan cause and worked on this basis. For this, the Special Warfare Department stepped in; a counter group was deployed; they mainly wanted to target Leader Apo, but when they could not reach him, his friend Haki Karer, who was his assistant, was martyred in a conspiracy in Antep in 1977. From here, it was understood that the state noticed the group.
Leader Apo wrote the program in memory of Comrade Haki Karer, whose framework had been clarified until then. In this way, ideological studies were completed and a new era was started by starting political studies. Leader Apo then said, ‘Now blood has been spilled; There is no turning back,’ he said.
On the anniversary of the martyrdom of your friend Haki Karer, this time collaborative Kurdish landlords, fascists and the police jointly martyred Halil Çavgun in Hilvan. The group was now at a crossroads. It would either take a decision and resist on behalf of the people, or soften and loosen it a bit like other groups, or withdraw from the work. Those were the options. However, the group was determined, clinched around Leader Apo, and in this way, the decision was made on 27 November 1978 in Fis Village of Lice district of Amed under those conditions. This resolution declared that ‘we must conduct national resistance; this requires partying; for the resistance to develop, the party has to be formed and led the resistance; resistance must be increased at any cost; this is indispensable for the existence of our people; No one who calls himself a human should turn a blind eye to this. Because at that time the enemy was on the attack and it was obvious that this would not be easy. The PKK was established to organize and raise this resistance.
PKK IS A HUMANITARIAN MOVEMENT AS IT IS NATIONAL
The PKK was born as a Kurdistani movement, but today it has become a regional movement with millions of supporters across the borders of Kurdistan. What would you like to say about this situation?
The PKK was not like the movements in Kurdistan until then. Leader Apo deepened in contemporary science and adapted it to Kurdistan. He brought a Kurdistani interpretation to this. In this way, he developed a science and philosophy and deepened it. So he created a line and clarified his schedule. For the Kurds not to disappear; That program turned into a party in order to exist and live freely. Yes; The PKK is a national party and the existence and freedom of the Kurdish people is on the way, but it is a national movement as well as a humanitarian movement. It is based on general thinking, not on a narrow nationality. The more patriotic, the more international. Already at first, there are international friends in it. In other words, Kurdistan is under a destructive mentality, but the existence of Kurdistan will develop the revolution in the Middle East along with it. This idea is fundamental at first. In short; In this way, the PKK is yes a Kurdish party, but it is also a party of Arabs, Turks, Persians, Armenians, Assyrian-Syriacs and all peoples. Because the PKK aims to bring the peoples of the region to a new level with the freedom of the people of Kurdistan; seeks to create equality, freedom and fraternity among peoples. There is this basis at the outset. For this, it has made progress on the basis of patriotism and internationalism.
PKK is also a women’s party. Why? Because the PKK has brought new issues to the agenda regarding women and social life. Developed a new comment. The PKK was founded on the basis of the principle that ‘the society will not be liberated unless women are liberated’. For this, it is a light in Kurdistan; is something new. It was established to be a light against feudalism and the reactionary society, to be a medicine, to create a regeneration and to develop a Renaissance in Kurdistan. It has already done this in the past 44 years.
PKK IS A THOUGHT AND BEING MOVEMENT
What developments did the PKK’s armed struggle lead to in Kurdistan and the region?
As I mentioned before, there were attacks against the people in Kurdistan before the PKK was even established. The PKK was already established in these attacks. So legitimate defense was needed. For this reason, the basic method in the mindset of the PKK and Leader Apo is self-defense. A power, a nation, and all living things must be able to protect themselves. No living thing or society that cannot defend itself can survive. That is, it should be able to defend itself; should be able to defend themselves. He should not attack anyone, he should defend himself. The long ‘Persistent People’s War’ entered the agenda in this way. The PKK took this strategy as a basis in the struggle. But the ‘People’s Revolutionary War’ is essentially self-defense. So you don’t attack anyone; you protect yourself against those who attack you; You defend your own national values against those who attack your values.
The PKK is based on an understanding of struggle and defense within this framework. If it is only said that ‘PKK wanted to reach a conclusion with an armed struggle’, this would not be true. The PKK is an ideological, political and cultural movement; it is a movement of being, it has an idea. However, within this idea, there is the view that every living thing should be able to defend itself. For example, our people should not ask anyone to defend themselves. People’s war is the people’s self-defense and self-creation. Nobody gets you. You will create yourself; You will defend yourself! You will organize for this. If this requires armed force, you will organize the armed force; You will be prepared to pay the price for your existence as a people. All societies that have done this have existed.
The PKK approached the issue of armed war within this framework. The armed war in the PKK is a defensive war, not an offensive war. He defends himself and his values. Today our country is occupied; our lands have been occupied; our water was confiscated; our language, our culture is forbidden; There is an attack against our people. There is a need for an ideological, political, cultural, social and military defense against all these attacks. This is what has been done. In other words, not a single war was waged, in fact many things were done. Armed struggle is only a part of it. First of all, it is essential to defend the new Kurdish society that you will create. And this requires defense by military means if there are ideological, political, cultural and, of course, military attacks. This is the philosophy on which the PKK walks. Many sections consider it separately, but this is the philosophy of the PKK. Every society should be able to protect itself; He has the right to protect himself, and this is his legitimate right. This is what we are doing in Kurdistan today. In any case, Leader Apo declared a ceasefire whenever there was no attack against us, for example, when there was a possibility of a political solution. 9 ceasefires have been declared so far. These are the origins of this idea. If there is no attack on you, there is no need for you to attack anyone. You can use military methods only in defense.
But that doesn’t mean it’s a passive defense. You can win if the defense is carried out actively, not passively. They treat active defense as an attack, but in essence it is not; Its strategy is to protect national democratic values. This is what is being done today. Look; Turkish colonialism, namely the AKP-MHP regime, has been carrying out a new concept in order to eliminate all the gains of the Kurdish people and to make it prevail not only in Northern Kurdistan, but throughout Kurdistan, and on this basis, it has been developing its attacks against us for the last 8 years. Against these attacks, we are waging the ‘Revolutionary People’s War’ within the framework of self-defense. The ‘Revolutionary People’s War’ is the people’s self-defense by all means, claiming their rights; everything is not left to an expert armed force. It is for everyone to lift the load in defense, to play their part. The guerrilla has things to do; the women’s movement has things to do; young people have things to do; The popular movement has things to do. In other words, if everyone claims their duty, a people’s war will occur within this framework. This is the people’s war. There are those who misunderstand this. No; Everyone must do their duty.
WHAT HAPPENED IS THE SUMMIT OF THE ‘REvolutionary PEOPLE’S WAR’
That’s what we’ve been working on so far. While there are sometimes competencies in this regard, there are also inadequacies from time to time. However, we cannot state that we have fully realized the ‘People’s Revolutionary War’ so far. There have been many deficiencies and this is how it has come to this day. What is happening all over Northern Kurdistan today, and what has happened in Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna, is a new and culminating period in the ‘Revolutionary People’s War’. The enemy is attacking and wants to occupy, remove and destroy the Kurdistan resistance forces, but this force is resisting. This power stands and fights against the enemy. This shows that this war has reached a new stage. This is how the war waged in Kurdistan today can be expressed within the framework of the Revolutionary People’s War.
Against this, the natural enemy is blocked and resorts to immoral methods for this. The Turkish state is by no means fighting against us according to universal laws and the laws of war, and does not act accordingly. He doesn’t even act according to his own laws. For example, is the policy he is carrying out towards Leader Apo in Imrali a legal thing? No. There is neither law nor morality in it. They violated universal laws as well as their own. They take our Leader hostage and keep them under constant psychological torture. Where is morality and law in this? For example, no one knows what happened there for 20 months. But is there such a thing anywhere else in the world? None. This shows that the Turkish state has violated the law against us, our captive comrades in prison and our leadership. They violate human rights. He does the same with the guerrilla. When he can’t beat it, he uses chemical gas and banned weapons when he has a blockage. In other words, this state violates human rights and universal laws and wants to destroy the Kurds in this way. However, the resistance of our people and the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla is increasing. In short, the enemy cannot get results from this and this process continues.
‘Let’s breathe for the guerilla’ ACTIONS MUST CONTINUE
The Turkish army uses chemical weapons against the guerrilla, but the world is silent against it. The Kurdish people and their friends have been protesting this situation for a while. Do you think the resulting stance and reaction are sufficient?
First of all, it should be noted that the Turkish state is violating all the laws of universal law on war in Kurdistan. It uses a wide variety of banned bombs and chemical weapons against the Kurdistan Freedom Movement. This is a sure thing and the relevant global powers are keeping quiet about it even though they know it. We condemn their silence. Why do they react when they even talk about using it in another country, but despite the fact that the Turkish state has been using it systematically for the last 2 years, they do not both react and apparently do not give the green light to the relevant organizations to react. For this reason, those institutions are also blind, deaf and dumb.
But our people show a really important reaction against this, they have been going out for a while. mainly in the north; There were marches in Silopi and Istanbul, then in Europe, in Den Haag, although it was weekdays. The most recent departure of our people took place all over Europe, especially in Dusseldorf and Marseille, on 12 November. Again, there were massive outflows in Rojava, especially in Kobanê and Qamishlo. There was a massive outcry in Shengal. It is significant that the people of Shengal support the guerrilla. Again, an important reaction arose in Maxmur. All of these are meaningful. The co-chairmanship of our movement saluted and congratulated our people who came to the field. On behalf of all the guerrillas, we salute all our people who participated in these actions, and all our people who took to the streets by saying ‘let’s breathe for the guerrilla’.
But are these actions enough? No. Our people are much more powerful. We believe in the power of the people, not the power of the states. Our people have much more power. However, although these actions were delayed, they were good for the beginning. This needs to be continued and deepened. In Kurdistan, the Kurdish people are insulted in the person of Leader Apo and the guerrilla. Universal laws are being violated. All kinds of lawlessness and immorality are carried out. The Turkish state sees it as an opportunity to defeat the guerrilla with chemical gases and banned weapons. Why? Because it is clogged. In other words, he uses these weapons to overcome his blockage, to prevent his fall. There is this too. But our people and all our friends should know that; Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla is a professional guerrilla. If he was an ordinary soldier, he would have had so many airstrikes, It cannot withstand tank and artillery fire, these prohibited bombs and chemical weapons. It is not possible. In other words, it is not possible both as an ideological belief and not possible as a method.
THERE ARE TWO BASIC REASONS FOR THE GUERILLA’S CAN NOT BE LIQUIDATED
If the guerrilla has not been liquidated today and continues to resist, there are two main reasons for this. The first is that he has faith. For example, his comrade is martyred by chemical weapons next to him, but he swears on his fallen friend and continues the resistance by saying “I will take his revenge”. But the enemy said, ‘If we use chemical weapons, they will leave and run away; They evacuated Kurdistan,’ he thought. Because there were practices seen before. For example, when Saddam used chemical weapons in Southern Kurdistan, this happened and the area was evacuated. The Turkish state hoped so, but it did not happen. In other words, the first is the guerrilla’s belief and self-sacrifice. Guerrilla is a bouncer. We said that our party, the PKK, emerged on the first day as a self-sufficient person. The first bouncer is Leader Apo. Does anyone with us work for property or personal interests? No. Do any of us have anything? No. We do this for our people. We will sacrifice ourselves for our people if necessary. This is the decision of every guerrilla, especially us comrades in the administration. This is a factor that causes the position not to be abandoned and the resistance to continue.
Second, the trained guerilla fights with expert methods. So he knows how to defend himself. He has some tools in his hands and also applies the defense method. If this is not the case, there will be no one left, there will be liquidation. If the guerrilla has not been liquidated today, it is because of these two factors that I have mentioned. In other words, the first is the guerrilla’s self-organization, belief, courage and self-sacrificing stance on the basis of Leader Apo’s philosophy; The second is that he uses expert-based methods and knows how to defend himself. For example, how is the enemy doing? It sends gas through the tunnel door. With what? With aspirator. Guerrilla, on the other hand, takes this gas out through a different door with an aspirator. Of course, I cannot mention every method here for security reasons, but the guerrilla also has various methods to nullify such attacks. In other words, the guerrilla approaches methodically. Maybe some of them may think, ‘How do friends stand against the use of chemical weapons?’ Of course, friends also use various tools; they put in place wise way methods. Of course, friends apply them skillfully, based on their practical experience. There is a tremendous experience gained especially in the last year. Otherwise, no one can stand against the chemical weapons used by the enemy. The guerrilla thwarts these attacks with its prowess, agility and consciousness. Of course, it also suffers losses, but by minimizing these losses, it continues its resistance in its position. Now it is in the guerrilla position and continues its resistance.
THE PEOPLE OF THE SOUTH SHOULD HAVE SURVIVED
Of course, when our people take to the streets, the guerrilla gains more power. This is good support. Just as our people say, this outlet plays the role of a breather. In this way, it becomes a support. It is in this context that the ‘People’s Revolutionary War’ needs to be strengthened. However, there are still deficiencies in this regard. The North must be further strengthened. The south is already quiet. However, it is a fact: These weapons were used in Southern Kurdistan in the past; is still used today. Ha Saddam or Erdogan; what is the difference? It is necessary to oppose this in the South and to break the apocalypse. That’s right about it; We have many devoted people. In Silopi, we have seen how the enemy’s attacks of all kinds are resisted and approached with courage, but there is still more to be done. For example, if Amed takes action, he can do many things. In all regions of Kurdistan, this method should be developed, strengthened and strengthened. Young people should be organized, they should form an organization within themselves. Look; There is a process going on in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran. Okay, maybe there are differences in terms of method and process, again there is a female leadership, so it is at a different stage. But in the North, there is such a brutality of the enemy. There are wild methods. Why would you be silent about them? Why settle for just watching? If we join hands, organize ourselves in this way, oppose these inhuman practices of the enemy, we will defend our trenches more strongly, and we will be more successful politically, socially, culturally and militarily. So this output should really be appreciated but further strengthened; because it is not enough. This is a process and this process should be further strengthened, should be advanced. Kurdistan needs this today.
WAR IS WAITED BY ELECTIONS
Turkey is heading towards the elections. Does this war have anything to do with the election?
It has connection. Especially for the last 2 years, the AKP-MHP government has been planning the war against us based on the election. In fact, if they had been successful in the attack they had developed against Garê last year, in 2021, they would have wanted to hold early elections in 2021 and perpetuate their power. He wants to strengthen the chauvinistic and nationalist sentiments in Turkey with a victory they will achieve against us, to go to the elections with these feelings and to win, and to perpetuate his regime. His regime is a fascist regime. It is a great danger not only for the Kurds but also for the people of Turkey; It is also a great danger to the people of the region. But they want to go to the elections by creating such a success against the guerrilla. They tried this first with the Garê attack, it didn’t work; Afterwards, they attacked Zap, Avaşîn and Metina throughout the year, but they did not succeed, they failed. They thought that they could do the same in 2022 by innovating in some methods, especially in banned bombs and chemical types. They thought that they would occupy all Medya Defense Zones in 2-3 months and declare a victory in this way. However, they were not successful in this.
Their aim is to declare victory by capturing all Medya Defense Areas, including Garê and Kandil; then he turned his direction to Rojava, Shengal and other areas, to eliminate all the gains of the Kurdish people and then mainly to occupy the whole of Southern Kurdistan. Such was their plan. It was as if they had made a sorting, but they could not succeed. Because the war is still going on in Zap. They named this operation ‘lock’, but they came and locked themselves in Zap and Metîna. Here they fell into the lock of the guerrilla. They wanted to take this place and go to other areas; In this way, they would be able to make an early election, but they failed to do so. They also incurred great economic costs. The Turkish economy is currently experiencing a crisis. The difficulties began; hunger began; The cost began. The AKP-MHP government is experiencing such a strain. If there is talk of losing them today, it is because of the resistance of the guerrilla. If they break the resistance of the guerrilla, then they will also win the elections. In other words, the resistance carried out by the guerrilla in Kurdistan has such a democratic role and mission for Turkey. Today, the guerrilla is an obstacle to the permanence of fascism. That is the truth. Even though the opposition within the system is now against the guerrilla and does not want to see this truth, they also know that this is the truth. Today, the obstacles to the permanence of the fascist regime are the resistance of the Kurdistan guerrilla, Leader Apo’s stance in Imrali and of course the attitude of our people. These are the obstacles to the fascist regime today. If they break the resistance of the guerrilla, then they will also win the elections. In other words, the resistance carried out by the guerrilla in Kurdistan has such a democratic role and mission for Turkey.
THERE WAS A WILL ON JUNE 23
However, despite this reality, the Turkish opposition does not see this. This is part of their policy. He’s okay. However, these segments also do not consider the Kurdish society. Let’s say he sees the guerrilla outside of himself, but the current level of Kurdish society did not come about by itself. Leader Apo has 50 years of work. A new, democratic, progressive and integrated people has been created. This society formed its unity with the left-socialist forces of Turkey. It has become a power, a will. However, instead of taking this will into consideration, they make calculations in the form of ‘how do we break it up’. There are even those at the 6-person table. In other words, there are those who make such miscalculations, who think of breaking it up, taking advantage of it, condemning it to themselves. Everyone, especially these segments, should know that; Despite nobody, nothing was done on June 23; There was a will, and now there is a total will. In other words, the accounts that say this happened despite some calls are wrong accounts. Those who make such calculations are mistaken. We believe that the unity of our people and the democratic-left forces is a solid union. No one can play on it; neither game gets results. This needs to be known. Of course, this was not our topic, but we see that it is on the agenda every day. It is not clear whether they want support from the Kurds and democratic groups or whether they want to break them up. The parties have not clarified themselves on this issue. In this respect, both the government and those who call themselves ‘opposition’ should clarify themselves and no one should miscalculate. In other words, the accounts that say this happened despite some calls are wrong accounts. Those who make such calculations are mistaken. We believe that the unity of our people and the democratic-left forces is a solid union. No one can play on it; neither game gets results. This needs to be known.
THEY DON’T HAVE THE COURAGE TO MAKE A ‘POINT OPERATION’
The AKP-MHP fascist regime always presents itself as successful in this war. What is their real situation in this war?
They are waging a lot of psychological warfare. As we said in the previous question, we have choices ahead of us. Although they do not have any success, they create a scenario for themselves and say ‘we are successful’. For this, the pool media broadcasts and always ‘we hit, we caught, they disperse, they surrender’ etc. They use phrases. Especially in these last months, they highlight the MIT; they carried out point operations against us, they carried out guerrilla raids, they abducted people, etc. They say things. These are all lies. We are a big movement. Some people break away from us, go to the South; In the South, Parastin and MIT contact him; she is investigating him; either persuasion or family, etc. they take them to Turkey somehow. After he was taken away, MIT says, ‘I caught it with the operation, brought it’. He went to them, but they make it look as if he had a point operation, caught and taken him. But everyone should know that the Turkish state does not have the courage to come to our area and carry out a ‘point operation’ and take someone away. There is no such thing and it never will be. They cannot do such a thing. They are fighting us with both air and chemicals. Nothing like this has ever happened before. What are they doing? They follow and martyr people like Nagihan Akarsel who are revolutionaries, intellectuals, who play a role in women’s freedom, and who are unarmed. Here in Paris, they turn to people as they martyred Sara’s friend. Otherwise, there is no such thing as an operation against an armed guerrilla and taking him away; I can’t be. They do not have this strength and courage. These are all their lies. ‘They disperse; we shoot,
However, while using such rhetoric on the one hand, on the other hand they say ‘a state of terror will be established’. Well, since you say you finished in the North; then why are you operating in 10 places in the north right now? Currently, there are operations in 10 places. The soldiers are in the field; planes are in the air. If you’re so debilitated, then why are you doing these things? In other words, they want to create hopelessness in Kurdish society with such lies and to strengthen themselves by creating a surge in Turkish society and to get results by going to elections in this way. In short, our people should not believe any of such statements of the Turkish state; The vast majority are lies and have nothing to do with the truth. We no longer see the need to answer all their lies and say ‘this is not true’. Because they lie every day.
HULUSİ AKAR GIVEN THE DECISION TO BURN THE FURNACES
For example, who are the ones breaking the law in this war now? Of course, they are the ones who lead this war. For example, the corpses of their soldiers are in the hands of the guerrilla; they don’t own it. Then they burn the corpse so that it does not fall into the hands of the guerrilla. Clearly, they stacked three bodies on top of each other and burned them. A normal commander cannot decide on this anyway. This decision is the decision of Hulusi Akar. Again, with Erdogan’s approval. For example, could they use chemicals without Erdogan’s approval? Why did they turn to anyone who evaluates chemical use; They arrested Şebnem Hodja and Kurdish journalists who brought the issue to the agenda. Because this decision has been taken by the management power itself. Just like the Roboski incident. Just as Erdogan himself took the decision in Roboski, Erdogan also took the decision to use chemical weapons; The instruction was given by Hulusi Akar. It is these people who ordered that those soldiers be burned instead of falling into the hands of the PKK. They are that savage. They are burning their own soldiers, they are so unscrupulous. In this way, they want to create fake success scenarios with dirty methods. But they can no longer do such things because now there is a will of the Kurdish people, there is the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla that has renewed itself, Leader Apo has ideas, they cannot succeed anymore, they will be defeated and they are being defeated.
PKK IS THE ANTIDOTE TO THE MALE-DOMINATED SYSTEM
What would you like to say about the upcoming 25 November International Violence Against Women?
First of all, I condemn all kinds of violence against women in the strongest way and I salute those who struggle for this cause. Leader Apo has developed a new line on women around the world. Previously, left-socialist movements used concepts such as ‘women’s right, women’s equality’. Leader Apo said: “Unless male domination is defeated, women cannot be free; First of all, male dominance must be abolished, in this way equality can be achieved. Society can never be free unless the woman is free.” He developed a new world-wide view and line on this subject. In addition to this, Leader Apo also said, “This century will be the century of women; women’s struggle will develop” and put forward the slogan ‘Jin, jiyan, azadi’.
Look, the current developments, the International Women’s Conference, which took place in Berlin, was an important breakthrough. Effort had been made. Again, around the slogan of ‘Jin, jiyan, azadi’, there is a women’s movement developing in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran. All of this really shows that this century will be the century of women’s liberation. Violence against women is brutal, it must be overcome. The way to this is the destruction of the male-dominated system and the nation-state. This already forms the basis of the PKK’s program. It can be said that ‘PKK is the antidote to this’. For this reason, the PKK is also a women’s party. For this reason, a women’s party, PAJK, was established together with the PKK. This is a new philosophy. The slogan ‘Jin, jiyan, azadi’ is not an ordinary thing, it is a new philosophy. The fundamental basis of a free, equal, moral society is the women’s revolution.
THE Kurds NEVER FIGHTED FOR 7 MONTHS IN THE SAME POSITION
We have left behind the 44th year of the PKK. What would you like to say for the 45th year of struggle?
The 44th year passed to the fullest. It seems that the 45th year will not be an ordinary year, it will be an important year. We have already mentioned that we are in an important period. We are in a historical period. The developments in this period will determine the color of the future. We are going through a very important period for this and the coming year will be of great importance in this context. We want to make the 45th anniversary of the PKK a great one. The resistance carried out in Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna for two years is not an ordinary thing. Against this, there is the same resistance in the whole North. Again, Leader Apo’s stance against such psychological torture is very meaningful and historical. They are pressing to take a step back. Leader Apo has risked everything for the rights of the Kurdish people, to have a place for the Kurds. He waits with great will. Besides, democratic Kurdish politics has a stance with its allies. All these show that the upcoming period will be important, not ordinary.
The guerrilla is waging war in the same position, especially in the last 7 months of resistance. Both in the history of the people of Kurdistan, in the Ottoman period and in the Republican period; Kurds have never fought in the same position for 7 months. True, the pain resistance lasted for 4 years, but apart from the intermittent and recent intensity, it developed by fighting for maybe a few hours a day. But as it is now, for 7 months, constantly day and night, resistance against all modern weapons is new. Everyone should see this. In other words, the stance of the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla led by Zap, Avaşîn and Metina is something new. For the first time, the comprehensive attack of the Turkish state was stopped. This brings the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle to a new era. There is now a stage of success in front of you. There is a new spirit. Everyone saw the spirit that emerged in Mersin in the person of Sara Tolhildan Goyî and Rûken Zelal. This spirit is the spirit that prevails in the guerrilla today. If Zap does not have such a self-sacrificing spirit, no one will be able to carry on the resistance that long. In other words, the spirit shown in the person of the sacrifice Sara and Rukens has already been shown in practice in the person of Bagers, Avzems, Arins and Şerzans. There are dozens of examples of this. In short, this is something new and takes the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle to a new level. Maybe the KDP’s stance in Southern Kurdistan reveals its empty side and although this is a subject that needs to be discussed, the Kurdish people in general are entering a new era. The Kurdish people now say ‘I am a will against the Turkish state’. Here is the will of the Kurds in the elections; Everyone needs Kurds. This is so in every field. This is a new situation and needs to be evaluated.
NATIONAL UNITY MUST BE AGENDA IN 45TH ANNIVERSARY
In this context, our people; all patriots; libertarian Kurdish women; Kurdish youth; friends of our people; Arab, Persian, Assyrian-Syriac, Armenian, Turkish and all peoples of the region should develop new interpretations within this framework. In this new era, everyone must sacrifice much more; because there is a period when we can get results. This situation should not be seen as ordinary. For this, I believe that national unity should be on the agenda in the 45th anniversary of the PKK, and I call it. Maybe not everyone can come to this union, but our people should establish their own union despite this. When it comes to national unity, it should not be understood that all Kurdish parties will come and join. No, some parties are with the enemy and they may not come. Then they should not come. Those who consider themselves patriotic should establish their unity on the basis of patriotism. National unity is a very necessary thing. It cannot be confined to one or more parties. So the attitude of some should not prevent this. Those who do not come should not come, but unity should be formed with those who come. Because the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle is now at a new stage and there are opportunities to go further. If these opportunities are not evaluated, there is a possibility of being hit. For this reason, in order for our people to live freely and equally in the lands of Kurdistan, the spirit of national unity and resistance should definitely prevail in this period, and it should come to a conclusion in this way. We have great goals and expectations in the PKK’s 45th anniversary. We have great hopes nationally and in terms of results. On this basis, I wish success to all comrades, employees, patriots, peoples of Kurdistan and brotherly peoples in the 45th anniversary of the PKK, and once again greet everyone with respect. So the attitude of some should not prevent this. Those who do not come should not come, but unity should be formed with those who come. Because the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle is now at a new stage and there are opportunities to go further.
