BEHDINAN – HPG Press Center statement stated the following:
“In the operation carried out by the invading Turkish army on the Martyr Kendal and Keşan areas of Heftanîn on September 17, 2022, our comrades Ciwana and Amara resisted the enemy forces and dealt great blows to the enemy. As a result of the effective blows of our Ciwana and Amara comrades, many enemy soldiers were punished and injured. Our comrades, who were badly injured in the intense clashes, reached martyrdom by detonating their own bombs, with the self-sacrificing attitude they displayed throughout their revolutionary lives in order not to fall into the hands of the enemy. Our freedom-loving comrades Ciwana and Amara have successfully fulfilled their mission of militancy as the successors of the line of sacrifice initiated by the Bêrîtan and Zilans. The martyrdom of these valuable comrades, who went down in the history of women’s liberation as the most valuable militants of the Women’s Freedom Struggle, has been an instruction to us to fight harder, to deepen the ideology of women’s liberation and to create a free life. With this awareness, we repeat once again the promise that we will be worthy of all our martyrs in the person of our martyr commanders Ciwana and Amara.

CIWANA CUDÎ
Botan, with its steep mountains, has been one of the most important centers for the Kurdish people to protect their national values and culture against invaders. When the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla entered Botan and started an armed struggle against the genocidal policies of the colonial Turkish state as the protector of the Kurdish existence, our patriotic Sipêrtî tribe also took a stance on the side of the freedom struggle and integrated with the PKK. Our comrade Ciwana was born and raised in a patriotic family belonging to the Sipêrtî tribe, who brought many valiant commanders into our struggle for freedom and did not hesitate to pay the price for their freedom. She closely witnessed the assimilation, uprooting and deculturation policies of the Turkish state against the Kurdish people, especially on women and youth, and she was greatly angered. Comrade Ciwana, In the environment she grew up in, she realized that the most effective struggle against these policies of the fascist Turkish state and the absolute isolation conditions imposed on Leader Apo would be in the ranks of the guerrilla. Our comrade Ciwana, who gave the greatest response to all these policies, participated in the anniversary of the February 15 International Conspiracy and showed the patriotic Kurdish youth the way of the right answer and struggle.
Our comrade Ciwana, who joined the guerrilla ranks with great enthusiasm in 2014, was loved by his comrades with his mature personality and devoted participation, and with the help of his comrades, she did not delay in adapting to the guerrilla life. Our comrade Ciwana, who brought the grudge and anger into consciousness and courageously sharpened the grudge and anger in the new warriors training he received, participated in the practice with this awareness. Our comrade, who went to the Zap area for her first practice, adapted early and participated in the practice despite the difficulty of the terrain conditions and all the impossibilities. Our comrade Ciwana, who played an active role in many actions in this field, set an example for all her comrades with her courage. Our comrade Ciwana, who is in the struggle to develop herself militarily and ideologically, has received and successfully completed branch training. Our comrade, who is now practicing as a guerrilla expert in her field, has taken firm steps towards becoming a competent YJA Star commander. Our comrade Ciwana, who has been practicing active warfare in the Zap area for a while, realized that only military development would not be a correct revolutionary attitude. On this basis, Martyr Bêrîtan participated in the Free Women’s Academy trainings and focused on understanding Leader Apo’s Women’s Liberation Ideology and free women’s principles. Our comrade Ciwana, who learned great lessons from the mistakes made in the practices she carried out during the training process and did a great internal accounting, went into practice with a strong concentration and passed as a competent YJA Star commander in the field of Heftanîn.
She made great efforts in the planning and implementation of many actions in the field of Heftanî, especially in the Revolutionary Campaign of Cenga Heftanî. She dealt heavy blows to the invaders, especially by using her specialty effectively. Our comrade, who was injured during this operation, went back to Heftanîn area despite all insistence after she received treatment and stood by her comrades as a commander and comrade. Our comrade Ciwana did not refrain from serving and working for her comrades throughout her revolutionary life, and as a humble commander, she was loved and respected by her friends wherever she went. Giving confidence to all her comrades with her courage and self-sacrifice, our comrade Ciwana played a leading role as a female commander in the Cenga Heftanîn Campaign with her participation, determined stance and courage.

AMARA CÛDI
Known for its thousands of years of ancient culture and one of the leading centers in our freedom struggle, Wan, with the establishment of our movement in the region, rekindled the hopes of freedom and united itself around our movement by sacrificing thousands of its precious children for this cause. Our comrade Amara was born in a patriotic family that has not lost this culture and its essence, despite having migrated to Istanbul for some reason. Our comrade Amara got to know the PKK at an early age due to her family being patriotic, and her sister Dilan (Bahar Günden)’s joining the guerrilla ranks further increased her love for the PKK. She closely witnessed the assimilation policies implemented by the genocidal, fascist Turkish state, especially against the Kurdish people living in metropolises, and she was greatly angered. Our comrade Amara, who refuses to deny herself, that is, to become Turkified, which is imposed on Kurdish youth in Turkish metropolises, has set an example for Kurdish youth with this stance. She did not accept the date when the truth was tried to be distorted and imposed on Kurdish youth in the assimilation schools of the Turkish state. Our comrade Amara, who felt great hatred and anger against these policies and the inhumane attacks on the Kurdish people, sought to respond to these attacks. Realizing that the biggest and most meaningful struggle that can be waged against the denial and annihilation policies of the genocidal Turkish state against the Kurdish people will be in the ranks of the guerrilla, Comrade Amara decided to join the guerrilla.
Our comrade Amara joined the guerrilla ranks in 2015, received training for new fighters in the Heftanîn field. From the moment she joined, she observed her dream guerrilla life with great admiration. Comrade Amara, who participated in life with great enthusiasm with this admiration, was influenced and focused on the comradeship relations she saw and experienced. As she intensified, she realized that camaraderie is in harmony with effort, sacrifice, love and respect, and that even a piece of it is missing will cause an incomplete camaraderie. For this reason, she did not compromise her comradeship throughout her revolutionary life and had an incalculable participation. Our comrade Amara, who has been practicing in many fields in the Heftanîn region for a long time, is based on success in her practices.
Comrade Amara, who improved herself ideologically and militarily during her stay in Heftanîn, focused on this development and performance to be a greater response to the developing war process. He received branch training in order to better understand and apply the new era professional guerrilla style and tactics. Our comrade Amara, who had a successful education process, has been in an ideological focus as well as technically specializing in this process. She has been in the struggle to better understand and vitalize Leader Apo’s Women’s Liberation Ideology. With this knowledge and awareness, our comrade Amara started to practice in Heftanîn’s field, where he had been before and knew well. Our comrade Amara, who entered the field with different ideological and military concentrations, she made great efforts to put these concentrations into practice. Our comrade Amara, who determined to lead her comrades and teach what she learned as her greatest duty, was loved and taken as a basis by her comrades with her humble personality. Our comrade Amara, who contributed to many actions that took place in the Heftanîn area, which dealt great blows to the enemy, focused on the guerrilla tactics of the new period and was in the intensification of the most effective blows to be struck against the enemy.
Our comrades Ciwana and Amara have left us a great legacy with their courage and self-sacrifice in their active war practices throughout their revolutionary lives. We promise to realize the dreams of Free Leadership and Free Kurdistan by preserving the values that our holy martyrs left us in the person of our comrades Ciwana and Amara as their successors.”
