BEHDÎNAN – An internationalist guerrilla fighter who joined the People’s Defense Units HPG in the mountains of Kurdistan reported in his diary about the cooperative dealings within the guerrilla. The internationalist Lecwan Dogan wrote in his diary:
“It’s that time again. I haven’t heard from me for a long time, it’s time to write down my thoughts again. A lot has happened in the days and weeks. I have changed my place and my task. I am very happy with the tasks and challenges in the new region.
I am progressing
My language has improved a lot and the comrades are very warm, they listen and help a lot. I’m progressing in every way, both physically and ideologically. Now I’m practically flying through the mountains. Most of the time I travel with my dear comrade Rûbar. We’ve been in the same region since we left Şervanen Nû [training of new fighters] and he himself is an older cadre of the party but also new to the mountains. Together with Heval Rûbar, but also with the other comrades, we explore the forests, valleys and mountains of Kurdistan a lot.
One of the most beautiful days
I love being in nature. With my friends here I have also learned to love the beauty of Kurdistan’s nature. A few days ago, I and comrades Delal and Viyan went out to explore nature and the surrounding area. That was very nice, one of the most beautiful days in the mountains.
When I was walking through the mountains with Heval Delal and Heval Viyan, we came to a cliff at one point. We wanted to carefully climb past along a small cliff, the abyss was about ten meters deep. Heval Viyan was not yet used to running in the mountains and lagged behind a little. Heval Delal went ahead and shook my hand as I slipped a little. Ten seconds later, I was sliding down the slope, taking Heval Delal with me. We fell and fell and I still remember my thought: “When are we going to get there?”. In the end we reached the bottom in a frenzy, holding each other tight. First, a bit shocked, I asked Heval Delal if everything was fine. It lifted my heart when I saw that everything is okay except for scratches and abrasions. The comrade and I laughed at each other when we saw we’re fine. All still there, head not broken.
That’s what being connected means
One of the truths of the PKK and of life in the mountains is Hevaltî. Hevaltî means going through fire for one another and defending the comrades and the goals of the party with great willingness to make sacrifices. It means selflessly devoting one’s life to the highest, humanity, for peace, freedom and equality. Heval Delal also ended up falling in this example because she didn’t want me to fall. That was a very nice day and it’s also a nice memory, which allows us to grow together as comrades. Heval Viyan, who was a little behind, had half a heart attack and was a lot more restless than we who fell ten meters. Me and Heval Delal wanted to run straight on and Heval Viyan said we were crazy.
War is a strange thing. War is full of contradictions. For us in Europe, war is always something abstract, far away. At least for today’s generation. Nevertheless, Europe is the center of the war. Instead of being fought in the 20th century and the centuries before, war is now being fought in the Middle East and other regions of the world. I’m talking about physical warfare. In terms of war against its own society, Europe is in the process of decimating itself. Nowhere have social morals and values, which surround and hold society together like a protective bond, suffered so much.
Like a cancer
Liberalism is rolling like a cancer over European society, carrying out a cultural and moral genocide. We can see liberalism as the ideology of capitalism. His goal is to drive society apart to the last corner according to the motto “Everyone is responsible for his own happiness”. Society is being dissolved in favor of egoism. All morality, all sanctity, all respect for life, man and nature are lost. The existence is downgraded to an animal existence. Man reverses into an animal.
All successes, all advances that man has produced, from inventions to the value system, he has produced as a society. The uniqueness, the strength, the beauty of man lies in society. To break this social bond that protects and advances people is to wipe out society. For what? In capitalism, through the ideology of liberalism, through lies like the American dream, through an “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” philosophy, society is being driven apart down to the individual as never before in history. As divided as society is, it is also easy to control.
Tens of thousands of laws without morals
Nowhere in the world is the military-power complex so firmly established and internalized as in European society. The state penetrates to the deepest levels of society. There’s almost nothing he doesn’t have a hand in. Anyone who looks at a German law book knows what I’m talking about. Where the state and its laws are strong, society and its morals are weak and vice versa. The fact that society accepts it at all when the state interferes everywhere is a sign that society there is weak.
An ethical society does not need a state and tens of thousands of laws to regulate its affairs. Nor does she accept being so deeply involved in life. In Europe, nationalism and racism, which have become the new religion, have made the nation state a sacred authority. What formerly represented God is now represented by the nation-state. His word is law. He is above everything else. Nothing and nobody is allowed to question his authority. Anyone who opposes him is a “godless” or “terrorist” and should be imprisoned or wiped out. The “holy war” waged in the 20th century in the name of the new god, the nation-state, surpasses the atrocities and crimes of all of human history: God wills it! The war today is more subtle and is reflected in moral misery, the disappearance of people’s culture. People are being broken in such a way that military brute force is not needed on the scale it used to be.”
