BEHDINAN – The Turkish army launched an invasion attack on Medya Defense Zones on April 14, 2022. The invading army, which could not achieve the desired result even after 6 months, repeatedly used chemical weapons against the Kurdistan Freedom Forces. HGP has shared the information and images that the invaders use chemical weapons with the public many times so far.
HPG guerrilla Dr. Dersim gathered information about the chemical weapons and gases used by the Turkish army, especially in the last two years, and examined the guerrillas affected by the chemical attacks. Serbilind Dersim told ANF about the types of chemical weapons used and their effects.
In the last two years, we have witnessed the intense use of chemical weapons by the Turkish army in the invasion attacks. Why do you think chemical weapons and gases are now indispensable methods of the invading army?
First of all, I would like to start my words by commemorating our friends who were martyred during this last war. I respectfully commemorate all martyrs, especially Baz Mordem and Helbest Koçerîn, who were martyred by the chemical weapons used by the Turkish army in the last period. At the same time, I respectfully greet our friends who resisted and fought against these brutal attacks of the Turkish army in the war tunnels with the spirit of the Apoist self-sacrifice.
As it is known, we have been in an intense struggle with the Turkish army for 40 years. Especially in the last 7 years, a very intense uninterrupted war has been going on. Especially the last two years of this war are spent with the struggle against the chemical weapons used by the Turkish army against our forces. We can say that the Turkish army experienced a complete blockage in this process. Because he is experiencing a defeat against the guerrilla. He also resorts to chemical weapons as an expression of this defeat. In other words, he resorts to chemical weapons because he has no other choice.
The Turkish army does not hesitate to use these chemical weapons against our forces, against our friends, by ignoring all international agreements and all values on behalf of humanity. Despite the fact that they have rained rockets on us with their warplanes and helicopters in recent years, they have been patrolling our forces with their SİHAs and UAVs, which they are proud of, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At the same time, they bombard battlefields every day with their tanks, artillery and howitzers. Besides, as if it were not enough, they are in an intense attack against our forces with their soldiers from the ground, even the ‘Bordeaux Berets’ and, where they are not enough, with al-Nusra from Syria and their gangs recruited from ISIS. But none of them selflessly resisted, they are helpless against our friends who not only resist but also strike the enemy with our mobile teams with the latest professional guerrilla tactics. As a result of this desperation, they carry out an intense chemical weapon attack.
THEY CARRY CHEMICALS BY CAPSULATING
Despite many images and evidence published, it is claimed that chemical weapons were not used by the Turkish state front. What would you say about the theses and explanations they put forward?
Unfortunately, 17 of our friends were martyred as a result of the use of chemical weapons. Yes, when this was on the agenda, the Turkish state and the media hastily tried to deny it. They even tried to openly deny some of the so-called experts that they feed on their own TVs through some self-proclaimed individuals. Here are some discourses such as ‘the honorable Turkish army does not use chemical weapons’. To put it bluntly, it is out of the question for us to use a style that will speak to anyone’s honor, but neither the army nor the honor remained in this war. Today, those who burned their own soldiers, burned the corpses of their soldiers, and threw the corpses of soldiers from the cliffs so that they would not fall into the hands of the guerrilla forces,
At the same time, the following expressions are used; ‘If the Turkish army used chemical weapons, they would also wear protective suits’. It should be said that; now when soldiers carry any explosive, from any grenade to a cannonball or mortar shell, they don’t need to dress like a bomb disposal expert. Why? Because that explosive was encapsulated, it was turned into ammunition. It will only explode if activated by a detonator or trigger mechanism. Likewise, the Turkish army encapsulated some chemicals, turned some into mortar shells, and prepared some in the form of cylinders and turned them into ammunition. Persons carrying it do not need to wear any protective clothing as long as they do not detonate by means of a detonator. We can clearly see this in the images broadcast by our friends on TV. They give gas to the war tunnels by remotely detonating the ammunition prepared in this way at the entrances of our war tunnels.
TURKISH ARMY PRODUCES GAS ON THE BATTLE FIELD
So, what chemicals and gases has the Turkish army been using against the guerrilla forces that have taken over the territory of Southern Kurdistan recently? What data did you collect, especially on the guerrillas that you personally examined?
In line with the information coming from the battlefields and the examination we made to our friends coming from there, according to some data that our friends conveyed to us; The Turkish army clearly uses suffocating gases. The most decisive of these is chlorine gas. The Turkish army itself produces chlorine gas on the battlefield. On what basis do we say this? It is used in large quantities on battlefields, more commonly known as spirit of salt, and its chemical name is hydrochloric acid, and it is used extensively in homes as a cleaning material. It is also bleach, which is Sodiumhypochloric acid. Note that both acid-containing substances contain chlorine. When these two substances come together, a chlorinated gas that is very suffocating, irritating and harmful to the eyes and respiratory system is released.
There are thousands of people in Turkey who have been poisoned by using chlorine gas, that is, Hypochlorite bleach and spirit of salt, while cleaning their homes, and therefore applied to the emergency department. They can open their own hospital records and look. Our people know this very clearly. Why? Because these are daily life materials. The Turkish army says there are no chemical weapons in our inventory, among our ammunition. But he himself produces chlorine gas in battlefields with some known chemicals of this kind. They even lay pipes up to the mouth of the war tunnels and pump them into the war tunnels through aspirators. These are topics that are very clearly illustrated, with very clear evidence.
Frankly, the gas that our martyred friend Baz Mordem suffered and was exposed to is such a gas. We understand this from the fact that the irritation in our friend’s lungs indicates that he was exposed to this type of suffocating gas. Because of the intense edema that occurs in the lungs, due to the cracking of the capillaries, a red, pinkish, brown liquid comes out of our friend’s mouth, as can be clearly seen in the images. It has been determined that this fluid is not a result of vomiting but a fluid coming from his lungs. We can say this clearly.
At the same time, I would like to share with you some information about the gas used against the martyr Helbest Koçerîn. The gas used there is one of the narcotic gases in the capacity reducing gases class. Among them is a gas called ‘Buzz 15’ with the BZ code. At the same time, maybe there is the drug LSD, which is one of the drugs known among the public. This LSD is a type of drug that is usually affixed on sticker labels in front of the school, used by sticking the adhesive part on the skin, or used by sucking under the tongue. But gasification of it has quite lethal consequences. Which is one of the gases used against us. Of course, there are different types of narcotic gas. Like fentanyl derivatives with its chemical name. I don’t want to go into too much technical detail, but what do these gases do? It makes the person ecstatic and unable to fight. What is also seen in our Helbest friend is that our friend was completely exposed to such a chemical. The friend seems to be ecstatic and hallucinating under the influence of the chemical. It gives different reactions that it never gives in daily life. She experiences mood disorders such as being overjoyed or overly sad. This is clear proof that our friend was exposed to this kind of drug gas.
TURKISH ARMY DOES NOT PRODUCE CHEMICALS ALONE
What measures do guerrilla forces take against the use of chemical weapons?
As we said, the Turkish army is trying to cope with the resistance determination of the guerrilla forces with chemicals, since the Turkish army could not get any results despite such attacks. He thinks he can only get results with this chemical. Of course, our friends have very limited measures against this. We had some problems with precautions in some very limited places. Unfortunately, this situation led to some undesirable martyrdoms. But again, our friends continue this struggle by resisting the Turkish army until the end despite the chemical bombardments, even by developing actions on the basis of breaking these attacks and inflicting heavy losses on the enemy. The Turkish army is in a decisive defeat, we can say that. Of course, while saying this, the Turkish army does not make these chemicals alone. It procures some of these chemicals from NATO countries. For example, he uses tear gas. Already, this tear gas is a UK-made gas with the code CS. It is a gas supplied from there. Frankly, the Turkish army has the full support of NATO. The Turkish state is in an intense attack against us in this way.
Finally, what kind of calls do you have to international organizations dealing with chemical weapons?
Finally, I want to say this. In some publications or statements made by some people against the use of chemical weapons by the Turkish army, words like if or wonder are used. There is no ‘what if’ or ambiguity; the situation is clear. The Turkish army’s use of chemical weapons is clearly and tangibly proven with evidence. Just for this, we invite independent organizations and international organizations to our spaces to conduct on-site investigations and prepare reports. All necessary support and facilities will be provided by HPG forces in this regard. That’s why we invite them again. Let them come; Let them examine the battlefields, war tunnels and conflict areas and share their results openly with the whole public.
