BEHDİNAN – The YJA Star Press Center published a statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Gurbettelli Ersoz.
The statement is as follows;
“On the anniversary of the martyrdom of Gurbetteli Ersoz, who is a revolutionary journalist and has a great work in creating the tradition of free press, we remember her with endless respect and love. When we remember our women martyrs of the press on the path of the truth of Gürbettelians, because of the connection to their memory, we repeat our promise that we will raise the line of free press.
In the 90s, when people do political and political work for the Kurdish people, it was a big crime. Gurbetteli Ersoz served as the board of management of Ozgur Gundem newspaper in Turkey, she became the brave voice of the people and became an important symbol, a leadership of women. She listened to the people’s cries for freedom, she approached the issue of freedom with a great responsibility of enlightenment and became the voice of the Kurdish people’s cry for freedom. Because she was a journalist in Turkey, Turkish fascism arrested her and after she was released, she realized her great revolutionary position in the field of leadership. There, in terms of the class problem, the problem of nation and gender, she has gained an important intellectual memory and has already gone to the mountains of Kurdistan. Gurbetteli Ersoz, who is a revolutionary journalist, has deepened her strong opinions on the line of a free woman and is involved in the activities of the central membership of YAJK. received As a central member of the YAJK, she was martyred in the Sergel Valley on October 7, 1997, along with a group of women while crossing from the Zap area to the Gare area.
In the place where Comrade Gurbettelli Ersoz was martyred, today thousands of freedom fighters are fighting against those who used to fight the Kurdish people for brotherhood, and are fighting a great war of freedom. Against the efforts of those on the line of betrayal, the march of Gurbettelians has never been stopped. On the contrary, those who follow in the footsteps of Gürbetteli, with their pens and cameras, have given the truth to the society about oppression in Kurdistan. Deniz Firat, Nujiyan Erhan, India Penaber, Zelal Sidem, Ekin Van, Jiyan Amargi and dozens of female friends have deciphered the dirty games of private war as great fighters of the truth. If Nujiyan Erhan had not documented how the Peshmerga of the KDP surrendered Shengal to ISIS, the special war would have left our Yezidi community deaf, blind and dumb. If Jiyan Amargı did not put the Botan guerrillas in his cadre, he would have manipulated the people with the special war of the oppressor and fascist TC, with his psychological operations. From Sakine Cansizan to Gulnaz Karataşan, from Mine Çelebiyan to Gurbetteli Ersozan, from Deniz Firatan to Arjin Amedan, from Shilan Arasan to Hebun Azadan, from Avashin Irmakan to Rojinda Adalaran, from Sarya Onuran to Tamara Zinan, from Armanc Goshkaran to Jiyan Amargiyan, from From Gulnaz Egeyan to Amara Ronahiyan, female martyrs of the free press, they became the eyes, ears, heart, intellect and conscience of the truth of the revolution. With their fight for the truth, they have become the honorable and dignified position of Kurdish women. The female martyrs of the free press have paid the price on the path of truth and have become the true leaders of the press.
The Kurdish Freedom Movement has entered into a great struggle against the dominant history that has denied the existence of the Kurdish people since the beginning. For the Kurdish truth to take its rightful place in history, thousands of fighters for the truth have seen it as an honor to sacrifice their lives. If the Kurdish people have become the leading force in the Middle East today, it has been thanks to great sacrifices. Thousands of freedom fighters fighting in the line of the free press have played an important role in revealing the historical betrayal against the Kurdish people. When necessary, they continued to fight for the truth with their pens and cameras and when necessary with their weapons. In this sense, the martyred women of the free press are the revival force of the truth. The martyred women of the free press are the searchers of the truth that has been lost in these areas. The female martyrs of the free press are a strong representative of the awareness of women’s freedom and the proof of women’s will. In this sense, the tradition of free press is the legacy of great works. Unlike the classical media that only follow daily events, the free media is the most important of all the democratic institutions of the oppressed, which derives its strength from the historical perspective of the oppressed. With this awareness, we can claim to go deeper in the women’s line of the free press and have a practice that is worthy of the martyred women of the free press.
The female martyrs of the free press, the bright torch of the path of truth, are our main morale and strength in the victory of our war of truth. They were revolutionaries in the most difficult conditions, never giving up their cameras and pens. Remembering them and taking care of the values they created makes our march even stronger. We exist thanks to their struggle. They gave their lives for the truth. And today dozens of media organizations in all corners of Kurdistan, the Middle East and Europe broadcast in the color of women and report women’s struggle to the whole world. The work of our martyrs, both in the Kurdish people’s struggle to convey the truth to the society, and in the struggle for women’s self-expression and expression of their will, cannot be forgotten.
Our martyrs are real representatives of goodness, beauty and truth and are the basis of our struggle. Recognizing, remembering and not forgetting them is the encounter of a free woman with the truth of the history of struggle. On this basis, we will always remember the light of the struggle of our martyrs and we will never deviate from the path of truth that they have shown us. We repeat our promise to keep them alive in our struggle, we express our determination and insistence that we will continue our insistence on raising their flag in our struggle for freedom.”
