BEHDINAN – YJA-Star guerillas talked about the 30th anniversary of the martyrdom of Beritan (Gulnaz Karataş) and the women’s army. YJA-Star guerillas drew attention to the activity in Mersin and stated that guerillas are everywhere.
One of the YJA-Star guerillas, Stêra Sîser, drew attention to the self-sacrificing action that the female guerillas did in Mersin against the occupation of the Turkish state and said, “They are the followers of Berîtan and Zilan”
The YJA-Star guerilla focused on Béritan’s personality and said, “On the occasion of the martyr Béritan’s (Gulnaz Karataş) anniversary, we remember this holy day. For us, this day is a day of martyrdom and a day of sadness. But at the same time, Comrade Beritan personally proved that women can fight against the army of the Turkish state and the whole world. That’s why we celebrate this day as a women’s army.”
Gerila Stêra also focused on the roles of social sexism and said, “A woman is not only responsible for housework, a woman can take up arms and fight. The policy against women is the destruction of women’s will. Women are seen as family tools and the system wants to continue this way. But personalities like Beritan changed this attitude towards women. Dear Sara, dear Béritan, dear Delal and all the women who worked in this women’s revolution, we remember them on this day. We are indebted to these friends. We are trying to be worthy of the legacy of these friends.”
‘WOMEN HAVE BEEN IN THE ARMY FOR 30 YEARS’
The Star Guerrilla showed that they are putting up a great resistance and said that “We YJA Star also entered our 30th anniversary. In these 30 years, we are the followers of these friends who gave their life and work in the end of this road. All these years passed with hard work. Women fought against the concept of male dominance and did not submit. Thanks to Rêber Apo’s thoughts and philosophy, women have reached the level of knowing themselves and no one can stand in front of them. Women want their freedom and women are entitled. Women are not only for housework. A woman is not for a man. Women today are fighting for their whole lives. They are also guerrillas at the top of the mountain. They stand in the ranks, they fight in the front lines, they fight against the oppressors. They fight in the war fronts as Beritans. They throw themselves off the rocks. They never accept surrender. They never accept slavery.”
“WOMEN CLAIM FREEDOM”
Stêra Guerrilla defined the current war as a war of freedom and said, “Women are fighting in Avashin, Zap, Metina. Women are fighting for a free and equal life, to get their rights, for their will. To avoid a woman who has no right to speak, she struggles in war and life. A woman can speak everywhere with Leader Apo’s thoughts and philosophy and no one can silence her.”
‘GO ONE THERE WILL BE THOUSANDS’
At the end of her speech, Guerilla Stêra evaluated the activity in Mersin that was carried out by the fedayi forces and said, “The activity in Mersin took place in the person of friends Rüken and Heval Sara.” They were followers of Zilan and Beritan. With this action, they destroyed the false propaganda of the Turkish occupation. They used to say that the guerrilla cannot enter the metropolis, but it turned out that when the guerrilla wants to enter the cities and take action. Friend Sara and friend Rukken did not go by plane. They left their bodies. They proved that women will always fight for the freedom of their people and country in the face of this occupation mentality. The action of the friends shook the world. It turns out that even if they want to destroy us, we still exist. We at YJA Star are everywhere. Martyrs are very sacred for us. If a Sara goes, thousands of Saras will come, if a Ruken goes, thousands of Rukens will come. We are never gone. No matter how much the occupying state comes with scouts, planes and cannons, we will not stop. They cannot destroy us with their technology. Because we have a philosophy. It is this philosophy that allows us to survive and stand on our own.”
‘OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF WOMEN’S ARMY’
YJA Star Çavre Zagros guerilla reminded women’s duties and said “We entered the month of October. In October, our commander Comrade Beritan was martyred. This month is the month of the women’s army for us due to the martyrdom of our friend Beritan. The women’s army lives and fights in the mountains, this is something different for women. We live and fight with the philosophy of leadership. We YJA Star guerillas will follow Leader Apo’s philosophy until the end and fight until the freedom of Leader Apo and our people. In this war, the mission that falls on the side of YJA Star is very high. We act with this duty and responsibility. YJA Star gives color to life and its duty is to sustain life. The way to continue life is the freedom of our Leader. We feel all this responsibility on ourselves. Now our friends are fighting in the battlefields. Everyone should feel this war and grow their struggle accordingly.”
The YJA Star Çekjin Delil also remembered the martyrs of the women’s army at the beginning of her speech and continued her speech as follows: “We are celebrating the 30th year of the women’s army. Until today, a lot of work has been done and many heroic martyrs have sacrificed their lives. It is our duty to make our struggle even higher against this labor and blood. Especially in order to stop the attacks on our people and women, women should rise up first. We will not remain silent in the face of attacks.”
“WE ARE ON THE TRAIL OF THE MARTYRS”
Çekjin Delil continued her speech and said, “We are now in the month of October. This month is very important. October 25th is the martyrdom anniversary of our great commander Beritan (Gulnaz Karataş). Comrade Beritan, rebelled against submission and betrayal and sacrificed herself for her people and country. The power of women who followed in the footsteps of the martyrs Beritan, Sarayan, and Delalan reached their 30th birthday this month and the power of women is getting bigger every day.”
‘WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BIG WAR’
In her speech, YJA-Star Çekjin Delil focused on the importance of women in the army and stated that “The people take morale from the strength of women and ended his speech as follows: the line they started, we will fight. We will raise our struggle. We, YJA Star, are currently in a unique struggle and action and we are fighting against the invading enemy. With the women’s army, women now lead the revolution in all fields. With every attack on the woman, the woman increases the feelings of revenge in her heart. The woman is the leader of the war. Women are determined to achieve success. Our war is a self-sacrificing war. YJA Star is the devoted power of Leader Apo and of all the people of the world. We celebrate the 30th anniversary of YJA-Star in Rêber Apo, to our colleagues, They congratulate their friends who are under the torture of the occupation and their people. We will bring this war to victory and fulfill the wishes of all our people.”
