MEXMUR – Rubar Spindarok, who lived in Maxmur and went to the Leader’s Field in 97, told Nuçe Ciwan Agency about his time with Leader Apo and said, “The thing that caught my attention the most in the Leadership was that not a single day passed without looking at the pictures of the martyrs. Every day, he would first look at the pictures of the martyrs, then return to us and start the lesson. This reveals the Leader’s loyalty to the martyrs and their comradeship with them.” he said.
Rubar Spindarok also touched upon the meaning of Leader Apo’s physical freedom, “Until our Leader is liberated, our existence as Kurds has no meaning. Every Kurdish people should claim the Leadership.”
‘Speaking with the leadership is very different, difficult to describe’
We spoke to him on the phone before we went to see the Leader. There were 5 of us when they gave us an appointment and said you will talk to the Leader. I remember, it was 11:00 and they said, “Prepare yourselves, the Leadership will talk to you on the phone.” For the first time, we would talk to the Leader and hear his voice. We were very excited. The friend next to us noticed that he told us to calm down.
The leadership would ask us to understand how the martyrdom of Hashim and Qehreman friends, who died in Ava Mezin, had developed. As we talked, we introduced ourselves. Of course, talking to the Leader is very different, it’s hard to describe. When the leadership talked to us, they realized that we were too excited. He was very comfortable talking to us and trying to put us at ease. However, we could not get over our excitement and could not answer his questions as he wanted. This is how the dialogue went, and we were lucky to be able to talk to him for a few minutes.
‘You will go to the Leader’s Field’
Later, the Leadership commissioned us and we went to Shengal in 1997. Friends said, “We will make your arrangement for training”. At that moment, a suggestion developed by chance, which was not something I had thought of before. “Since our work has stopped and I will go to training, then I will go to the Leadership Field.” I said. The friend said, “We don’t have such a plan, but I will give all of it to the Leader tomorrow. If the Leader agrees, we will send you.” When it was 11:00, the friend gave the Leader a kick and the Leader said, “Come, where will he come from?” said. Friends also reported that I came from Shengal. The Leadership had agreed and that’s how I went to the Leader. We were in Berûşka Village when that friend came. He was very happy and smiling when he arrived. Before he even reached me, I said to him, “How good are you”. He said, “I will give you good news, but you will be calm.” said. And I was like, “Why was I accepted?” When he asked, the friend said, “Yes, you will go to the Leadership Field”. Believe me, I didn’t sleep at all that night. At that time I was staying in a house. The landlord called his friends and said, “This friend does not stay in place neither morning nor evening. You’d better come and take care of it. Because it doesn’t stay still.” he said.
It was a great excitement. Why was I so excited? Because I met hundreds of friends who wanted to see the Leader but could not. Either they were martyred, their proposals were not accepted, or they went half way and came back half way. When I was a courier myself, it was fate for me, not them. That’s why I was so excited. When we got to the academy, the Leadership was not ready. The leadership made an appointment for us and said, “I will come to see friends from the country.” he said. We reached the point in the morning and as soon as it was noon we all thought of it. Our eyes were always on the door. Suddenly they started making preparations and said that the Leadership will come.
‘The leadership did not sit down and stood with us’
Of course, I cannot explain the moment when the Leadership came. The leadership was walking and there were friends around. They came and entered among your friends. We had lunch together, it was our first meal. They had set the leader’s table apart and we were all standing. The leadership did not sit down and stood with us. When we started to eat, the Leadership went into the friends and shared their meals and asked why don’t you finish your plates.
He asked about the state of the country. We said that we came from Shengal. When I said that we came from Shengal, the Leadership was very happy. He asked where the other friends were and I said that they were staying there and only me. Then he asked about the nature and weather of the place and asked if the guerrilla could settle in the Shengal mountains. Then what do you want to say to me? Have you ever asked about Derwêş and Edûle?” he asked us. Since I haven’t asked about Derwêş’î or Edule yet, I didn’t answer his question. I just said, “No, sir”. Leadership;” How do you work then? How do you discover new things? How will you understand these people? An epic was written there and you do not know this epic, so of course you work hard.”
The leadership made my direct analysis there. Because we did not carry out such a sacred work to protect the people there. Everything about the leadership was clear from hour to hour. The Leadership came in on the first day of the training, then “Roj chief Friends!” He said and gestured for us to sit down. The picture of the martyrs was hanging on the wall, and that was the Martyr Mahsum Korkmaz Academy. The leadership also looked at the photographs one by one and began to analyze them. I stayed there for about 7-8 months.
‘He would first look at the pictures of the martyrs, then return to us and start the lesson’
The thing that caught my attention the most in the Leadership was that not a single day passed without looking at the pictures of the martyrs. Every day, he would first look at the pictures of the martyrs, then return to us and start the lesson. This reveals the Leader’s loyalty to the martyrs and their comradeship with them. He approached them as if they were alive and was inspired by them. The leadership’s feelings towards us were very different. When he lifted us up for discussion, he knew our personality directly. He picked me up once and changed his style when he saw that I was so excited.
The leadership said to us, “You are working people, you put in tremendous efforts, you have the courage, but why don’t you ideologicalize your courage?” he was saying. Another thing that caught my attention was the Leader’s approach to women. When he talked about the country, he would talk about the woman first. If a boyfriend was going to be interested in friends, he was three times as interested in a female friend. He would talk about what he brought to the head of male slavery and how he should fight it. The Leadership was giving a very sacred labor to the woman, we ourselves are witness to this labor of the Leader.
‘Why are you such people, why don’t you understand right away?’
The leadership once said, “I am a human being too, my place is clear, who I am, where I am from, who I am is all clear. But I organize myself hour by hour. I’m always reviewing my mistakes. But you can live empty-handed for hours. Empty living destroys people. So fill your time. Why are you such people, why don’t you understand right away?” The lead was very fast. When he said something, he must have seen a product.
Apart from that, the Leader told us, “I only sleep 4 hours, I only set aside 4 hours for myself. But do not think that I slept well in these 4 hours. In my sleep, I think about work and struggle again.”
Leadership one day; He said, “Let the friends from the country come, let’s play football together.” At that time, Abu Bakr was there and he wanted to set up a team of his own. Of course, the Leadership did not accept and said, “Friends from the country who know and do not know will play. “Because when we played it, we knew it wasn’t just a game, it was also an education. Our match was very exciting. Abu Bakr asked the Leader to extend it for 10 more minutes, but the Leader refused and said, “This game has an hour, neither a minute more nor a minute less.” he said, and as an hour passed, the Leader left the game.
Leadership really gave us spirit. He brought us back to life. But we, 40 million people, could not liberate our Leader. This is a great embarrassment for us. Our existence as Kurds is meaningless until our leadership is liberated. Every Kurdish people should embrace the Leadership.
