NEWS CENTER – Two internationalists present in North and East Syria, at Rojava, shared a message with a video in solidarity towards the political prisoners of Kurdistan as well as demanding the Freedom of Abdullah Ocalan. They also remembered the political prisoners of the fascist Salazar dictatorship of Portugal and the cruelties of the regime against the Portuguese revolutionaries:
“During the fascist dictatorship in Portugal, thousands of people who opposed the regime, fighting and clamoring for the freedom of all people, were arrested and tortured in fascist prisons and concentration camps. At that time a song came out of the prison walls with the tone of revolt and resistance of the anti-fascist prisoners.
Today, as Portuguese internationalists in the liberated territories of West Kurdistan (Rojava), we sing this song again in solidarity with the thousands of militants imprisoned by Turkey, Iran, Syria, Iraq, as well as the European states, because of their struggle for freedom in Kurdistan. We remember the resistance that in the 1980s became legendary in Amed prison, under the vanguard of comrades like Mazlum Doğan, Kemal Pir, Mehmet Xeiry Durmuş, Ali Çiçek and Akif Yilmaz, who with their determination stood up against surrender, becoming martyrs.
We also call attention to the incarceration of Abdullah Ocalan, held in solitary confinement for almost 24 years, years, the target of an international conspiracy led by the US and Israeli intelligence services. The attacks of the great powers on the Kurdish movement prove that it represents one of the greatest threats to the system and to the incorporation of the Middle East into capitalist modernity. This struggle now gives hope not only to the Kurdish people, but to all those who seek a way out of this increasingly dystopian system, to all those who seek an end to oppression and exploitation.
As Mazlum Doğan said: surrender is treason, resistance brings victory!
Berxwedan Jiyan e! Resistance is life!”
Lyrics:
Long hallways,
in the dark we go through,
under the fierce look of the guards,
but not even the light that we loose from our eyes
makes us loose the faith in our comrades,
go comrade,
one more step,
a star is already rising,
each string of will is two arms
and each arm a lever
each string of will is two arms
and each arm is a lever
I hear the walls crumble,
the iron bars of our prison breaking,
tremble henchmen,
that death awaits you,
in the aurora of fire of liberation
I hear the walls crumble,
the iron bars of our prison breaking,
tremble henchmen,
that death awaits you,
in the aurora of fire of liberation
You can cut my body with your whip,
You can shut up my scream,
But if its to live with the soul on your knees,
Its much more worth to die with a risen face,
go comrade,
one more step,
a star is already rising,
each string of will is two arms
and each arm a lever
each string of will is two arms
and each arm is a lever
I hear the walls crumble,
the iron bars of our prison breaking,
tremble henchmen,
that death awaits you,
in the aurora of fire of liberation
I hear the walls crumble,
the iron bars of our prison breaking,
tremble henchmen,
that death awaits you,
in the aurora of fire of liberation
