TEHRAN – According to unofficial sources and some information from digital media and eyewitnesses, Iran’s notorious torture prison Evin is said to be on fire.
Footage shows fire and smoke emanating from the building complex. It is very likely that the political prisoners in Section 209 of Evin prison revolted and took steps again to disband this prison. The security system at Evin prison in Tehran is one of the most advanced in the Middle East and escaping is not easy. Recently, however, a large number of political prisoners were transferred to Evin prison and the number of Iranian prisoners has increased due to the uprising and the regime’s repression. Despite the Iranian regime’s response to the rebellion with genocide and cruel and immoral methods, in the past four weeks prisoners have tried to abolish prisons in Sinê, Raşt, Merîvan and this time in Tehran.
Frightening scenes of fire &sounds of gun fire out of Evin prison tonight in Tehran. With 1000s arrested these past weeks, Evin is packed and any kind of devestation like this could result in a potential massacre. This is extremely alarming. #مهسا_امینی pic.twitter.com/etDrYIgVD2
