BEHDÎNAN – The KJK Coordination issued a written statement on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Heval Beritan (Gülnaz Karataş).
The KJK explained:
“We commemorate Heval Ş. Beritan, the pioneering commander of the era of heroic women, with love, respect and gratitude on the 30th anniversary of her martyrdom and we bow with respect to her memory. In the 21st century, which is the century of women, Comrade Ş. Beritan held a very important place against Turkish fascism and the treacherous KDP reality. Her determined cry of “I will never give up” on the cliffs of Lelikan, spreading her hatred against the enemy and promising victory to her people and women, left an indelible mark on the memories of the peoples and women of the Resistance in the 21st century. Ş. Beritan, who is the honorable resistance of her people and women in search of freedom,
The explanation of the KJK coordination made it clear further:
“Rebêr APO wrote to the great honor of the resistance and heroism of the women represented in the person of Ş. Beritan expressed great importance and decided to create the Women’s Army to make this heroism a lasting and historic achievement in the absolute sense. The women’s army has passed through very important historical processes and great wars to the present time and has honored the heroism of Ş. Beritan and this unique legacy brought even more heroism and meaning. Here, in their thirtieth year, our YJA star guerrilla is on a march that will crown that great legacy and attack the enemy with heads held high, victory consciousness and style. Ş. Beritan, the principle of the woman who becomes free by fighting, who becomes beautiful by being free, in her own life,
What emerges today in the women’s rebellions that arose after the assassination of Jîna Emînî in Rojhilat Kurdistan and have spread throughout the world, the slogan “Jin Jîyan Azadî” that almost everyone in these protests shouted with one voice, is also the truth that comes along this way, Ş. Beritan opened on the basis of army formation. It is the magical truth that spreads from the language of the Rebêr APO in the minds of women, in the veins of society and in the living spaces. One of the forerunners of this truth is the great commander Ş. Beritan who played a role in the construction of this base. Her quest for freedom, her rebellion against slavery and betrayal, her love, her hevaltî, her nationality and her tenacity to create free women, made her the great leader in women’s history. We have from Ş. Beritan learned that with constant struggle, awareness of victory, rebellion and awareness of freedom, we can attain freedom, and we marched.
Today our women guerrilla fighting against the enemy is the work of Ş. Sara and Ş. Rûken who did not flinch even in the face of the enemy’s chemical and tactical nuclear weapons, who ran towards the enemy in Mersin without batting an eyelid, even with their last breath, the work of Ş. Beritan. It is the work of thousands of our fallen comrades who are faithful to her and want to be an answer to her, who recognize and create themselves in the truth of Rebêr APO and free women. Today, in YJA Star’s 30th year, our female guerrillas continue their glorious and storied march with great determination, demonstrating that women mean life and freedom on a daily and immediate basis. In the person of Şehid Beritan, we reverently remember all our Şehids who marched to victory with the color and style of free women and rewrote the history of women and humanity in new and indelible ways. Greetings again to all YJA Star combatants and command structures in the war tunnels, mobile teams in the field, north, south, in the fields, in combat positions, and on the anniversary of Ş’s martyrdom. Beritan, may the 30th anniversary of the Women’s Army bring happiness to all our women’s units. At the same time, we applaud the actions of the YJA Star, which are shaking the enemy with coherent actions, and we wish and congratulate them on their continued success.
