NEWS CENTER – As part of the investigation carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Ankara office of the Mezopotamya Agency (MA) was raided. While the police search continued in the office, the house where the MA and JINNEWS reporters were located was also raided by the police. MA Ankara correspondent Zemo Ağgöz was also detained in a raid on his house.
As part of the operation, MA reporter Selman Güzelyüz raided Amed’s Kayapınar district and Hakan Yalçın’s house in Van. During the searches conducted in the houses, the magazines Democratic Modernity and Jineology and many books were seized by the police. After the searches, Güzelyüz and Yalçın were detained.
In Amed, the house of JINNEWS reporter Habibe Eren in Kayapınar district was raided. After the searches, JINNEWS reporters Habibe Eren and Derya Ren were detained.
JINNEWS reporter Öznur Değer was also detained in the raid on her house in Kızıltepe, Mardin.
In Urfa, MA reporters Emrullah Acar and Ceylan Şahinli were detained. Police raided the house of MA reporter Emrullah Acar in Urfa. After the searches, Acar was taken into custody. Acar’s family home in the Dargeçit district of Mardin was also raided and many books were confiscated.
The house of MA Editor-in-Chief Diren Yurtsever in Istanbul was raided. A large number of books were confiscated during house searches. Yurtsever was later detained and taken to the Istanbul Security Directorate on Vatan Street.
