NEWS CENTER – YPG PRESS Center shared a video and statement in the memory of Şehid Amara Ronahi:
“We will never forget the work and sacrifice of comrade Amara
The revolution of Western Kurdistan and North-Eastern Syria was built with hard work, sacrifice and relentless heroism. In the most difficult moments of the war of occupation, thousands of young Kurds from all four sides of Kurdistan went to the battlefields of Rojava and fought with great courage knowing that the danger to Rojava is the danger to the whole of Kurdistan and wrote heroic epics. Certainly, in the most difficult and dangerous days, the guerillas of the People’s Defense Forces left the mountains of Kurdistan for the plains and cities and gave their lives as a shield against the Daesh gangs. One of those guerrillas was the martyr Amara Ronahi, whose real name is Gamze Laçin.
Comrade Amara, who in 2014 moved from the northern mountains of Kurdistan to the city of Kobanê, witnessed the brutality of the Daesh gangs and took her place in the front lines with the anger of revenge and, together with her companions, preached the good news of the liberation of the city of Kobanê to the Kurdish people and the whole world.
As much as Comrade Amara put up a lot of hard work and sacrifice in the hardships of the war, she also put in a lot of hard work in the work and activities of the YPG Communication Center. Like comrades Agiri, Aylûl, Haqî, Xerib and Cansher, comrade Amara also became the voice of YPJ and YPG fighters. Through her objective, she showed the difficulty of the war in Rojava and the resilience of the fighters to the whole world. During the moments following her in the war, she was very careful about attacks on women and children. She saw their suffering, the oppression of them as the oppression of herself, and she did whatever was necessary for it, without hesitation or calculation.
Comrade Amara once again took a leadership role in her communication process and actively took her place in every part of the YPG’s communication work. In all moments of her life, she was among her comrades. Sometimes with her tambourine, sometimes with her clear voice, and sometimes with the narration of her memories of the battle of Kobanê, she entered the hearts of all her comrades. In any way, it left an unforgettable mark in our hearts and minds. In the YPG communication center, she represented the woman who leads the life, struggle and revolution with great humility. In her communication activities, she made the spirit of resistance of Kobanê, the heroism of her comrades and the truth of life of the freedom fighters, the truth of the revolution home in history. As the YPG communication center, if we have reached these days and are carrying out our work in every field in a comprehensive way, it is thanks to the work of comrade Amara and the work of dozens of YPG communication martyrs.
On this basis, we once again remember all the martyrs of free communication in the person of Comrade Amara Ronahi and renew our promise to follow the voice of truth. We will be the voice of freedom and truth with the pen and lens that we have taken away from them.”
