AACHEN – The long march that started six days ago in Essen, Germany under the motto “For the freedom of Rêber APOs, join the freedom fight” with internationalist and Kurdish youth ended today with a rally and a press release in Aachen.
The Long March, which passed the cities of Essen, Duisburg, Krefeld, Düsseldorf, Leverkusen and Cologne with high motivation and morale, arrived in Aachen today with the same determination as it began. This year’s march, which took place with the participation of internationalist youth, enriched with various activities and created a colorful and enthusiastic atmosphere.
But the fascist German police had again intervened arbitrarily in the youth march. Yesterday’s Leverkusen-Cologne march was targeted by the police. The fascist police, using the pretext of shouting the so-called forbidden slogans, imposed an identity check on the youths. The youths who did not accept this approach resisted the police until 3:00 am. During the resistance, they were arrested by the police and later released.
The police, who tried several times to criminalize the young activists with various interventions and provocations and thus wanted to hinder the influence of the Long March, met the resistance and the determined attitude of the internationalist and Kurdish youth, who continued their legitimate protest to the end.
At the rally at the Aachen train station, the young people who had traveled from different countries to stand up for physical freedom Rêber Apos made a statement in different languages at the end of the Long March.
In the statement, the young people pointed out that for them the physical freedom of Rêber APO was the red line of youth and that they continued to fight for Rêber APO at any cost, and they also condemned the attacks by the German police, who had a fascist mentality against the youngsters had acted.
Çekdar Serhat of the Long March Preparatory Committee stated:
“Our march began in Essen on September 11, with the youth organizing against all odds and fascist aspirations with the ideas and thoughts of Rêber APO, not bowing and resisting despite all interventions. Every state should know that young people can, if necessary, destroy the world when it comes to Rêber APO. Despite the attacks and arrests, the youth will continue their fight for Rêber APO. Because Rêber APO has been fighting for the Kurdish people and the oppressed peoples of the world for 50 years. The youth, nourished by the philosophy of Rêber APO, will follow his path to the end. We will definitely resist to meet the demands of the role and mission that Rêber APO has set for the youth. Let the enemies of the Kurdish people know”
The statement delivered by Çekdar Serhat was translated into Spanish, German and English. The young activists also declared that they will take part in the 30th Kurdish Culture Festival that will take place tomorrow in the Netherlands and called on youth and young women to do the same.
