ESSEN – The long march, which is traditionally led by Kurdish and internationalist youth every year, started today in Essen, Germany. The Long March to be held this year is held with the slogan “Ji Bo Azadiya Rêber APO, Werin Cenga Azadiyê (For Rêber APO’s freedom: Come to the Freedom Struggle!)”.
Kurdish and internationalist youth from many countries such as Germany, England, France, Switzerland, Colombia, Australia, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands started the march in front of the Kurdish Democratic Society Center in Essen.
The march started with a minute’s silence.
Afterwards, a speech was made on behalf of the organizing committee.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, Çektar Serhad stated the following;
“First of all, we commemorate all the martyrs of Kurdistan with respect. Today we will carry out this long march for Leader APO. There is no news from Önder APO for more than 18 months. Therefore, we, as Kurdish and internationalist youth, will be active until the physical freedom of Rêber APO is achieved. Today, we salute the guerrilla forces fighting against chemicals on the mountains of freedom. As Kurdish youth, we need to be a part of the war. We will continue this resistance with the spirit of July 14, the spirit of Beritans and Zilans.”
Speaking afterwards, Mordem Adar said:
“Our first Long Walk took 17 days from Hanua to Hanover. The basis of this march in 83 was the news of the pressure in the dungeons and the martyrdom of Mazlum Doğan. At that time, there was the oppression of September 82nd in the dungeons and the ongoing tortures in Kurdistan. Martyr Hozan Sefkan, Kasım Engin and Hozan Mizgin were among those who carried out that march. Martyr Kasım Engin said in that march that Turkish colonialism has now missed the train. The Long March, which was started that day, continues today together with the internationalist youth.
We dedicate this march to our comrades resisting in the Medya Defense Zones, “The freedom of our Leader is the freedom of our people,” he said, “Biji Serok APO!” He ended his speech with slogans.
After the speeches, the young people started to walk with great enthusiasm.
Today’s march will end in the city of Duisburg.
