MEXICO – On the occasion of eight years since the disappearance of the 43 normalista students from Ayotzinapa, the center of Mexico City is preparing for the march that took place this Monday, September 26, starting at 4:00 pm. The Government of Mexico City preventively fenced off some buildings in the Historic Center, such as the National Palace, where President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador lives.
It is expected that the mobilization will go from the Angel of Independence to the Zocalo of Mexico City, mainly along Paseo de la Reforma and Juarez Avenue. It will then enter Avenida 5 de Mayo to enter the Zócalo’s main square. After the roll call, the parents got ready to return to the contingent and continue the march along Paseo de la Reforma, to continue along Juarez Avenue, next to the central Alameda.
During the pause, they also protested for the more than 100 thousand missing persons in Mexico.

Around 20 civil organizations accompany the march of the parents of the 43 normalistas of Ayotzinapa. After crossing Juarez Avenue, the demonstrators are preparing their arrival at the Plaza de la Constitution. At the moment, there are reports of graffiti on urban real estate, although no violent acts have been reported.
However, a minority group of hooded people who are not with the organizers of the march, dressed in black, continue to paint and vandalize some properties on Juarez. The CDMX Police report a white balance.
In addition, the contingents behind the march caused damage to restaurant windows by throwing projectiles.
Confrontation between police and hooded protesters in 5 de Mayo
At approximately 18:20 hours, a confrontation is registered between the capital police and the hooded people, who still do not join the organizers of the march commemorating the eight years since the disappearance of the 43 normalistas from Ayotzinapa.
The CDMX police have retreated in streets of the Historic Center to prevent violent actions and robberies by a group of hooded people. On Juarez Avenue, it was captured the moment that an isolated group threw objects as projectiles to cause damage to businesses during the protest.
The Palace of Fine Arts was not closed, although there are still no reports of graffiti on the building. The parents and relatives of the 43 missing students from the Ayotzinapa rural school are already at the Zocalo.
Attack on military camp on the 24th of September
The demonstration of students from the Normal de Ayotzinapa at the facilities of Military Camp 1 ended in a zacapela. The students threw homemade bombs at the facilities of Military Camp 1 and knocked down several sections of the main gate’s fence, military elements used a tank and water to disperse them.
At least 39 uniformed personnel, including capital police, military and elements of the National Guard were injured after the protest for the 43 missing Ayotzinapa normalistas that took place this Friday morning at Military Camp 1-A, informed the Mexico City Government Secretariat.
