MARSEILLE – In Marseille, the Kurdish people and their friends took to the streets to protest against the violence against women practiced by the Iranian regime. The uprisings that have erupted in Rojhilat and Iran since the assassination of Kurdish woman Jîna Amini have left a lasting impression on European areas as well.
The revolutionary youth, TCŞ from Marseille, the CdK assembly in Marseille, left-wing parties and organizations, as well as internationalists also took part in the action, which was organized under the leadership of the Kurdish women’s council Arin Mirxan. On September 24th, hundreds of people gathered in Canebier, Marseille and demonstrated through the streets, shouting “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî”. “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” (Women, Life, Freedom) became the global rallying cry for women’s freedom against the destructive and brutal male ruler mentality with the women-led uprisings in Rojhilat and Iran. In memory of Jîna Amini, who fell victim to the Iranian regime’s misogynistic policies.
At Vieux-Port-Platz, the demonstration turned into a rally, at which well-known representatives of non-governmental organizations also gave speeches. Women’s Council co-speaker Arin Mirxan also gave a speech. Afterwards, hundreds of women symbolically burned headscarves while shouting “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” to support the resistant and courageous women in Rojhilat and Iran in their fight for their rights.
