HPG-BİM said in a written statement, “Apoist militants in the Cîlo region, our comrades Çekdar, Arjin and Avent fell martyrs in the attacks carried out by the invading Turkish army on June 29, 2022.”
The statement said, “These esteemed comrades inflicted heavy blows on the enemy with the struggle they waged in the Cîlo region, where they have been for a long time. We promise that we will avenge our comrades Çekdar, Arjin and Avent, who are the elite and young commanders of the Democratic Modernity Guerrilla, and crown their struggle with victory.”

“Our comrade Çekdar was born in Kocaeli as a member of a patriotic family originally from Cizîr. But after his family returned to Kurdistan, he grew up in Cizîr. The fact that he was born and raised in a family shaped by a patriotic region like Cizîr, and that his close relatives joined the guerrilla ranks, caused our comrade Çekdar to get to know our party, the PKK, closely. Hearing the epic story of Comrade Egîd – Mahsum Korkmaz, one of the leading commanders of the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, grew up listening to the epic story, and our comrade Çekdar had an admiration for the guerrilla. When he reached the age of youth, he fulfilled his duty of being a soldier of the freedom struggle of our people, which he saw as a natural responsibility, by being involved in youth work. During his youth work, his radical stance and organizational style both influenced his close friends and helped many young people with whom he came into contact with the freedom struggle of our people. Our comrade Çekdar, who is a youth leader with this characteristic, was greatly angered by the attack of ISIS gangs on our people in Rojava and the support of the Turkish state to these attacks. The Turkish state’s perpetration of massacres and the murder of a close friend of our comrade Çekdar, especially against our people, who were mobilized for Kobanê, caused him to engage in a more active struggle. Our comrade Çekdar joined the guerrilla ranks in Cudi in 2014 with 5 of his friends to avenge both our people and his murdered friend.

After joining the guerrilla, our comrade Çekdar, who received training for new fighters in the Garê area, later moved to the Cîlo area, where he would spend his entire guerrilla life. Our comrade Çekdar, who had some knowledge of guerrilla and mountain life before, experienced the indescribable joy of achieving his dreams when he entered the Apoist life. From the comradely relations built by the guerrilla with great effort and sacrifices to the communal life principles, he was completely attached to the guerrilla life and participated in an incalculable way. Comrade Çekdar has struggled to create the personality of Democratic Modernity, which is based on freedom and equality by creating significant changes in his personality with the training he received. In this respect, he became a militant who was taken as an example by all his comrades. He also gave great importance to developing himself in the military sense, has made an intense effort to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the freedom times we have passed through. He trained himself in the fields of military tactics and specialization within the framework of the restructuring of the guerrilla. Our comrade Çekdar, who has become a competent guerrilla with the education and experience he has received, moved to the Cîlo area, one of the harshest but most beautiful areas in the geography of Kurdistan, and continued his struggle here. He took part in many actions developed against the enemy in the Cîlo area, where he had been for about 7 years, and dealt heavy blows to the enemy. Again, he carried out many different works and fulfilled his responsibilities. Our comrade Çekdar has become one of the young and assertive commanders of the new era with the war and life experiences he gained in the field of Cîlo. Our comrade Çekdar, a young commander who followed the footsteps of Commander Egîd, whom he grew up listening to his heroic stories, instructed us, our comrades, to fight harder and ensure the freedom of our people with his martyrdom. We promise that we will increase our struggle until we fulfill this instruction of our esteemed commander.
Our comrade Arjin was born in a patriotic family connected to Kurdish traditions in the Cinar district of Amed. Because of her family’s commitment to social values, our comrade Arjin grew up adopting this social culture. The devotion to the land, language and culture, which is at the core of the Kurdish society, is embodied in the personality of our comrade Arjin. Therefore, it had a natural reflex against all the genocide and assimilation policies of the enemy and never adopted these policies. Comrade Arjin, who has had a silent reaction to the attacks of the Turkish state against our people since her childhood, was deeply affected by the fact that ISIS gangs attacked the Rojava Freedom Revolution and carried out a massacre against our people. In addition, the silent reaction of our comrade Arjin turned into action, as the Turkish state openly supported these gang attacks and our people in Bakure Kurdistan took a stand against these policies of the Turkish state. Our comrade Arjin, whose anger towards the enemy increased even more due to the massacres by the Turkish state against our people, who went to the invasion, turned her face to the mountains of Kurdistan and joined the guerrilla ranks to meet the guerrilla whom he admired in his childhood in order to avenge our people.

Although our comrade Arjin had difficulties in getting used to the mountain and guerrilla life at first after joining the guerrilla, she managed to overcome these difficulties thanks to the help of her comrades. Our comrade Arjin, who has established an unbreakable bond with the mountain thanks to his guerrilla life and comradeship relations, completely woven with spirituality, has done his best to be worthy of this spiritual life. The more she worked, the more she became integrated with the mountain and guerrilla life, and became a guerrilla respected and valued by her comrades. Establishing a more meaningful connection with nature as a woman, our comrade Arjin realized that she can make this life more meaningful with freedom. For this reason, she has constantly trained herself to adopt the principles of the women’s freedom line and make it an integral part of her life. He deepened himself ideologically to become a leading YJA Star guerrilla. After staying in Garê for a while, our comrade Arjin, who went to Cîlo and Zap, stayed on the hot war front and showed his anger towards the enemy by taking part in many actions developed against the enemy. Our comrade Arjin is even more sharpened against the enemy due to the martyrdom of her comrades during the war, and is aware that the way to be worthy of these comrades and to immortalize them is to take their revenge. She knew that for this he had to train himself more and specialize more in the war tactics of the new era. On this basis, she went to specialization trainings and successfully concluded these trainings. Our comrade Arjin, who went to Cîlo, where she fought back to back against the enemy with many of her comrades right after the training, spent every moment of her life on the basis of inflicting more blows on the enemy, taking the memories of his martyred comrades and the philosophy of Leader Apo as his guide. On this basis, he took part in the effective actions carried out in Cîlo and tried to fulfill the duty of freedom that history imposed on the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla. Our Comrade Arjin, who spends every moment of her life valuing the life of the PKK and her comrades, considers it among his top priorities to protect and further develop the life of the PKK, which was created by the labor of the martyrs. The Tori tribe, one of the deep-rooted and patriotic tribes of Kurdistan, embraced their language and culture, which they had preserved for centuries, with our party PKK, and fought against the enemy attacks to save our people from the grip of genocide. With the start of the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, hundreds of valiant children joined this struggle and once again claimed their patriotic duty. Our comrade Avent, who was born and raised in a family belonging to such a patriotic tribe, was brought up with this awareness. Due to the participation of his family in the freedom struggle, our party had the opportunity to get to know the PKK better and was affected by the meaningful life created by the PKK. Our comrade Avent with the power of joining the guerrilla ranks at a time when the war was intense, has trained herself in a short time and made herself a competent guerrilla. Our comrade Avent, who prepared herself for war by gaining years of experience in a short period of time, moved to this area to meet the ISIS attacks developed against our people in the Kirkuk area. As a militant of the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, who considers it his duty to respond to the attacks against our people in any area of Kurdistan, he fought an epic war against the gangs in the Kirkuk area and played an important role in the cleansing of Kirkuk from the gangs. After the Kirkuk area was cleared of gangs, our comrade Avent, who successfully completed her mission and returned to the mountains of Kurdistan, wanted to practice his military experience against the colonial Turkish invasion. For this reason, it passed to Zap, where the hot war with the Turkish invasion continued. With her successful practice in Zap, she took the task of team commander, which has an important mission in the new period guerrilla. In order to be able to fulfill this duty successfully, she made a great effort and participated in many actions developed against the occupation. She also made a great effort for the development of his comrades with whom he fought. Our comrade Avent, who instilled strength and morale in his comrades with his courage and composure in battle, duly fulfilled this duty as a leading YJA Star commander. Our comrade Avent, who constantly develops herself in the line of women’s freedom and creates important transformations in her personality every day, has made the women’s freedom measures created with the efforts of our Leader and thousands of martyrs the basic principles of her life. Comrade Avent, who is taken as an example by all his comrades with his endless belief and devotion to our Leadership, our martyrs and comradeship, has not only failed many enemy operations with his successful practice in Cîlo, but also succeeded in striking the enemy with the actions he pioneered.
We have had a reason to fight the martyrdom of our comrades Çekdar, Arjin and Avent, who broke the enemy’s hope of invasion and were a great source of morale for our people, with their struggle until the moment they reached martyrdom. On this basis, we offer our condolences to all patriotic people of Kurdistan, especially to the esteemed families of our heroic comrades.”
