“Botan region is geographically located in the middle line of Kurdistan and covers a large area extending from Bakurê Kurdistan to Rojava, Bashur and Rojhilat. Botan Mountains, also defined as the backbone of Kurdistan, have been the homeland of the Kurdish people for thousands of years. The Kurdish people socialized in the Botan mountains, formed their culture and tradition, lived freely in these mountains, and no one could take them under control. This reality has turned our people in the Botan region into brave, warrior and brave people who are very attached to their culture, protect their essence, never compromise their language and identity. The people of Botan recognized the Apoist movement in the person of our immortal legendary commander Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz), stood up with the first bullet of August 15, carried out the first serhildans and continued their patriotic march until today.
Our comrade Mordem was born in the ancient village of Navyana Şêxan, located on the slope of Mount Pîro in the Besta region of Botan. Located in the middle of the Besta region, the Navyana Shexa village has its back to the Garisa region. He faces the Çırav Mountains on his right, Kêla Memê and the Katos on his left, and faces Çelê Nimêja and Cûdî. Navyana Şêxan village is geographically located in the middle of Botan, as well as being a central place with its commitment to social values, its social essence and identity. They have survived by living strong moral and social values with devotion to religion, which is a way of living their ancient social identity. Although the institution of Şêx has been distorted and used against the society for different purposes throughout history by different sections and states, the Kurdish people have highly respected this office by considering their own religion on the basis of a more correct and strong life. Our comrade Mordem was born in a family that was also shex. His family, who is Şêx, tried to be loyal to moral, religious and social values and to represent them correctly. In this sense, he distinguished the right and the wrong among the people, tried to be the representative of the social conscience, and stood against the oppressor and oppression. When the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle under the leadership of the Apoists began, this precious family of ours also saw the pure and clean social essence in the Apoists, fell in love early on, and later turned into an unbreakable patriotic bond. The Kurdistan Freedom Movement’s respect for the sanctities of all religions and societies has gained the appreciation of all social segments as it struggles for the socialist practice of these sanctities in a free and democratic society.
The fact that our comrade Mordem comes from such a well-established, socially-connected and solid character family has had a great influence on the shaping of his personality. In the 90s, the colonialist genocidal Turkish state persecuted its villages and established a police station, and forced village guards to oppose the freedom struggle. However, the family of our friend Mordem took all the costs and showed a stance worthy of their social identity and patriotism and did not surrender. That’s why his family migrated to Sirnex and our comrade Mordem grew up here. He got to know himself and his identity early on, as he grew up in a city and environment where the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle was at its hottest. He studied in Turkish public schools for ten years, however, he dropped out of school when he saw that they had no other function than to impose genocide and assimilation on our people. Our comrade Mordem, who participated in the freedom struggle by carrying out various activities, first carried out activities in the Free Citizens’ Movement. With his energetic and enthusiastic personality, he later joined revolutionary youth work. He also carried out militia activities for the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla. Whatever he does, no matter how hard he works, he has always tried to do more for his people and country.
Noticing this effort and revolutionary stance of our comrade Mordem, the enemy arrested him in 2008 and put him in prison. Our comrade Mordem, who considered the dungeon as a great school of revolution, increased his knowledge, deepened his consciousness, deeply assimilated the Apoist paradigm and reshaped his personality on this basis. It has become like a walking library with its vast knowledge. Our comrade Mordem has not only been informed, but has consistently vitalized every knowledge he has acquired in his personality. He never made any concessions from his revolutionary stance in prison, always took a stand against the enemy, from hunger strikes to various actions, and was released after being in prison for five and a half years. Although he was given different tasks after he was released from the dungeon, he did not accept any of them and he yearned for years. He insisted on his decision to join the guerrilla ranks he had dreamed of. He practiced this decision and became a guerrilla in the field of Besta in 2014. With his strong Apoist consciousness, mature personality, mountain character and enthusiastic heart, he quickly adapted to guerrilla life. He quickly took charge and assumed responsibility. When the colonial genocidal Turkish state launched its reckless attacks against the Kurdish people within the framework of the Precipitation Plan, our people responded by declaring their own self-government. Comrade Mordem, who participated in the resistance process developed by Sirnex youth and people, acted with the mission of both his family identity and his revolutionary stance.
