The Liberal Personality
PREFACE
We are in a very warm phase of revolution and war. The moment in which we are preparing this booklet is the same period in which our comrades in Heftanin, and many other fronts are in an all-out war against the occupiers and fascism. Every day the most beautiful people in the world sacrifice their lives, against the massacre, for the defense of their people, their earth and for the defense of the values of humanity. This is the reality of apoistic sacrifice (Fedai), the truth of PKK. Those who hold up the socialist flag in the 21st century and do not allow it to fall even once.
In Imrali, Rêber Apo, in all four parts of Kurdistan, is the guerrilla and our patriotic society is in an unprecedented resistance against the attacks of the rulers. This fact is not discussed, but what is this that does not allow us to crown the revolution with victory, dissolve the occupiers and fascists and open the doors of Imrali?
If we are determined, if we have the goal to prove ourselves worthy of the work of Rêber APO and if we want to bring the fallen of freedom to life, if we really want to fulfill their dreams and visions and put them into practice, we should return to ourselves and build ourselves in this sense.
Is actually what prevents us from achieving the desired successes only the existence of the enemy, the strength of the enemy? No, it is not like that. If it were so, there would be no need to fight now: we cannot only because of its existence. But it is obvious and becomes obvious every day that we can.
Rêber APO, for one, has made this clear with his attitude in Imrali; Under the most difficult and violent conditions, without possibilities and means, he has made this conspiracy come to nothing, destroyed the concept of annihilation of PKK and genocide of Kurdish people and Kurdistan. Within a torture system that dissolves and disappears the human being, Rêber Apo has united his way with the truth of humanity and made himself the chairman of all the oppressed peoples.
The most important problem is the personality that the enemy has built in us.
If we now describe ourselves as soldiers of Rêber Apo, as militants and workers of the truth of the Chairman, as followers of the fallen, but if we look at the life of the Chairman, his manner, his pace, his expression, we see that there are great differences between us.
What is Apocitî? The implementation of Rêber Apos. But we should take a good look at this, with the chairman there is no defeat, everything is success. The chairman has united with the revolution until the end and lives in this sense. Where Rêber Apo is, is the place where Rêber Apo is implemented, here whatever will happen, shall happen there is success, there is victory. Why?
Rêber Apo says: “I did this myself, I built this myself.“ He says: “I make 40 revolutions a day with myself.“
This means that making revolution is mainly a theme of life, a theme of personality. What is making revolution? Solving the problem. The solution calls for struggle and war. Right, war and struggle should be success.
Let’s ask ourselves, how much our way is actually solution-oriented? Is the source of our personality related to solutions or to problems? From the smallest problems in daily events, to the big problems of society, humanity and the universe – radicality means solution-oriented.
We know that the ruling hegemonic system deepens or develops these problems in the name of the solution. The system itself has built itself through these contradictions, through the division of society and personalities, and keeps itself alive in this way. Every ruling system in history has shaped society in its own interest by way of ideology and with this shaping of society has shaped the personality.
Our personality is a product of hegemonic ideology, our lifestyle is shaped by it. The hegemonic ideology of this era is liberalism.
We should be clear about what kind of ideology liberalism is and how great its influence is. We must know how liberalism becomes the basis of the disease of society and humanity, how it shows itself in all colors depending on the space and time, and in this way captures all the values of people and puts them in the service of the exploitation and robbery of capitalism.
What has liberalism created for a personality and this personality has what consequences and what kind of life, that are today important topics of existence and not existence for every revolutionary to keep on his feet? Liberalism has shown in the history the power of dissolution, assimilation and the agreement of the way under which many revolutionaries and movements got sick like a disease and were destroyed in the end. We are a socialist movement, we claim freedom, equality and a life in dignity for our people and humanity, that is what we are fighting for.
The chairman says:
“Now on these days everybody sees better that a human being, a world without socialism is a world without hope, no solution is created for any problem.”
We who take our place in the struggle, did we really become socialist people? Have we really developed a socialist personality? In terms of what ideology do we live, think and act? What do we like, what do we find beautiful, what attracts our attention? It’s all related to ideology. How much are we selfish and think only of ourselves, how much are we communal and social? This is also related to our ideology of life. The ideology we live is liberalism or socialism? Problems in personality are serious problems today. The system of capitalist modernity has created a sick, divided and dead society that is heading towards its downfall. We can say that humanity is on the brink, when it will fall and perish is not clear.
A personality has been created that is full of problems, a personality that cannot fight, that has abandoned the revolution, that cannot defend itself.
Rêber APO has criticized exactly this, saying “Between me and them there is an open gap”. Why is the gap open? Rêber APO is radical, revolutionary and oriented towards freedom, he does not allow the smallest empty space, but our practice is far from it. Just the problems we experience among us, going off the path, leaving the line shows how much we live under the influence of liberalism. Where there is a socialist personality, an apoist personality, there is also solution, but where there is a liberal personality, there is confusion, problems and that goes to betrayal. Liberalism is slavery, brokenness and death, socialism is freedom, construction and life.
How do we fight against liberalism and how can we build a socialist personality? On this basis, we want to share our discussions, research and thoughts in this booklet. We hope that this work will be of help and broaden the thoughts, discussions and perspectives.
