NEWS CENTER – The comprehensive invasion war launched by the Turkish army against Medya Defense Zones on April 14, 2022 has entered its 5th month. The Turkish army, which could not advance against the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla and entered a dead end in a short time, again put into action its dirty war methods in this process. Footage shared by ANF news agency.
From the first day of the invasion attack, warplanes, attack helicopters, howitzers and mortars bombarded the war tunnels and positions in the Resistance Zones, which were defended by the guerrilla, intensely.
Benefiting from all technological means with the unlimited support of NATO and bombarding the Kurdistan region dozens of times every day, the Turkish state committed war crimes countless times and used tactical nuclear bombs and chemical weapons against the guerrilla.
A new one has been added to the war crimes committed by the Turkish state, which has been proven many times with images. Invading Turkish soldiers preparing to attack the Martyr Hêjar war tunnels in Girê Hakkarî Resistance Area with tactical nuclear bombs and chemical weapons were recorded with cameras. The images once again revealed the dirty war waged by the invaders.
The images show special bombs that the invading Turkish soldiers mounted with tape around the explosives, creating the effect of tactical nuclear bombs. Tactical nuclear bombs, all connected by cables, which five soldiers try to plant with great precision, are led towards the entrance of the tunnels. The fact that the invaders, who attach great importance and hope to such tactical nuclear bombs, take the bombs in their arms and take pictures, proves the information stated.
The invaders, who try to break the resistance of the guerrillas by making very violent explosions, are constantly trying to bombard the war tunnels whenever possible.
HPG Press Center stated on 17 August that the Turkish army committed war crimes and crimes against humanity by using banned tactical nuclear bombs and chemical weapons 1,532 times in the war tunnels and positions in the Resistance Zones during the last four months of war.
HPG reports ongoing chemical weapons attacks against guerrilla positions
The Media and Communication Centre of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) reported continued chemical weapons use by the Turkish army against guerrilla positions in the Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). According to a 24-hour report on the war in the region, the attacks using chemical weapons are combined with air strikes and artillery fire. The main targets of these military activities have been areas in the Zap and Metina regions.
Despite obvious war crimes by the Turkish NATO state, the guerrillas have again succeeded in gradually pushing back the occupying forces through effective resistance actions. In one such action in the Çemço area in Zap, a soldier was injured. A Turkish reconnaissance drone was shot down by guerrillas. In addition, the guerrillas were able to prevent the bombing of their defensive positions by effectively firing on an attack helicopter.
In Saca, an advance attempt by the Turkish occupiers was also thwarted. The unsuccessful assault targeted the Şehîd Aryen battle positions. According to HPG information, the action was carried out by mobile units with light weapons and hand grenades.
Actions in Metîna
In Metîna, the guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against invading forces in the surrounding area of the Girê Cûdî massif. It could not be determined for certain whether this resulted in deaths or injuries among the ranks of the Turkish military. In the Karker area, soldiers set fire to various plastic materials as well as car tires and conducted the toxic smoke into the underground tunnels.
Ongoing occupation attacks
Four chemical weapons attacks have been carried out by the Turkish army in southern Kurdistan in the past 24 hours. All attacks were directed against the Şikefta Birîndara resistance massif. In Çemço, Girê Amêdî and Girê Cûdî, the HPG recorded fifteen airstrikes by attack helicopters in the same period. The Şikefta Birîndara as well as the FM and Hekarî hills were bombed dozens of times with tanks and heavy weapons.
