BEHDINAN – People’s Defense Center (HSM) Headquarters Command made a written statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the August 15 Initiative. The Command said, “Happy the 38th anniversary of the Glorious 15 August Initiative, the National Resurrection Day of the Kurdish people, especially to Leader Apo, the architect and greatest veteran of our resurrection, our martyr families, all our people, friends of our people and all our comrades.”
The statement stated:
“The Glorious 15 August Leap For the people of Kurdistan is a brand new start, a milestone to reach an exalted future from an upside down history, to recreate its noble values, to start the struggle to regain its identity and freedom. Our people, who have deeply conscious of the historical meaning and importance of this blessed day, celebrate August 15 as the National Resurrection Day every year with great excitement and enthusiasm. Initiating our struggle for resurrection and liberation and creating the greatest values for our people has been thanks to the struggle of our martyrs who brought us to this day, at the expense of their sweat and lives. We commemorate all our martyrs with respect and gratitude in the person of our immortal great commander Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz), who is the architect, commander and symbol of our August 15 Initiative, and bows respectfully before their memories.
AUGUST 15 BRIDGE CREATED BELIEF IN FREEDOM
The environment in which the August 15 Initiative took place and its early days was pitch black for the people of Kurdistan, where their name was not mentioned, their identity was denied, all their values were exploited until the end, and Kurdistan was completely occupied. The historical emergence of Leader Apo to break the folded colonialism on the Kurdish people, the incarnation of the freedom march as the PKK, Comrade Mazlum Doğan lighting the fire of resistance with three matches, the intensification of this resistance in the person of the Four and the July 14 Insurgents. With the First Bullet, it was the turning point of our struggle for existence and freedom. To initiate such a heroic act and guerrilla struggle at a time when there are those who cannot even imagine firing a bullet at the fascist Turkish state and the junta of September 12, It has led to a resurrection and rise in every sense among the Kurdish people. In addition to its very successful and fruitful military character, the August 15 Initiative led to an ideological, national, social and cultural revival, and created belief and hope in freedom. The armed struggle carried out on the basis of this belief and hope has developed the social revolution, the free women’s revolution, the mentality revolution and the cultural revolution in Kurdistan.
The international hegemonic powers and the genocidal Turkish state, which do not cease to deny the Kurdish people and do not want to remove Kurdistan from the status of double colonialism, still insist on this. Although the Kurdish people, who have spent the last hundred years exposed to great denial, destruction and genocide, have suffered greatly and inflicted great costs, the colonialists want to make our people lose another century. For this purpose, the Turkish state, which has been given all kinds of brutal war techniques, banned chemical weapons and banned bombs, is being attacked on the Kurdish people. The colonialist genocidal Turkish state and the fascist AKP-MHP regime, which do not deem the Kurdish people worthy of a life other than slavery, are attacking our people and our movement, as if they were crazy in line with their aims, tries to get results in the policy of genocide at the expense of committing major crimes against humanity. Especially in the last four months, the comprehensive occupation operation that developed in the areas of Zap, Avaşîn and Metina is the peak of these attacks and the Turkish state has mobilized all its power.
The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla is displaying a historical resistance against all attacks with the inspiration and belief it received from Leader Apo’s historical Imrali Resistance. The guerrilla, which has fought with its chest as a shield against all the attacks that have developed in the last seven years and especially in the last four months, is conducting an epic resistance to disrupt the plans of the invaders and to prevent the genocide of our people. Implementing democratic modernity guerrillaism with creative tactics with the Apoist self-sacrificing spirit, successfully practicing the mobile team and position-tunnel warfare style has spoiled all the plans of the invaders. The level of guerrilla resistance, the supreme self-sacrifice, the will of steel and great faith have already ensured the victory of the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla. Rohat, Şevîn, Agir, Fedaî, Şaristan, Mizgîn, Viyan, Mîrza, Mahir, who are today’s Egîds by fighting in the line of Fedailik, In the person of Nalin, Siyabend, Binevş, Rustem, Bager, Avzem, Dîdar, Özgür, Zemani, Qehreman, Zerdeşt, Berfîn, Adil and Ahmed Rûbars, we respectfully commemorate all our martyrs who dealt the biggest blow to the Turkish state’s dreams of invasion and genocide. We salute our comrades who took part in the Bazên Zagrosê and Cenga Xabûrê Martyr War Maraş Revolutionary campaign and who fought everywhere in Bakure Kurdistan by showing the will of historical resistance.
KURDISTAN FREEDOM GUERILLA IS THE HOPE OF THE OPPRESSED RIGHTS
While we welcome our Resurrection Day and the 39th anniversary of the August 15 Initiative with great pride, we are marching to victory with greater faith based on the values and gains created by our 38-year armed legitimate war. All the attacks of the fascist Turkish state, which has sworn not to abandon any means, path and method of struggle to the Kurdish people, have been nullified only on the basis of an armed legitimate struggle. That is why the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla has become the hope of the Kurdish people and all oppressed peoples. The PKK’s exit that pierced the pitch dark and its half-century-long struggle; It has proven how essential it is for our people and all oppressed peoples to wage an armed struggle, fight for legitimate existence and freedom, and resist with guerrilla style. That’s why The Turkish state brutally attacks the guerrilla every day and does not refrain from using all kinds of terrifying tactical weapons, from nuclear bombs to chemical weapons. It can still occur today, just as there were those 40 years ago, speaking with the mouth of the enemy, who pumped disbelief into the guerrilla struggle and preached its futility. However, it is very well known that today our existence and values can be protected on the basis of the struggle for freedom and the guerrilla army created by tens of thousands of our martyrs at the expense of their sweat and blood. If the reality of the enemy and the fascist front that wants to bring us to our knees are on the verge of collapse today, it is undoubtedly because the Kurdistan Freedom Movement heroically resisted and fought selflessly. It can still occur today, just as there were those 40 years ago, speaking with the mouth of the enemy, who pumped disbelief into the guerrilla struggle and preached its futility. Today, the valiant bodyguards that the guerrilla waged for war and freedom in all parts of Kurdistan, especially in Zap, Avaşîn and Metina, are the embodiment of this truth. We, as Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas, welcome the 39th August 15th year with great hope, belief in victory and determination to fight. In the footsteps of our Great Commander, Comrade Egîd, we reiterate our promise to respond to the expectations of our Leader and our people by growing the belief in the victory guerrilla.
With this hope and belief, we once again celebrate the 15th of August Resurrection Day and wish success to all forces that resist and fight for freedom.
