ECUADOR – On July 26 in Cuellaje, and on the 27th of the same month in Cotacachi, Ecuador, meetings were held with representatives of the indigenous population, male and female farmers, within the framework of the cycle of conferences on Jineolojî, the paradigm that drives the women’s movement from Kurdistan.
The peasants of Cuellaje, who live from agriculture and the production of organic fertilizers, actively participated in the successive popular uprisings in the country to protect their lands.
Canadian and Chilean companies had begun to exploit and destroy the unique and fertile nature of the region, known as Intag, to extract mineral resources. The indigenous people who have lived in the area for centuries are resisting the destruction of their nature, which is their livelihood.
The women, who are also at the forefront of the emancipatory struggles in Ecuador, spoke out in favor of removing the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) from the lists of terrorist organizations drawn up by the United States and the European Union (EU). . In turn, they explained that the experiences of the women-led Kurdish liberation struggle were very important to them.
Zilan Diyar, from the Jineolojî Academy, stressed that all emancipatory struggles must take place under the leadership of women, otherwise the system will always find a way to reproduce and continue.
In Cotachachi, the members of the Jineolojî Academy met with the indigenous people and their cooperatives to hold a seminar. After a ritual in the Quechua language, they presented the concepts of Jineolojî and reported on the experiences of the Kurdish liberation movement.
