BEHDİNAN – PKK Executive Committee Member Murat Karayılan demanded that NATO stop supporting the Turkish state’s murderous-genocidal policy in the second part of his interview with ANF. Karayılan stated that instead of apologizing for what happened after the Palme murder, Sweden supported this anti-Kurdish policy, and drew attention to the fact that DAESH could not be ended unless Turkey was driven out of Syria.
Part II of the interview:
In today’s assessment, PKK Executive Committee Member Murat Karayılan also called on Kurdish youth to join the guerrilla in the northern provinces; He gave the following answers to our questions about the agreement reached at the NATO summit in Madrid, the Erdogan-Putin-Chief meeting, the killing of the ISIS gang leader in the region occupied by Turkey, the mobilization announced by the Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous Administration, and the concept put into effect after the 15 July coup attempt:
There has been a lot of discussion about Finland and Sweden’s membership to NATO in the past days. What can you say about NATO’s agreement with the Turkish state and the concept put in place against the Kurdish Freedom Movement?
True, there was a lot of controversy. I do not want to evaluate this subject in detail, but I can state the following. In fact, the Treaty of Lausanne was made under the leadership of the European powers. The Treaty of Lausanne is an agreement to deny the Kurdish people. 99 years have passed since the treaty. During this time, many massacres and great tragedies took place in Kurdistan. This agreement had a role in all of this. Because although the Kurdish people are the oldest and most historical people in the region, they were ignored and denied. This strengthened the hand of the colonial powers in terms of carrying out a policy of massacre and genocide in Kurdistan.
Now, both the NATO meeting in Madrid and the discussions on Sweden and Finland actually became the approval of the Lausanne Agreement. So it was like a second Lausanne. However, this is a great injustice to the Kurdish people. This is dishonesty. The Turkish state has been carrying out state terror and massacres in Kurdistan for nearly a century. Yet they confirmed. In other words, the Turkish state wanted to have its policy of genocide in Kurdistan approved. In this context, NATO and European states have a role in the crimes committed by the Turkish state in Kurdistan.
In any case, the Turkish state is constantly using NATO weapons against us. In this sense, they have support, this is a fact. Tactical nuclear weapons are being used against us in Kurdistan today. Turkey has no tactical nuclear weapons; NATO supplies these weapons. We really want to understand now; Does the NATO Secretary General know about this or not? Has he approved or not approved the use of these weapons by the Turkish state against the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla? This needs to be revealed. If he sees himself as responsible, he should reveal the truth about it. The Turkish state leans on NATO and commits crimes against the Kurdish people. He’s making massacres. He uses prohibited weapons. I already said it once before this agreement, but the press did not pay much attention to it, it was not on the agenda; The Turkish state mainly aimed at two points in the issue of using its veto right. First; He wanted to use banned chemical weapons against us, he wanted to silence everyone by getting their approval. Because the most vocal ones on this issue were Scandinavian countries. In other words, he wanted to silence them and get NATO to approve this situation. Latter; There were some embargoes against the Turkish state. These embargoes had to be lifted, especially in order to obtain sensitive technological products related to reconnaissance aircraft. This was the second main aim of the AKP-MHP regime. Now the signing of that agreement, etc. he could not achieve much in the framework, but this has received approval on the issues I have mentioned. This is a fact. He wished to silence everyone by getting their approval on this matter. Sweden endorses genocide policy instead of apologizing
It should also be mentioned here; There is a concept called ‘Scandinavian democracy’. This indicates that there is such a culture there. The main states that led this were Sweden and Finland. However, these countries did not protect the principles of democracy, but rather their own interests. However, Sweden is indebted to the Kurdish people. For 30 years, he accused all Kurds under the allegations that “the PKK killed Olof Palme” and left them in a difficult situation. Despite doing all this, instead of apologizing, they remained silent and approved of the Turkish state’s policy of genocide. This is a shame for them. There really was no good position. This showed that they were not that determined and insistent on the principles of democracy. This stance in the face of Olof Palme’s combative reality remained at a very low level.
Basically, there is no question that the Kurdish people, the Kurdish existence, and the Kurdistan freedom institutions pose any danger to the Turkish state. In other words, the Turkish state states that it has suspicions that there are dangers to it, but mentions the Kurdish presence as a threat. NATO “we are not just a military institution; we also defend democratic values”. If so, then he told the Turkish state, “What you are trying to portray as terrorists is the Kurdish people, and the Kurdish people are a fact; give their rights; provide a political solution”, but he did not. Why? Because it is against their interests; have accounts. However, the Kurdish people play an important role in the fight against ISIS and in representing the flag of democracy in the Middle East in general. But their approach towards the Kurdish people, It is disrespectful and denial. So they’re ungrateful.
The Red Cross sent tents in the Dersim massacre.
Again, they constantly say “We understand Turkey’s concerns”. What is Turkey’s concern? There is no such thing. They want to kill the Kurds, they want to carry out a policy of terror against the Kurds. For example, Rojava Kurdistan does not pose any danger to the Turkish state. On the contrary, Turkey itself is a danger to them. Again, as the general Kurdish people, we are not a danger to Turkey. On the contrary, Turkey is a danger to us. But the Turkish state is using its NATO membership and trying to make the right wrong. These NATO countries also support this. Just as after the massacre in Dersim and the martyrdom of around 70,000 people, which is now accepted by all segments, international institutions such as the Red Cross send tents and different aids to Turkey; “The Turks are civilizing the wild people on the mountain; If they say, “Let’s support Turkey too”, the developments experienced today express the same situation. Now it’s attacking civilians, killing them; they are still doing this with those SİHAs today.
For example, there are daily bombardments against Rojava and North East Syria. They attack Bashur every day. However, no one asks him why he carried out this violence; “The Kurdish issue is a social problem and needs to be resolved politically. Why do you want death and not a political solution?” he doesn’t say. We are not the ones who want to solve the Kurdish issue with death, it is the Turkish state. The Turkish state wants to eliminate the Kurds with violence and death and to solve the problem in this way. NATO has endorsed this dangerous bloodsucking policy. This is an embarrassment for NATO. Unscrupulousness is ruthlessness. It is an injustice against the Kurdish people, this is important.
NATO should no longer be a partner in this genocidal policy
Our call is this: Enough is enough! These NATO countries, Europe and America should no longer support or be partners in this murderous-genocidal policy of the Turkish state. With what right do you support the Turkish state? You spend a lot of money for your dirty interests. Do not do this. We do not expect anything from you; we just state that as an ancient people of this land, we have the right to live freely like all other peoples. We do not want anything from anyone else. Then you should not support the persecution of our people. It is our hope and expectation that all NATO forces will abandon this policy, which has no humanitarian, legal or moral side, and is based on interest.
On the 19th of this month, a meeting will be held in Tehran with the participation of Putin, Erdogan and the Iranian President’s Chief. What do you think is the main goal of this meeting and what will the Turkish state demand?
It is clear what the Turkish state wants. Because the AKP-MHP, the existence of their regime; He sees the end of the Kurdish Freedom Struggle with the Kurdish people. Undoubtedly, at this meeting, Tayyip Erdoğan will ask both to clear the way for the attack they want to make against Rojava and to support the attacks against Bashur and other places. It is obvious that this will happen, because this state is thinking about it day and night. He even considers and thinks a primary school he will open for children on this basis. Whatever work he carries out, whether it is military, political or diplomatic, the Kurds are at the heart of all his work. Everyone needs to know this. This is no ordinary enemy. For this reason, the basis of all diplomatic work is anti-Kurdish hatred. Another point is this; Since the Ottoman Empire, even 180 years; Mir Mihemed Rewanduzî and Mir Bedirxan have been defeating the Kurdish cause since Begê Botanî. Continuous western and eastern powers; Playing between Russia and Europe, they suppressed the Kurdish cause with their support. This was also the case in the establishment of the Republic, with the support of both the Soviets and the western powers, this was the case during the Ottoman period, and it is so now. This policy has a historical background. Using its geopolitical position, Turkey seeks support and opportunities from both sides, and in this way it strongly wants to take its guard against the Kurds. This was the case at the time of the Ottomans, and it is so now. This policy has a historical background. Using its geopolitical position, Turkey seeks support and opportunities from both sides, and in this way it strongly wants to take its guard against the Kurds. This was the case at the time of the Ottomans, and it is so now. This policy has a historical background. Using its geopolitical position, Turkey seeks support and opportunities from both sides, and in this way it strongly wants to take its guard against the Kurds.
Although in our opinion, all the support they receive will not work out as they wish, but they received a certain level of support from NATO, and now they want to get support from Iran and Russia as well. I don’t think they will get the same support from here. Why? Because the Turkish state has its own plans and plans on Syria. It also wants to invade Syria and Iraq. If he invades a little more, he will take these places under his protection as the National Pact. The rivalry between Turkey and Iran has a 600-year history. Iran will not easily approve this plan, because this rivalry still continues. Because Iran wants to be a strong state in the region, Turkey wants the same thing. Therefore, Iran will not approve the invasion of Rojava or the National Pact. They want to take places like Til Rifet and Manbij, If they occupy these places, Aleppo will be under siege, and Russia will not want this. Because this will be unfair to Syria as well. Even though NATO member Turkey knows who it serves, maybe Russia can negotiate with Turkey, we think this way, because it needs Turkey as well. Russia has other problems as well, because of all this, it can negotiate with them. But I think there’s a slim chance that they won’t get what they want there. We, the Kurdish people, should not rely on anything but our own strength and should be ready for any kind of development. So they will talk about them there. In short, Turkey will not be able to achieve the desired results there, they may achieve some results, but it will not be as they wish. Because this will be unfair to Syria as well. ISIS will not end unless Turkey is driven out of Syria
In the meantime, once again, a leader of the ISIS gangs was killed in the area under the control of the Turkish state. What can you say about this?
This is an important issue in itself. We say that the Turkish state supports ISIS. In particular, Erdogan and Turkish intelligence are in contact with MIT ISIS, they were in contact in the past, and this relationship continues now. There is a secret and deep relationship between the two. As far as I heard, when Girê Spi and Raqqa were in the hands of ISIS, American officials also determined this situation. Because they also say in some discussions, “If we do not cut the connection between Girê Sipî and Raqqa, that is, the connection between the Turkish state and ISIS, ISIS will not weaken.” Already at that time, the YPG – its name was YPG at that time – liberated Til Ebyad (Girê Spî) and reached Kobanê and united the Cizre region. If you remember, they reacted a lot to this. After this step, Turkey became hostile to Rojava and the Kurds in general. At that time, the Americans made this determination, Now I think everyone sees this truth. All intelligence, coalition forces, everyone knows this fact, but they do not speak up. AKP, Turkish MIT have cooperation and relationship with DAESH. Is it a coincidence that the three leaders who have been killed so far have established houses and lived in the region under the control of the Turkish state and MIT? It is not possible for anyone to live there even for a day, let alone a home. We know that everything there is under the control of MIT. All in and out! But they go and buy a house there, get a job and set up headquarters. Even this situation is proof of how Turkey and ISIS are intertwined. But they go and buy a house there, get a job and set up headquarters. Even this situation is proof of how Turkey and ISIS are intertwined.
On the other hand, many captured persons admitted that their headquarters were in the Turkish-occupied territory. Even this fact clearly shows that ISIS will not weaken unless Turkey is driven out of Afrin and other occupied areas in Syria. This is certainly so, indisputable. So the coalition forces do not see this? I think they do. This is what raises suspicion. Do these forces really want ISIS to end? If they want to, they should head to Turkey first. For example, why did the US allow Turkey to come and take Serêkaniyê and Til Ebyad (Girê Spî)? These places have become the bases of ISIS, they have become places for ISIS to regroup itself. There are contradictions here, and one falls into doubt. What is clear to us is that they are related to each other,
Those who finished ISIS are martyred one by one
Excuse me; Turkey went after them to kill all the commanders who had fought against ISIS before. With this, he wants to avenge ISIS. For example, Mam Zeki, Seyit Hesen, Commander Zerdeşt, Commander Dijwar Feqîr; All these names were the pioneers of our Yazidi people, they and their families faced the massacres of ISIS and they fought against ISIS. Now Turkey has pursued them, martyred them and wants to turn to others, the same is true for Rojava and us. Who played a decisive role in ending ISIS? Did Rêber Apo’s ideas not play a role? Wasn’t it Rêber Apo who declared mobilization? Didn’t young people from Rojava and Bakur (Northern Kurdistan) join the war against ISIS and become martyrs? On this basis, Shengal Didn’t we intervene in Maxmur and Kirkuk? Didn’t we support Kobanê with the call of Rêber Apo? Now Rêber Apo is under the torture system. So, is this system far from the USA and European states? No. We know that they are also connected to it. Is the Imrali dungeon only the Turkish state? No, this dungeon also has an international dimension. Weren’t these the ones who gave Serok Apo to Turkey? Everything that happens there (Imrali) takes place within their knowledge. All the names that prevent ISIS from establishing an empire are at Turkey’s target, isn’t this a great injustice now? No one, including NATO, the Coalition Against ISIS, and others, is silent, even paving the way for Turkey. These are contradictory issues. But these two powers; It is obvious that Turkey and ISIS are in cooperation. Under the control of Turkey, ISIS is recovering, resting and reorganizing itself, and the two forces are waging war together against the peoples. No one can hide this fact anymore.
Northern and Eastern Syria must wage a Revolutionary People’s War
The Rojava Revolution has entered its 10th year, but Turkey’s threats on Rojava continue this year as well. The Democratic Autonomous Administration also declared a state of emergency against threats of attack. What are your views on these issues?
First of all, I congratulate the Rojava Revolution and the emergence of such a revolution to the Kurdish people, the Arab people, the Assyrian-Syriac people, the Armenian people and all other communities. Although the Rojava Revolution was bloodless at first, it was heavily attacked later on. The attacks of the enemy developed and a great resistance and war broke out against it, great courage was displayed and more than 11 thousand martyrs were given. I commemorate all the martyrs of the Rojava Revolution and the Northern and Eastern Syria Administration in the person of comrades Şîlan Kobanê, Xebat Dêrik, Gelhat Gabar, Arîn Mîrkan and Ferhad Şibli. Their memories live on in the person of the Rojava Revolution. Although currently under threat of attack, the Rojava Revolution will be permanent and will live on forever. Because the Rojava Revolution has gone through many stages in the past 10 years. faced many attacks, but also made very important developments. He achieved remarkable success in the political, military and social fields. First of all, they dealt the first blow; He hit ISIS, who wanted to build an empire, on his state. ISIS was a great danger not only to humanity but also to the region. But the SDF and the Rojava Revolution came face to face with this danger and defeated ISIS, liberated the capital of ISIS and freed the Arab people from their captivity.
It is also a source of pride that he established his own system in the middle of the war. Many remarkable features of the system established in Rojava; There are aspects that can set an example for the region and even the world. First; democratic nation system. In other words, the democratic nation was developed as an alternative to the nation-state. As you can see, until now, Kurds, Arabs, Circassians, Assyrian-Assyrians, Turkmens and Armenians are forming a nation, a democratic nation. Many people were saying, “If Turkey comes and takes Serêkaniyê, maybe this alliance will break up”, but on the contrary, this alliance has become stronger and stronger. It seems that they will hold each other stronger. This is a new nation and indeed an example to the whole world. Narrow nationalism exposes murder, bloodshed, racism and oppression. This is not the right way, it is evil. The democratic nation, on the other hand, represents the fraternity of the peoples, the peace between the peoples, the beauty, the acceptance of each other, diversity, wealth and democracy. Therefore, it is a very important interesting example for everyone. Another aspect is that the Northern and Eastern Syrian Revolution developed as a women’s revolution. The women’s system and the co-presidential system developed. This is a new system that can set an example for the whole world. Democracy can only be built on the basis of equality of men and women, on the basis of women’s freedom. Its development builds a democratic society along with it, and the democratic nation is thus completed. The leadership of women plays an important role in this sense. We can list many other aspects of the Rojava Revolution, but these aspects are important developments along with military successes. Therefore, neighboring states especially the Turkish state harbors hostility towards him. Because he sees his structure and democracy as a danger to himself. It also includes the acceptance of Kurdish identity, because in a democratic nation all identities are free. This situation made him a target of the Turkish state.
They achieved all these developments not under ordinary conditions, but in a war environment. On the one hand, they fought, on the other hand, they built themselves, the relationship between peoples was corrected, a system emerged. This is an important and historical event. It has a strong foundation that we think can stand up to any kind of attack. The Turkish state is threatening this revolution and will bring it up again at the meeting in Tehran. But I can say that, as far as I heard, the Autonomous Administration declared mobilization, this is important. This decision shows that they are preparing themselves for the revolutionary people’s war, and I think they will definitely succeed if they take this framework as a basis. In other words, the people and the fighters, all communities in Northern and Eastern Syria must hold each other, and no power can defeat them if this is the case.
(Laughing) On the other hand, don’t worry; The Turkish state spent its most elite forces and energies in the Medya Defense Zones, they were rendered debilitated here, so I don’t believe they can fight that much there. We believe that if they can trust themselves, trust each other, elaborate on the details of the revolutionary people’s war method and fight with faith and will, they will give the necessary answer to the Turkish state, and that the peoples will give the necessary answer to the Turkish state’s extension and be successful. Our people there will definitely achieve victory with this strong union. On this basis, I wish success to all peoples in Northern and Eastern Syria.
HDP scares them as it becomes a power
Recently, Süleyman Soylu spoke about HDP on a Turkish channel. He claimed that you sent instructions on tape to HDP Co-chair Pervin Buldan. What would you like to tell about this topic?
Now the Turkish state, especially the AKP-MHP government, wants to dominate the genocide policy in Kurdistan. For this reason, the fascist regime presents everyone who carries out the identity struggle of the peoples in Turkey and Kurdistan, especially the identity struggle of the Kurdish people, as terrorists and members of the organization. In fact, it targets not only the Kurds, but also the left, socialist, pro-democracy groups from Turkey who want freedom for the Kurdish people, and aims to eliminate them as well. Why? Because he sees them as obstacles in front of him. Before, for example, in the 90s and even after the 90s, they used to say, “Let them lay down their arms, go down to the plains and carry on the Kurdish identity struggle through political means”. Now, especially during the AKP-MHP period, they are targeting both the mountain, that is, the guerrilla forces, and they are targeting the field of politics. Because they are based on the policy of genocide in Kurdistan and they do not want to leave anything. They also target the Turkish left and socialist movements that defend the Kurdish cause of freedom. Fascism now wants to perpetuate itself in this form. In other words, it will perpetuate its regime on the basis of the Kurdistan freedom struggle and the elimination of democratic-socialist circles from Turkey. All his efforts are based on this and he is waging a special war accordingly.
In this context, they are also afraid of the HDP. Why? For the first time, the HDP united the freedom struggle of the people of Kurdistan with an important part of the Turkish socialist movement. The Turkish state was very afraid of this for a long time. Now this has been combined in HDP and has become a force. It has had a growth for it. That’s why they want to shrink and marginalize HDP, maybe they can’t eliminate it completely, but they wanted to reduce it below 10 percent. However, they couldn’t do that either. For this, their attacks against HDP intensified.
HDP should see itself as a candidate for the administration
As it can be seen, HDP, as a legal democracy movement, also has a certain level of resistance. He defended himself against oppression and attacks; kept his principles. It is also seen that there is a certain recovery; The last congress showed this. But I think the HDP should, first of all, lift the thresholds in front of itself. So, first of all, they put a dam in front of themselves. For example, they say, “According to the polls, we get 12-15 percent of the votes”. They should not put such dams in front of them. Their real potential is much greater. There are 20, 25, or even more. In my opinion, they should consider themselves candidates for the administration. They should act in such a much stronger and more faithful way.
Their work is evident; they carry out legal-democratic-political work. The Turkish state is constantly saying that they are one with the PKK, etc. They claim things. There is no such thing; these are all lies. You are looking; becomes a deputy who makes a bold debut; they immediately call him ‘member of the organization’. For example, the women’s movement is fighting fearlessly; the same way they go. In other words, the Turkish state is always carrying out a political genocide on this basis and is constantly developing a special war against the HDP.
If there is, Soylu should release that tape.
The words you mentioned in your question are the words spoken on the same basis. Süleyman Soylu is lying. I want to say the following about this; If Süleyman Soylu is not a lying charlatan and slanderer, let him publish the tape that he claimed to have sent to Pervin Buldan in his speech. Ms. Pervin Buldan is HDP’s co-chairman; It has a role and mission. He is a person who has a place in the legal democratic freedom struggle of the Kurdish people. With such claims, they slander him to pressure him and wage a private war. If not, have him present the tape.
It should also be noted that this is not the only lie; Everything they say in this context is false. They want to narrow down and even close HDP through lies and deception. Here is the Kobanê case, etc. They run all of these under the name of things. With all these lies, they want to defeat the struggle for democracy and socialism in Turkey. That’s their goal. That’s why I say it clearly once again; there is no such thing; if not, he is a minister who speaks openly in front of the cameras; Let him show the tape he said in front of the cameras again. If he does not do this, he is a charlatan, a liar, a slanderer.
There was a coup attempt in Turkey on July 15, 2016, after which the AKP-MHP developed a concept of genocide. How do you handle this coup attempt and this six-year process?
Yes, there was a coup in Turkey, but which coup? In essence, the Turkish state decided to develop massacres against Kurds by rejecting the Dolmabahçe Agreement at the hands of Erdoğan. At that time, right, left, nationalist, Turkish-Islamic, all wings in the state came together within the framework of the Union and Progress. Fethullahists were excluded from this, they saw this and tried to do something, but they also realized this and wanted to set a trap. When the Fethullahists took action, they turned and liquidated them. In fact, they carried out a coup against the coup. Wasn’t it Tayyip Erdogan who said, “This is a gift from God”? They already wanted to stage a coup and this was an occasion for them. On July 20, they completed this process, built their system on the genocide and took action with a new concept. If you notice, after a month, They started this concept on August 26, 2016. First they attacked Jarablus, 5 days later Etrus; Attacks on Southern Kurdistan began.
As an attempt of the new concept, they attacked the Fethullahists and crushed them, lynching them all. In fact, they were partners for a while, and when they saw that the Fethullahists were taking action within the framework of a plan, they trapped them and turned towards them. They were also in a brutal orientation towards them. But in essence they developed this concept to wage a war against the Kurdish people and the Kurdistan Freedom Movement.
Youth can reach guerrilla in northern states
Finally, I want to say: Now we have been resisting this concept of genocide for 6 years, Rêber Apo has been resisting in Imrali for 6 years. There is a cruelty on our friends who are in the dungeon, they turn to all friends. They don’t even release the friends whose sentences are over, why did this situation arise, why are they doing this? Why do they do this now, when there was no such thing even in the 90s? Because now a new policy; There is the concept of genocide of the Kurdish people and liquidation of the Turkish revolutionary movement once again. For this reason, they carry out such cruelty in all dungeons and such a deep system in Imrali. Likewise, they have been in an orientation for 6 years within the framework of this concept for us. Before that, a war has been waged since 2015, but since 2016 there has been a war within the framework of this concept.
They aimed to liquidate us quickly in this war. Wasn’t it Süleyman Soylu who said, “There will be no PKK left until April 2017, no one will be able to talk about the PKK”? He said this back in 2016 and gave the next April as the date. They still follow the same concept and utter the same words. However, they did not succeed, our people and our movement were successful, Rêber Apo’s line was successful once again. On the other hand, we should not deceive ourselves, this process is still going on. Currently, the Erdogan-Ergenekon regime is facing collapse. As a last chance, with all the possibilities of the state; They want to deal a blow to our movement with all the weapons in their hands, with all the banned weapons, with the support of the collaborating Kurds and global powers. But now it’s too late. Zap, The resistance that emerged in Metina and Avaşîn actually gave them the necessary answer and showed that they could never be successful. Undoubtedly, we have some shortcomings here as well, we have shortcomings in terms of people, other states should be stronger and more lush, there are shortcomings here. Especially the Kurdish youth struggle, the women’s struggle and the social struggle in general need to get stronger and grow. Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn are also a call for everyone, for example, a call to the youth. Young people need to handle this call correctly and participate. Not every Kurdish youth can go abroad in Northern Kurdistan today, but he can reach the guerrillas in the provinces. Where it is, it can carry out the struggle for freedom and democracy according to today’s possibilities and can further enlarge the struggle. Today more than ever, we must organize ourselves and unite around the line of Rêber Apo. Everyone must take up their responsibilities to ensure the victory of freedom and democracy in this historical period. If such an approach takes place, the victory will definitely belong to us, the people of Kurdistan, the peoples.
