GERMANY – In July, a Jineolojî camp for young women was held in honor of Şehid Zenda Ekin. Young women from all over Europe came together to learn and understand about women’s studies, the history of the women’s movement of Kurdistan, the special war and the meaning of Welatparezî (patriotism) and Hevaltî (friendship).
In addition to a wide variety of leisure activities, there was a varied program to get to know each other better and to get to know yourself better. The educational program itself was just as varied and included seminars and lectures as well as film contributions.
Many discussions arose in education about how the system exploits and oppresses women. The young women found answers in the self-sacrificing resistance and struggle of the women’s movement in Kurdistan and realized that the women in the movement can only achieve this because they know their identity and love their people and their country.
During the camp, the young women addressed their word to all young women in the world:
“We must do everything to protect Kurdistan by following the example of the Şehid Zenda Ekin and stepping up their struggle. Young women need to find their courage and stand up against patriarchy and capitalism. We need to educate ourselves, organize ourselves, and understand the faith of the many young women who sacrificed themselves for us.”
The young women went on to explain: “It is the duty of every young woman to continue her education. The creation of a free and democratic society depends on the love and will of the people.”
