NEWS CENTER – We continue our series on the 10th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution, which celebrates its anniversary on July 19, 2022. Necah Gulo, from Gulo’s patriotic family, who has been involved in the process of freedom since the beginning of the revolution, talks about his experiences in the beginning, in the first steps. Her experiences with Rêber Apo and her experiences at the beginning of the Kurdish community in Rojava, which was reborn as the sun of freedom.
“My name is Necah Gilo, I am from the city of Qamishlo, and I am a member of the Martyrs’ Family Organization. When the Rojava revolution started, there was no preparation for it. When a young man named Muhammad Bueziz set himself on fire in Tunisia, his incident may not have been political, but a revolution was started, and their revolution continued until it reached Syria.
We are educated with Leader Apo’s thoughts and philosophy, we struggle with Leader Apo’s thoughts and philosophy. In 1997, when I went to the President’s office, we showed our love and connection to the President without seeing him. 28 Kurdish uprisings took place, one of them was unsuccessful. Leader Apo led the 29th revolution of Kurdistan and it will succeed under his leadership. Enemies existed, our culture and morals were all lost and destroyed. But when Leader Apo came, these losses were returned to us again. Leader Apo also showed us that everyone should take their place in this revolution, no matter who they are, they are responsible for this revolution. Leader Apo gave hope and a new life to the Kurdish people. The Turkish state said for the Kurds, “We have killed them and we have cemented the rest of them”, but Leader Apo revived that spirit and gave them a new life.
Leader Apo first empowered women and stated that women can take up arms and fight for their rights. Just as there is no society without women, there is no revolution without women’s struggle. What’s more, Leader Apo teaches people how to believe in themselves and how to be a strong-willed person. Today, if we can protect our rights and protect our country, it is thanks to Leader Apo’s ideas and philosophy. When everyone found their place in the Rojava revolution, it was thanks to Leader Apo’s hard work and struggle for years. Leader Apo explained to everyone that this country will not be saved only by the struggle of the Kurdish people, everyone who lives in this country will fight for the liberation of this country, it will be saved through unity. We also won the war against ISIS with this strength and faith. From every nation living in Rojava Kurdistan, they took their place in the revolution in Rojava and resisted until martyrdom. Women from other nations say how can we not recognize Leader Apo until now, they say he came specially from us. Even today, we see the struggle of Arab women, as they have lived with Leader Apo for years. That’s why today Arab women are taking their place in every field, political, social, military and they are fighting against the occupation.
We said for our country, we will never accept whoever comes to our land and invades our country. When ISIS attacked us, we acted with this belief, because ISIS was not just an individual or a small group. ISIS was an organization specially prepared by the Turkish state. In particular, their goal with this organization was to force and kill the Kurds from our country. But we defended our country with our girls and boys and we will continue to defend it.
After our war against ISIS, we captured many cities, places and areas and rebuilt them. On the other hand, the Turkish state attacked the mountains of Kurdistan so that we should give up our case. Even in the mountains of Kurdistan today, we see that the Turkish state has failed and will not succeed.
Today, Kurdish women have become an example of the Middle East and the whole world. They were an example of their struggle and resistance. Like Beritan, he threw himself in the mountains to protect his weapons and honor. Like Arin Mirkan, she also shot herself in the face of the enemy. In short, Kurdish women have been very heroic. In history in general, no one burned himself for scientists and philosophers, but for Leader Apo people put their bodies on fire. Because the truth is that what Leader Apo has done, no one in history has ever done it, nor will they do it. Today, Leader Apo is in prison for protecting human values and socialization. We will raise our struggle and resistance against this policy of the enemy. We will stand until the destruction of Erdokhan, the liberation of Leader Apo and the liberation of this country.”
