BERLIN – Yesterday in Berlin, young women commemorated the fallen commander and pioneer of Kurdish freedom-loving women Zilan by holding a banner reading “Women fight, women live together, on the path of Heval Zilan” and a picture of the fallen freedom fighter die as a symbol of women’s freedom was hung up and the day of their Fedai campaign celebrated with fireworks.
The young women explained their action:
“As Kurdish young women living in Europe, we must follow Heval Zilan’s line of action in the face of the conspiracy against the entire Kurdish people, especially against Rêber APO. Heval Zilan carried out their action in response to the 1996 conspiracy against Rêber APO. This has gone down in history as an act of existence, as an act of will. As a fighter who only joined for a year, her action showed how young people, especially young women, should be organized. Because of this, even the enemy trembled before this enormous will.
