NEWS CENTER – The nature of Kurdistan is being plundered by the invading Turkish state. The Turkish state, which has been bombarding the mountains of Kurdistan for years, is also cutting down trees in the areas it occupied. Especially in Bakur, hundreds of tons of trees are cut down by the hands of gang leader Şehmus Babat. Within the framework of the occupation policy, in Cudi, Zap, Avaşin and Metina regions, where military attacks are intense, trees carried out under the leadership of village guards and state forces are cut and burned. In addition, new roads are being built in cooperation with the KDP for the construction of police stations.

For about 2 years, trees have been cut down in Cudi and Besta without interruption. Both materially and spiritually, the nature of Kurdistan is greatly damaged. Gangs are assigned to cut down trees. The gangs brought from the towns of Sêgirkê and Hilalê work for 150-200 TL per day in the Qilaban, Besta and Tîkerayê regions. The village guards Mahmut Babat, Kazım Babat and Süleyman Babat, who were awarded the contract to cut the trees in Besta, are also putting pressure on the villagers to participate in the nature massacre.

It is said that 300 tons of wood is cut daily in the Tîkera region and these are transported to an area near the town of Sêgirkê by tractors. The cut trees are then sold by Mahmut Babat, Kazım Babat and Süleyman Babat. With the help of the guards, besides the Besta, Cudi and Gabar regions, Gire Sor, Xêrga Girê Guzgê, Tenura, Gire Gêsin, Çalpîjîna, Baskê Qulinga, Mergumar, Kaniya Mîr, Bîratetum, Bîrapêşû, Cinîwer, Berûra, Rîyasor, Benûnî, Thousands of trees are cut down in Girê Sîvê, Pişta Reşa, Çemê Mezin and Kurta Xanî villages. The cut trees are collected in Rîsor and Naviyanê villages, and then they are sent to different cities by trucks and lorries.

TREES ARE CUTTED BY DILÊR FERZENDE ZÊBARI’S HAND

The same nature massacre in Bakur is being carried out in Başur in cooperation with the KDP. According to Rojnews, while trees are being cut down by the KDP in the Berwari region; The Turkish state started to build a military base near the village of Hiror. It was stated that trees were cut in front of the border guard units belonging to the KDP for the road to the military base in the region. In the news, it was stated that the military base of the invaders is being built with the help of Dilêr Ferzende Zebari, Commander of the 1st Brigade of the Border Guard Units of the KDP. According to a local source, the Turkish government has also started cutting trees in Saxan and Sheshdaran districts near Zaxo under the control of KDP forces.

According to the report of the Kurdistan Green Party, the Turkish government cut down 3 million trees in the Behdinan region. Ebdulrehman Sidîq, Chairman of the Kurdistan Region Environmental Protection Board, drew attention to the genocidal attacks and the destruction of nature and stated that 1 million acres of land was damaged due to the bombing of the Turkish army.

Thousands of acres of land were burned

Kurdistan Patriotic Union (PUK) Deputy Zikrî Zêbarî spoke about the invasion attacks of the Turkish state.

Expressing that the invading Turkish soldiers looted every place they attacked and established their bases there, Zikrî Zêbarî reacted to the silence of the Kurdistan Region Parliament, the Kurdistan Region Government and the administration in the face of the invasion attacks. Emphasizing that every party has differences of opinion in the parliament, but when it comes to the lands of Kurdistan, everyone should take a serious stance to prevent the invasion of the Turkish state. Since 2015, nearly 150 civilians have been martyred in their gardens and fields in Southern Kurdistan. 133 citizens were also injured. 1800 acres of agricultural land burned. Great damage was done to Southern Kurdistan. Many citizens left their villages, vineyards and orchards.

The Kurdistan Region Parliament and the Kurdistan Region Government should assume their duties and responsibilities. He should know that these attacks aim to weaken the sovereignty of the Southern Kurdistan Region. All Kurdish people should know that the invasion attacks carried out under the pretext of the PKK are not correct. The Turkish state wants to occupy the sovereignty of Southern Kurdistan. The Turkish state cuts trees mostly in Avaşin, Metina and Garê. The Turkish state cuts down trees wherever it occupies and establishes a base there. “They use the trees to build their bases and some for trade,” he said.
