NEWS CENTER – When the Syrian revolution started, the people of Syria stood up for their freedom in March 2011. At that time, the Kurdish people in Rojava Kurdistan were ready for a revolt against the BAIS Regime and the love of a free life was the leader of the revolution in Rojava Kurdistan. Later, under the leadership of the youth, most of the regions of Rojava Kurdistan were liberated from the BAIS Regime and the establishment of a democratic and free system began. On this basis, it can be said that the July 19 revolution was the result of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement’s struggle over the years.
The revolution of July 19, whose spark was ignited in the city of Kobanê in 2012, has achieved great successes on the military and political levels during those years. The revolution leads to democratization and the establishment of a self-governing system. At the same time, those who led this revolution and brought the revolution to this day are the revolutionary young men and women. Young people have played an important role in building YPG/YPJ and Khwaser Institutions.
On this basis, one of the founders of the Revolutionary Youth Movement of the city of Kobanê, which was established in 2012, a young woman named Rodîn Kobanê, talks about the process of the establishment of the Rojava revolution and the role of the youth in it. Rodîn Kobanê pointed out that since the beginning of the revolution until now, young people have taken their place in the leadership line with self-sacrifice and said; “Between the years 2012 and 2014, a very active young work was carried out. With the spirit of the revolutionary youth, all the stereotypes that were built on young women and all young people were broken.”
We are now in front of the Revolutionary Youth Movement Center that was established in 2012. In this center there are old and young memories. At the beginning of the July 19th revolution, the youth started organizing themselves from this place. During the revolution, most young people gathered here. We developed artistic and educational activities in this center. We were discussing among ourselves the invasion attacks of the BAIS Regime and ISIS. Against that, at the same time, we were discussing how to take our place as young people in this revolution and resist these attacks. In the early days, there was a different spirit and love among young people, when someone was doing something, they all went to him. Their goal was to take care of the dreams of the martyrs.
We also built our military battalions in this place, at the same time we did the organizational side in this place. During the BAIS Regime, young people were oppressed inside their homes, there was no one to wake them up and wake them up. But then we started the organization work and we brought the young people here one by one and trained them. Most of the friends who stayed in this center were martyred during the Kobanê resistance. When people look at these memories, it hurts, but at the same time, it is a place of greatness. Between 2012 and 2014, the youngest work was carried out. Through the spirit of revolutionary youth, all stereotypes that were built on young women and all young people were broken.
After the number of young women in the center increased, they also started their own housewives and housewives activities. Together with other young people, they took their place in artistic activities. After these basic activities that we started, we formed secret battalions. At that time, YXG was established, and the youth took their place in it. After that, YPG and YPJ were formed, we were preparing battalions and sending them to YPG and YPJ. In general, we young people took their place in every work and we took the lead from everywhere. At the same time, the youth took their place in the freedom movement of Kurdistan. At that time, young women organized themselves in every way, so that every young woman could take her place in the revolution. Apart from that, we also had secret activities, as a dance group we could not do it openly. That’s why we used to do it secretly inside the houses. Also, when we went into the houses, we did our work, we also organized the people. Because people and youth are related to each other. We both wanted to organize the community of Kobanê in general. In order for every Kurd to recognize himself and take care of his existence, at the same time take care of Leader Apo and the work he has done.
