LONDON – TCŞ, JXK and London Kurdistan Solidarity internationalist activists saluted the 10th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution and commemorated Britain’s 8 revolutionary martyrs (Ş. Hêlîn Qereçox, Ş. Soro Zinar, Ş. Canşêr Zagros, Ş. Berxwedan Givara, Ş. Givara Rojava, Ş. Kemal, Ş. Şoreş Amanos and Ş. Fîraz Dağ) who fell during the struggle in Rojava, on Westminster Bridge in Central London today, with a banner-drop from the bridge along with PKK, YPG and YPJ flags.
A statement read out by the Revolutionary Youth Movement in London stated:
“Today we take action to mark the anniversary of the Rojava revolution. For ten years, the social experiment in North and East Syria has been a beacon of hope across the world, and created an example of free life: a society built of women’s liberation, social ecology and direct democracy. This example has inspired thousands of people across the Middle East and the world.
We take action today to salute the millions of people building a new society in North and East Syria. We remember the thousands of martyrs who have fallen in the fight against the fascism of Daesh and the fascism of the Turkish state. We remember the resistances of Kobanê and Afrîn, which brought hope to the world, and showed the strength of the YPG and YPJ defence forces even in the face of the unimaginable brutality of Daesh/ISIS. And we remember the internationalist martyrs, including Anna Campbell, who travelled from the
UK to defend with their lives a revolution so far away from home, but so near to their hearts.
A statement from London Kurdistan Solidarity read:
“We remember that the fight continues, as the Turkish state prepares to launch yet another attack, supported implicitly by its NATO allies. The Turkish state carries out an illegal war on North and East Syria, imprisons and represses Kurdish and other progressive movements within its own borders and across Kurdistan, and continues the isolation and imprisonment of political leader Abdullah Öcalan. Today, we are here to show our commitment to resistance against the fascism of the Turkish state, and to demand action from the UK government, which continues to sell arms to and do business with Turkey. There is blood on the hands of every politician who refuses to stand up to Turkey.“
