NEWS CENTER – Current affairs of international politics is dominated by the war taking place in Ukraine. However, this fact does not prevent old conflicts from manifesting, some of them revived by the very destabilization created in European territory due to the military intervention promoted by the government headed by Vladimir Putin.
The request for entry into the NATO structure, formulated by the representative political institutions of Finland and Sweden, gave rise to the reaction of the Turkish government, demanding the previous rupture of the Nordic countries with the Kurdish organizations that have taken refuge, for a long time, in those states.
The final outcome of the threat made by Erdogan remains to be seen, but this circumstance serves to certify the harassment that the Kurdish people have been receiving from successive governments in Ankara, committed to the political – and almost physical – disappearance of a nation that it has to face the complicated consequences of being part of four states (Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey).
Despite the conjunctural improvement of its role in the world geopolitical concert due to the coincidence with the United States in the fight against the Islamic State during the war carried out in Syria, the recent war initiative adopted by Putin eroded that advantage acquired by the resistance. kurdish The unique role played by Turkey – a preferred ally of the United States within NATO and, at the same time, a privileged interlocutor with the Kremlin authorities – works against Kurdish interests, with a view to advancing in the recognition international of its national condition.
United States, Germany and France, the references
The recent decision taken by Pedro Sánchez, changing the traditional position of Spanish diplomacy on the issue of Western Sahara, altered the framework of relations with Morocco and Algeria, seriously hampering the expectations of an eventual establishment of the SADR (Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic). ) as an independent state in North Africa.
Although there was no official explanation of the reasons that led to this modification made by the current president of the Spanish Government (substituting the defense of the self-determination referendum contemplated in the UN resolutions by the proposal of an indeterminate autonomous regime within the Moroccan State ), it is conceivable that we are facing an acceptance of the pressures of the North American administration and the French and German governments, in favor of reinforcing Morocco as the main ally in that territorial space.
A triptych of national entities
In addition to Kurdistan and the Sahara, Palestine completes a triptych of national entities that share the condition of victims of the indolence of the international community embodied in the UN. The catalog of unfulfilled resolutions in recent decades is one of the greatest liabilities accumulated by an organization designed, theoretically, to structure a fair coexistence that avoids warlike confrontations between nations and states that make up the world scene. The three cases certify -with different singularities- the failure of the UN Security Council due to the prolonged subordination of the successive representatives of this body to the policies dictated by the rulers of the United States, Israel and Turkey.
These peoples do not lack the supportive sympathy of thousands of social organizations on all continents. What they do not have is sufficient commitment on the part of those states that can be decisive in neutralizing the claims of the political and military forces (in Morocco, Israel or Turkey) that wish to eliminate any possibility of achieving maximum institutional recognition for Palestine, the Sahara and Kurdistan.
What has happened in recent decades in the Arab world exemplifies the magnitude of the aforementioned obstacles. The declarative support formulated by many states with the Palestinian cause did not have the necessary practical translation to neutralize the extermination policies of the successive Tel Aviv governments. The most recent case is well known and paradigmatic: the Moroccan regime signed an agreement with Donald Trump to recognize the State of Israel in exchange for the United States endorsing Morocco’s sovereignty over the Saharan territory. This is how history is being written.
