CHIAPAS – After the appointment of the Municipal Council in Teopisca by the state congress, citizens of the municipality have taken to the streets again to demand the disappearance of the Municipal Council headed by Luis Valdez Diaz.
More than a week after the state congress appointed a municipal council in Teopisca and thousands of citizens demonstrated against this council, they have been demanding that the former municipal trustee Josefa Maria Sanchez Perez be appointed as council president or in her case substitute municipal president.
In response to this non-conformity, close to 3,000 citizens of Teopisca once again took to the streets to protest and demand that the state congress of the state abolish the Municipal Council and appoint the ex-syndic Josefa María Sánchez Pérez as the first authority of the municipality.
The contingent left from the western zone of the city of Teopisca, toured the main streets of the city and concluded with a rally in the Central Park where they once again demanded that the state congress and the state governor take into account the opinion of the citizens, since according to them they were not taken into account, which is why they have said that they will not allow the council to enter the municipal palace.
Thousands of citizens have said that this protest will continue as they demand to be heard, since the state congress appointed the first authority of the municipality without the support or suggestion of the thousands of Teopisquenses.
They will demonstrate before López Obrador
The residents of Teopisca have decided to go to the city of San Cristobal de las Casas to talk and deliver a document to the president of Mexico Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, where he will be at 4:30 pm for the official delivery of the temple of Santo Domingo.
