VIENNA – A mobile tour “10 Years Rojava – Defending Hope!” was held in Austria last week to mark the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the Rojava revolution. The mobile tour was organized by RiseUp4Rojava together with the Revolutionary Kurdish Youth and YXK/JXK – the student associations of Kurdistan.
GRAZ
The first kick-off event got off to a successful start on July 7th. In Graz. Due to the great interest, the premises of the Black Caterpillar had to be moved to the association of the Kurdish movement at short notice. In addition to the 10-year celebrations, the current escalating situation in Rojava was discussed in detail. The Turkish occupying regime has completed all preparations for an invasion of the region. A brutal war of aggression is imminent, which is why a state of emergency has been declared in all cantons of the autonomous region of north-eastern Syria.
LINZ
On 8.7. the Mobi tour continued in the Willy*Fred house project in Linz. 40 interested people came to the house project to find out more and to discuss. Colonialism in Kurdistan, the history and ideology of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement and the PKK party, the revolution in Rojava and a delegation to southern Kurdistan were discussed. There was then a discussion on how to defend the Rojava revolution in Europe and what can be learned from it in Europe.
INNSBRUCK
On 07/10 was the last stop of the Mobitour “10 Years Rojava – Defending Hope!” at the collectively run Café Il Corvo in Innsbruck. There, too, the history of Kurdistan and the development of the autonomous self-government of Northeast Syria were discussed again. In the second part, reports from the delegations to southern Kurdistan and South Africa were presented by the Diplomacy Committee of the Kurdish Student Association. After the lecture, a spontaneous demonstration took place, which moved loudly and militantly through the city center.
SUMMARY
The aim of the Mobitour was to network in the various cities in Austria. What was seen is that everywhere there are people in solidarity with the struggles of Kurdistan and there is a willingness to defend the achievements of the revolution.
In the future, closer cooperation with various city networks in Austria should be sought in order to find organized answers to the intensified attacks of Turkish fascism.
