STOCKHOLM – The Kurds living in Sweden, together with their Swedish friends, went down to the square in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and held a mass protest against the deal that NATO made with the Turkish state against the Kurds for the membership of Sweden and Finland.
The demonstration was held yesterday under the leadership of the Kurdish Democratic Society Center in Sweden (NCDK-Sweden) with the slogan “No to Turkey’s blackmail, don’t make the Kurds the subject of your dirty market”
Thousands of Kurdistan and Swedes from northern Sweden and the capital Stockholm gathered in Bantorget Square and marched to Myntorget Square, which is in front of the Swedish Parliament. Kurdistan and Swedes protested the market with the Turkish state with their banners and slogans and held a rally after the march. After a minute of respect for the lifeguards, NCDK-Swedish Co-Chairman Hamid Amed spoke at the rally.
Hamid Amed explained that they are standing up against the Kurds in front of the market and said, “The Swedish government has made the Kurds the subject of the market for their own interests. Or Linde said, the Kurds say that only the mountains are our friends, we are also friends of the Kurds. But this act it is not friendly. The Kurds defeated ISIS with their lives, Turkey helped ISIS. You should have taken a firm stand.”
KNK co-chairman Ahmed Karamûs also pointed out that the agreement between Turkey, Finland and Sweden is an agreement of treason against the Kurds both for the Kurds in Sweden and for all Kurds and said, “We say, the agreement that you signed with the dictator Erdoğan has signed, a coup against the legitimate struggle of the Kurds who are fighting for their cultural and social freedom. The content of this agreement is very dirty. You say to yourself that we are acting according to the domestic law and the standard of human rights, but how can you are cooperating with a country like Turkey. Isn’t Belgium also a country of the European Union and does not see the Kurds as terrorists.”
Karamus said in the continuation of his speech: “Magdelena Anderson and Ann Lindê talk about democracy and human rights in all their speeches. How is it possible that with a bloodthirsty state that has no human rights, they make the Kurds the subject of negotiations with Turkey. No one cannot describe the Kurds as terrorists based on Turkey’s demands.”
Then the independent parliamentarian Aminah Kakebaweh spoke and said: “First of all, I say, Long live the resistance of Kobanê, Long live the resistance of Rojava. The Kurds gave a great and unique resistance against ISIS. They also did this resistance for the whole world. But with this dance It was a big humiliation for Sweden with Turkey. Yesterday they said that YPJ-YPG are the biggest resistance fighters, Ann Lind herself had congratulated YPJ, but today, in order to join NATO, they went after bargaining and subjugation against Erdoğan. By agreeing with a dictator like Erdoğan, who has not allowed anything called human rights in Turkey, the Social Democrats have offended and disgusted the Kurds. The Kurds are not saying that they should not be a member of NATO, they are saying: We should not make the Kurds a bargaining chip. The promises made by Sweden gave to the Kurds, today they are doing the opposite. As those words have not been done. Of course, the struggle for freedom will happen at the hands of the Kurdish woman. We will never give up the dream of building a free Kurdistan.”
The MP of the Left Party Daniel Riazat also said, “I am a Persian myself, but as a Persian, as an internationalist from the NCND-S, I am with you and I will always fight for the Kurds. This list prepared for terrorism is from It is prepared for politics and not as legal. I criticize the Social Democratic Party. Every deal you have with Turkey will result in death for the Kurds. This is a very dangerous policy. You should have done nothing to lift the arms embargo on Turkey. Now it’s clear what you want.”
In the demonstration, a message was given in the name of the Association Party of Eastern Kurdistan.
The slogans “Erdogan the killer” and “Sweden should not be a killer partner and enemy of the Kurds” were also shouted.
Along with the distribution of leaflets about the purpose of the action, signatures were also collected to remove the name of the PKK from the list of ‘terrorist organizations’.
