NEWS CENTER – In Ecuador, a series of activities have been carried out to make Jineologî (Women’s Science) and the struggle of Kurdish women known to the people of the country.
Following a book fair held July 13-17, a seminar on the educational methods of Jineologî and its link with sociology was held on July 25 at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Central University of Quito. In addition to students of sociology and feminist theory from the faculty, professors also attended. The seminar’s keynote address was given by sociology professor Andrea Reinoso.
We want to learn alternative educational methods from the experiences of Jineologî, Reinoso said, adding that they, along with the students, had previously read the booklets on the Transformation of Man produced by the Jineologî Academy. Reinoso said they hoped to learn more about the practice of Jineology through this seminar.
Zilan Diyar, who delivered a speech on behalf of the Jineologî Academy after the opening speech, first commemorated YPJ commanders Jiyan Tolhıldan, Barin Botan and Roj Xabur who were killed in a Turkish attack in Rojava on July 22 and invited the participants to observe a minute of silence, after which a documentary on Jineologî studies was screened.
Brief information about Jineologî educational methods was given during the presentation of the Jineology Academy.
The presentation pointed out that Jineology does not promote knowledge for power. On the contrary, it makes knowledge functional in solving social issues and problems. She emphasized that Jineology works to produce knowledge that would strengthen the foundation of women’s revolution, adding that revolutionary movements must fight along the lines of an alternative science.
Following the students’ questions, signatures were collected for the campaign to remove the PKK from the list of “terrorist organizations.”
