Here is the interview:
So, can you tell a little bit about your collective?
“We are the Rojava commute. We have been Avriv since 2014. We have worked in many fields to support the revolution in Rojava and to spread information about the ideology of Abdullah Ocalan. Our goal is to both support the project in the liberated areas and to also show the importance of the ideology in Sweden.”
How do you see the agreement made by Sweden with the turkish fascists state to join NATO? How can the people in Sweden oppose it?
“The social democratic party Made Sweden application to NATO in the most undemocratic way possible. They went to election 4 years ago that they were against Sweden joining NATO. 3 months before the application, the social-democratic party had a congress were the members voted against NATO. But the party leadership sent the application anyway. So this decision is not from the Swedish people. So that’s way we see it as so important to protest this decision.”
Your actions to defend the PKK and the people’s of Kurdistan caught the attention of the Swedish government itself, why do you think that?
“I think the actions we did got so big response is because we could show to the public how the social-democrats had betrayed their own values and the promises they had made to the Kurdish freedom movement.”
Why is it important to support the decriminalization of the PKK? How do you support the campaign to remove the PKK from the terror list of EU?
“Its important to show to people that PKK is not seen as a terrorist organisation in a majority of the world. Only the states that have alliance with Turkey in EU and NATO see PKK as a terrorist organisation. Others see it as a legitimate force for the Kurdish people. Our work to delist PKK has been made most with Our work to translate Öcalan’s books, together with other studies the ideology and spread the word about the ideology. We have sold over 10000 of Öcalan’s books in Swedish. And hold circles of discussions in over 10 cites about it. So we have focused on this at most. And of course participated in demonstrations and actions for the freedom of Öcalan and delist the PKK.”
