SULEIMANIYA – Today the third Congress of the Freedom Movement was held in Suleimaniya in South Kurdistan, with the goals to discuss the recent increase of attacks of the turkish fascist state and how to resist it. During the speeches a internatinonalist friend participating in the second Working Brigades of the Internationalist Commune of Rojava took the stage and share her reflections on the subject, as well as showed the importance of international solidarity towards Kurdistan:

“We the Internationalist Volunteers are honoured to be here in solidarity with
Kurdistan and to show our support to those people who are fighting for freedom.

You! The Kurdish people are not only fighting for your own land and freedom, you are also showing us the way, you are a beacon of hope to oppressed people all over the World.

We come from rich, patriarcy, capitalist, ecocidal countries that oppress indigenous people, women and the workers. Some of us are also members of oppressed peoples from the Catalan country, from the Basque country and from Castile. Our countries, Spain, Germany and Australia are a part of the American and NATO led alliance that creates endless wars in order to feed the insatiable military/industrial economy and dominate the globe. The Turkish regime is a key player in this evil alliance, Turkey uses their membership to force countries like Sweden, Finland and others to abandon their support and goodwill towards the autonomous administration of north eastern Syria.

In our homes we have watched in despair as these state powers ignore or even tacitly support Turkey’s use of chemical weapons, assassination, shelling and drone strikes against innocent civilians, aiding and arming the jihadist mercenaries who rape and rob the innocent indiscriminately. The environment itself is a victim of these thugs as they use ecocide as a weapon of war, firebombing forests and damming rivers to cut off the life giving water to people downstream.

Sadly the PDK and some others collaborate in all of these atrocities. For a small amount of cash, they betray themselves, their own people. As if that was not traitorous enough, these collaborators are also betraying the entire global struggle for Democratic Modernity. They should hang their heads in shame as should anyone who votes for them.

We the International volunteers are collaborators too! But we are collaborators of a different kind, we are collaborators who are inspired by the example of the brave hevals who struggle against all kinds of oppression.

We feel a deep gratitude to you for creating the vision and the possibility for us to feel this strong sense of recognition, respect and love in solidarity amongst the freedom fighters and the oppressed people of this world.
This is why we say La Solidaridad es la ternura de los pueblos “Solidarity is the tenderness of the peoples”
