BEHDINAN – The PKK has the distinction of being the movement that best expresses internationalism today. Young people from all over the world who recognize the ideas and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Öcalan and who want to understand the PKK’s philosophy join the ranks of the PKK. Mazlum Atakan, a British guerrilla, and Hozan Ararat, an Arab guerrilla, are also in the ranks of the PKK with their internationalist identities.
Speaking to our agency on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution, PKK guerrillas Mazlum Atakan and Hozan Ararat stated that the Kurdistan youth and internationalist youth must first join the resistance led by the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla in order to protect the Rojava Revolution
Mazlum Atakan
“Undoubtedly, the Rojava Revolution has become the symbol of the oppressed peoples. Maybe he is known for his war against ISIS and the Fascist Turkish State. However, if we limit our knowledge of the Rojava Revolution to this, we cannot fully understand the essence of the revolution. Because the most important thing in the Rojava Revolution is the implementation of this system on the basis of Leader APO’s ideas and philosophy. In particular, the struggle in general is with the Kurdish people; The participation of Arab people, Assyrian people and Turkmen peoples makes the Rojava Revolution different from other revolutions. We see that this revolution has transcended both the capitalist system, the old paradigm of socialism and national liberation struggles. The Rojava revolution shows its difference. That’s why it’s so effective.
We can say that women play a leading role in every field. Women are pioneers in the Rojava Revolution, militarily, politically, economically or culturally. We can say that with the Rojava Revolution, women realized their own nature and identities and lead their societies based on this.
Not only in the Middle East, but all over the world, women are under great pressure. There is a system that divides and sells women either under the name of religion or liberalism . However, in Rojava, we see that the answer to this is women themselves. In the Rojava Revolution, we see that women can rule the entire society.
First of all, we should not consider the Rojava revolution as a coincidence. The Rojava revolution derives its foundation from the Leadership march. This struggle, which our leadership has been waging for a long time, enabled the young people of Bakur to recognize their Kurdish identity and spiritual identity. On this basis, they found themselves in the Rojava Revolution. What was this border between Bakur and Rojavaye Kurdistan for the youth? This border was determined by the imperialist powers, the British and French states. When the youth crossed this line, they actually defeated the imperialist powers, so it made a lot of sense.
This struggle is based on an internationalist thought. Who were the first friends to join the reality of leadership? Heval Kemal Pir and heval Haki Karer. They were not Kurds themselves, but they saw the truth in the Leader’s struggle. For this reason, the struggle of the freedom movement will always continue to exist. This is revealed in the Rojava Revolution. Therefore, many internationalist and revolutionary forces of the world found themselves in the revolution. Those who see the potential to build a new socialism according to today’s world see their participation in the revolution as a duty.
The leading role in the Revolutionary People’s War falls on the youth of Rojava. There is a real military power, it has reached a certain level, this development is very important, but in order to be successful, a people’s war must be waged against an army that uses superior techniques, such as the NATO army, the Turkish Republic.
What does this mean for young people? It is all about preparing oneself for war. It is to prepare not only himself but also society for war. These values, which were revealed with the blood of the martyrs in the Rojava Revolution, need to be felt deeply. If we don’t protect this legacy given to us by the martyrs and continue the struggle they gave us, we will lose everything. As young people, we must never allow fascist forces to destroy this holy land that is watered with the blood of martyrs. We must oppose this great hatred. Accordingly, let us prepare ourselves on the basis of the Revolutionary People’s War.
Today, guerrillas are inflicting great blows on the Turkish invaders in Avaşin and Metina in Zap. Together with a historical resistance, they are waging a war of victory. But if this war is limited to the mountains of Kurdistan, it will not reach a conclusion. The Revolutionary People’s War Strategy requires that we scale up its war. Just like these fascists who want to wage an all-out war on us, we need to give an all-out response with our war. The people as a whole must take part in this war. Not only the military forces, not only the guerrillas, but the entire people should see this as a duty. Especially the youth should take this responsibility as the most dynamic force. Internationalist youth carried out very meaningful actions. We see that actions such as protests and marches are carried out without interruption. But more needs to be done. This is a war, a battle for life and death. It is not only valid for the Kurdish people and Kurdistan, but also for this region. If we do not win the war, the hope of socialism and the alternative to capitalism will be gone. Every socialist, every revolutionary should see this as his own responsibility. Ordinary actions and explanations do not meet the process. That’s why we need to magnify actions more.”
Again, I can state that the Youth of Bakur must now enter the Revolutionary People’s War process. Again, very meaningful actions are being taken, but this needs to evolve into war. The Revolutionary People’s War was also waged in Bakure Kurdistan. We still have the power to do it. We can fight and win against this enemy. Bakur youth should take on this role.
The same applies to the youth of Rojava. Today, the fascist, invading bloodsucking Turkish state in Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê is committing all kinds of immorality in these lands. Their gangs do all kinds of crap. Rojava youth should not accept this for themselves. He must lead his own society and fight against it. They should consider themselves responsible within the framework of the Werin Cenga Azadiyê campaign.
This is not just a call to march and make a statement, this is a call to truly come and join this battle. As we have stated, this saval is being carried out completely. Yes, we deal great blows to the enemy and this requires great costs. Rojava youth should not see the war waged on the mountains as disconnected from the Rojava Revolution. If the Rojava Revolution does not take care of the struggle on the mountain, it will make a big mistake and the revolution will be in danger. Rojava youth should also prepare themselves accordingly and join the war.”

“We celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Rojava revolution to our people of North-East Syria. The suffering of the people in the North-East of Syria before the revolution experienced great changes after the 19 July revolution. Ten years have passed since the revolution, many changes have occurred in this decade. As we know that Leader Apo called this revolution a women’s revolution, there were significant changes especially for women. This revolution was an opportunity for both women and youth to free themselves from slavery. At the same time, those who were buried in history re-emerged with this revolution. For this reason, the revolution affected both the Syrian people and the people of the Middle East. The revolution that took place in North-East Syria was based on the thought and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The development of the people of the region derives from the thought and philosophy of Leader Apo.
The attacks carried out by ISIS and the Turkish state 10 years ago affected the society more especially in terms of religious and nationalist mentality. At that time, the people became the slaves of the BAAS regime, apart from that, capitalist modernity attacked the people with its own war. Most of all, they attacked women, crushed women’s identity and trapped them within the walls of slavery. However, after the establishment of the revolution with the thought and philosophy of Leader Apo, we see great changes. Especially for women, there were great changes, women learned their own truth, organized and lived on their own culture. The same changes apply to young people. Young people have taken a very clear step.
The values established by Leader Apo must be protected by the people and the youth from the invading forces. We protect our values from the BAAS regime, the Turkish state and all sovereign powers. The invading Turkish state is attacking very ruthlessly to destroy this idea and seize those values. Today, everyone knows that Erdogan is the ruler of the Turkish state and fascism, everyone knows that Erdogan is a cruel and cruel person. The attacks on Syria and especially the northeastern regions of Syria continue uninterruptedly. But he will not be able to fulfill his dream. Since the peoples of the region struggle with Leader Apo’s idea and philosophy of Democratic Modernity, this philosophy is based on the brotherhood of the peoples. No matter how superior Erdogan attacks, the people will make him regret his atrocities. Today, the Syrian people have become very resilient and warlike, thanks to Leader Apo’s ideas and philosophy, all women are organizing, society is self-governing, resisting and struggling against brutal attacks. The people now reject the ideas of the BAAS regime and the Turkish state, and respond by rising up.
Those who reject the invasion attacks in the first place are women and youth. Young people should reject fascist ideas and educate themselves with Leader Apo’s ideas. They should know more about what the democratic nation paradigm is. They must know more about the history, truth, culture and morals of their society and find the truth.
The aim of these attacks is to destroy this idea, so they want to enslave the youth until they achieve their goals, for this they allow the youth to leave their homeland and emigrate. Young people going abroad should return to their countries and protect their lands from invaders. Today everyone sees the progress made in North-East Syria. I was impressed by these developments, my reason for joining the struggle was the July 19 revolution. I was particularly impressed by the idea of a democratic nation, which is based on the coexistence of different peoples and the protection of their histories. Today, the PKK has become a universal party, people from all walks of life join this party. Today this movement is fighting for the oppressed peoples and the guerrilla is resisting all the oppressors.
The guerrilla resistance that developed against the fascist states had a great impact on the peoples of North-East Syria, the peoples of the Middle East and the whole world. Thanks to Leader Apo’s ideas, this resistance has reached this level. The same is true for the Rojava revolution, it has achieved very important results in its 10-year struggle. For this reason, the invading and fascist Turkish state is attacking with all its might, but still can’t get any results. Those who know Leader Apo’s thoughts should improve themselves. They must develop and resist, and in this spirit they must save themselves first and then the whole people. Finally, I would like to say to all the youth of North-East Syria and the Middle East: Werin Cenga Azadiyê”
